HOLMAN PLACE PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
TERM 4 WEEK 9, 2017
From the Principal
WOW! It is hard to be-
lieve how close it is to
the end of the year.
The classes are a buzz
with excitement as the
end of the year fast ap-
proaches and the stu-
dents are busily working
on their Christmas craft
and end of year perfor-
mances.
A reminder that our
school assembly will
be held next
Wednesday 13th
December at the
Scout Hall adjoin-
ing the school com-
mencing at 11 am. It will be terrific to see
family and friends of our
students come together
to celebrate their terrific
work this year. We
would love for you to
come back to Holman
Place to enjoy a sausage
sizzle lunch with us.
Last week we were ex-
cited to once again go to
the Cowra Ballet’s per-
formance. This is an
event on our calendar
that we look forward to
each year and it is always
extra special when
there’s people that we
know on stage.
Today the Emus and
Kangaroos went to
Squire Park to visit our
friends from Cowra Spe-
cial Needs Services to
help celebrate National
Disability Awareness
Day. It was wonderful to
see students from our
past. If you are looking
for some Christmas or-
naments for your garden,
PSO have been busily
making them and have
some for sale if you con-
tact them.
We have had several
students participating in
work experience this
term. I would like to
thank the businesses and
individuals who allow
our students to partici-
pate in such valuable
learning. We look for-
ward to some of these
supporters of our stu-
dents joining us also on
next Wednesday to pre-
sent some awards.
Tomorrow our Senior
Classes are going to be
joining Nicholas Dodaro
in celebrating the end of
his schooling before fin-
ishing up with us at the
end of next week. We
will all have an oppor-
tunity to wish Nicky well
at our final assembly
next week.
It will be a big couple of
weeks for Nicky as last
Friday he celebrated his
18th birthday. Congrat-
ulations and Happy
Birthday Nicky.
Reports will distributed
next week. Classes have
started to send home
student work from the
classrooms and folders
for you to enjoy.
Please return all Raffle
tickets by Monday and
we are still collecting
items for the hampers.
Cheers
Kylie

Wombats
The Wombats have had
an excellent couple of
weeks. The students are
thoroughly enjoying the
Christmas art that we
have been making in
class and they are
producing some amazing
pieces.
Preparations for the end
of year assembly are in
overdrive and the
students are very
excited to show off their
p e r f o r m a n c e a n d
costumes. We hope to
see as many parents as
possible on the day.
During our weekly visits
from Karen our Speech
Pathologist, we have
been doing water play
which the students have
loved.
Miss Tahlia has been on
the class whilst Mr Beard
has been on leave. The
students have coped
very well with the
change and have enjoyed
having Miss Tahlia in the
classroom.
The Wombats hope that
all the parents are proud
of the work that has
been coming home. The
students have delivered
some excellent work
throughout the semester
and it has proudly been
d isp layed on the
classroom walls.

Koalas
It’s beginning to look a
lot like Christmas in the
Koala classroom! The
boys have been busy
doing some amazing art
and craft works ready to
send home to put on
your trees and display
on your walls. Dale and
Toby showed lots of
patience and persistence
with their string art, well
done boys. Last week
we were also treated to
‘The Christmas Grinch’
ballet performance. I was
very impressed with
everyone's behavior and
sitting still for such a
long time. Xander and
Darcy particularly liked
this excursion and were
h e a r d g i g g l i n g
throughout the play. We
have had some new
sensory additions to our
classroom this week.
The lycra tunnel has
been a big hit with Jye
and Noah and Max has
shown an interest in our
‘seaweed’ pillows we
have on our happy mat.
Keep a look out in your
bags for workbooks and
art works completed
throughout the term!
Louise, Ruth and Sharon
Goannas
The Goannas have been
decorating the class tree,
preparing decorations
and gifts for Christmas.
Mrs McCabe has been
checking out the naughty
and nice list and
everyone is on the nice
list for now!
We all had an amazing
time at the Cowra Ballet
Schools performance of
“The Grinch”. Meg’s
favourite part was the
light up tu-tu’s. Dean’s
was the Grinch stealing
the presents. Tom’s was
seeing Katie on stage!
Zahli’s was peeking out
at the audience from
behind he curtains at the
s t a r t o f t h e
performance.
In taste test Thursdays
with Miss Silvia the
students tried choc
dipped strawberries
while on Thursday fruit
sorbet was on the menu.
The Goanna’s have had
Katherine with us for
the past week so we
would like to thank her
for her help around the
class with our work and
Christmas preparations.

TERM 4, 2017
Emus
Our end of year
ce l eb ra t i on s h a ve
a l r e a d y s t a r t e d .
Sportability has officially
finished for this year.
Our last session at the
PCYC we played Laser
Tag. Every student in
the Emu class got
involved and enjoyed
themselves thoroughly.
The Emu class has a lot
to be proud of. We
have made our final
purchases from profits
m a d e w i t h t h e
Christmas cards and
paper. For the senior
end of the school we
purchased a 2 seater
garden swing.
The junior end of the
school have a new lycra
tunnel to use in their
sensory gross motor
lessons.
As a special treat for
the Emu class for their
hard work they enjoyed
a day at Orange. We
went to mini golf and
then to Hog’s Breath
Café for a well deserved
treat.
Miss Brooke & My
Kangaroos
This week as a special
treat, for participating in
the Sport a Month
Program, Kangaroos and
Emus did Laser Tag. It
was a hard fought battle
between mixed teams
where everyone enjoyed
the skirmish and
congratulated each other
at the end of the games.
Many of the students
look forward to Laser
Tag, which has been a
great reward for their
participation in the
sports program.
On Tuesday Amy, Tori
Lee and Billy attended
the performance of “The
Grinch Who Stole
Christmas” by the
Cowra Ballet. All of
them enjoyed the
dancing, music and
seeing the performance
of Jennifer from Emus
class.
For canteen last week,
we had Dev i l l ed
Sausages with a secret
sauce that everyone
seemed to enjoy. Jaydon
and Nash played a big
part in peeling spuds and
cooking whilst Austin,
Tori Lee and Amy
helped with serving and
delivery. Mr Bryson,
