Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

INTRODUCTION

These simple "Holistic Home Pet Care Tips" are going to save you hundredsof dollars in vet bills! Seriously. This is for real. Animals respond very well tonatural treatments, much better than to veterinary drugs in many cases.

If you follow these simple methods, your pet with stay healthy and give youyears of fun and love. For a modest investment in treatment remedies tohave on hand, you can avoid a trip to the vet every time something comes upthat needs health care attention. Many of these items you can purchase atyour local health food store or buy on amazon.com. It couldn’t be simpler. Nature always has a cure. Our pets are easy to treat for many ailments athome, where they heal best and can be treated without drugs and chemicals.

I have had many cats, dogs, horses and farm animals including chickens, goats and sheep over the past 40 years. I’ve always treated them allnaturally as much as possible. Today I am graced with a family pack ofpooches. I live with a wonderful pair of naturally-reared Toy AustralianShepherds and a Pomeranian/American Eskimo cross.

Rarely have I relied solely on a veterinarian for health issues during all theyears of having animals in my life. Of course, having a good vet on standbyfor those emergency times is very important. Preferably there is a goodholistic vet in your town as there is here in Eugene, Oregon.

I have used these natural methods over the years and you can too, on anytype of animal, as well as the humans in your family. The belief that I carryinto my life, and put into practice with my dogs, is to live as “nature intends” in everything we do. Following healthful practices makes life simple. It alsohelps me attune to my pets and our own needs. This way we are able tokeep a higher vibration, resulting in good health.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

We eat mostly organic food when we can (pasture-raised raw meat for thedogs). I grow my own vegetables and greens in the summer. I never useany household chemicals for cleaning, or for any other reason. We use onlyorganic products and ingredients in both the house and yard. We getminimal (or no) vaccinations due to the toxins and adjuvants in vaccines.(You can read more on my website.) I personally have never hadvaccinations as an adult, nor have I ever used pharmaceutical medications.Of course I don’t use chemical pesticides on the dogs for fleas or ticks either.

Colloidal Silver for Dogs, Cats, Horses, Farm Animals, Other Petsand Peeps :I give my pets colloidal silver on a daily basis to keep their immune system atits peak. You can give it to any animal that is looking run down or has justabout any kind of illness at all. Colloidal silver is a great cure-all, and safe touse daily. I like it for keeping the immune system boosted, both for health-compromised adults dogs and cats; and for puppies and kittens who are notvaccinated or minimally vaccinated, once nursing ends and mama’s immunityhas worn off.

CS can be used on dogs and cats for hot spots, wounds, rashes, yeasty areasunder eyes, and mange; it can be put directly into eyes, ears, and directlyinto the mouth to remove tooth plaque.

Not only do I use colloidal silver on myself and recommend it for friends andfamily for everything from the common cold and flu to other conditions suchas toe nail fungus, burns, sore throats and so forth, but all my dogs getcolloidal silver in their water bowls on a daily basis as prevention, since I onlyvaccinate minimally, and we go out to public parks on a regular basis.

Colloidal silver has so many uses as a natural antibiotic, antibacterial andantifungal that it is very much like a miracle cure in many cases.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

I first became excited about using colloidal silver for pets five years ago whenI started giving it to my Pomeranian for her teeth that had already started toget plaque, although she was only a year and a half old. Poms are known forhaving dental problems. I gave her colloidal silver everyday for a few months. One day when I took her to the vet for something minor that needed lookingat, the vet commented how beautiful her teeth were. It was then that I fullyrealized how remarkably the colloidal silver had cleaned up her mouth.

Later, I had the same experience with my own teeth going to the dentist. Ihonestly hadn’t had a deep cleaning in several years. I finally made anappointment knowing it was long overdue. The dental hygienist remarkedhow clean my teeth looked. She said to me, “You must be a very regularflosser”. I had to admit I was not! However, I had been a very regularbrusher and after each brushing I swished my mouth with about an ounce ofcolloidal silver twice a day. This was the secret that kept my teeth fromplaque buildup. I also cured a fungal toenail I had had since my late 30s. Nothing else had be able to touch it. Now I have a normal toenail again dueto daily diligence using colloidal silver on it.

After these experiences, I knew the colloidal silver was my favorite naturalcure for my pets and myself.

We now offer an all natural colloidal silver pet shampoo. Please! Stay away from commercial pet care shampoos that containchemical preservatives and additives. Pets are super-sensitive to many typesof chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic. They effect and cancompromise the immune system.

If you don't use a good organic shampoo for your pet then it is easy to makeyour own. This easy-to-make recipe is excellent for washing and cleansingany type of pet:

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Use a small amount of hemp oil, melted coconut oil or olive oil. Add any ofthese: baking soda, apple cider vinegar, colloidal silver, lemon juice, foodgrade peroxide (very diluted only a small amount about ½ t.), and, if youare also needing a flea shampoo, a few drops of cedar essential oil. Then, fora bit of soapiness and suds, add about 1 teaspoon or more of Dr. Bronner'ssoap or liquid castile soap. Then add in about 1 cup of warm water (or 1 cupof colloidal silver), and shake vigorously or use a blender before adding thesoap. Pour on the amount needed and work into the fur, getting deep downto reach and massage into the skin.

"Our goal is for all animals to be given the super-healthy lifestyle that nature intended for them."FOLLOW THE LAWS OF NATURE

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

1. First and foremost, this requires that you give the optimal species-appropriate diet. Carnivore pets thrive on a raw meat diet, just asnature intended.

2. Eliminate all toxins in the environment. This also includes what is beinggiven internally as well as externally: drugs, chemicals, vaccines, andpesticides, as well as everything in the home that is unnatural, includingdryer sheets, floor cleaners, herbicides and more. If you must use theseproducts in emergency situations, buy fragrance-free, use them anddispose of them safely. Synthetic fragrances are a much bigger burdenon the nervous and immune systems of pets than people realize.

3. Give your pets plenty of sunshine outdoors, enough exercise daily foryour breed, and always, only filtered water. Most tap water is not safefor drinking.

4. Give your pet a sleeping place to sleep that is restful, quiet and awayfrom all EMF (electromagnetic fields) and electronics.

5. If your pet gets sick, treat the cause with natural remedies wheneverpossible. If you need to go to your vet for a diagnosis, do so. However, resist any suggestions to go straight to antibiotics and steroids, whichonly mask the symptoms, causing the disease to crop up later in adeeper, more difficult form to heal.

6. Keep a happy, healthy household. Our pets pick up on the “vibes”around them. Anger, sadness, yelling and fighting can make a pet illfrom stress.

7. Remember that nature is the best cure. Only resort to surgery and drugswhen in a true emergency situation.

SPECIES-APPROPRIATE DIET FOR CARNIVORES

species-appropriate diet and helps to keep them at the ultimate health.

See more here about feeding raw:

http://perfectlyrawsome.com/dogs/raw-feeding-transition-guide-for-dogs/ )

Most people don't realize this but dry kibble contains many toxins. Even highquality dry kibble is known to be contaminated with many different bacteria, mycotoxins, and fungi, as well as small insects and their wastes. These dryanimal foods are often grain-based and GMO-laden. They are too high incarbohydrates and inferior plant-based proteins that are not at all healthy foryour carnivore pets.

Raw or Home-Cooked?The is much debate among animal owners and experts about what is best forour pets in the realm of optimal diets.

The anti-raw food camp are concerned about bacteria, germs and parasitesfrom not cooking.

T h e pro-raw people are concerned about loss of healthy nutrients andenzymes from cooking and processed animal foods.

We highly recommend the prey-model approach of raw feeding overhomemade cooked food or kibble.

However, we feel it is important that it be a good quality, grass-fed meatsource rather that feed lot raised meats, as they too are filled with toxins.

We recommend a raw-prey model diet for dogs and cats. This is a

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

I buy free-range, organic and antibiotic-free meat. The best options are lamb, bison and venison (if you can get it), and chicken necks and frames. I foundgreat pet-grade bison and venison at a meat market when I was in Canada. In the States I find many sources for free-range meat for my pack.

It’s best to use grass-fed beef, bison and free-range chicken thighs for smalldogs or cats, or chicken necks and backs for larger animals. Weight-bearingbones of larger animals (like beef legs) should be avoided as they can be toohard on the teeth.

Feed: Most dogs will be fine to make a diet change in just a day or two. Thefirst night, feed your usual kibble for dinner, then the next morning feed araw breakfast. Then, stop feeding the kibble altogether. Start with oneprotein for about a week or two and then add variety. There are many greatraw feeding groups on facebook for learning more about prey model feeding.

Most dogs will relish the raw meal, but some dogs and cats need to have thefood mixed with a high-quality treat they love to get used to the new textureand flavors.

Some dogs need to be fasted to get hungry enough to get excited about thenew food. Of course never do this with puppies.

Do not mix raw food and kibble together because it digests differently.

Cats can be more finicky as they are very conditioned by the food they werefed as kittens. It can take a lot longer to switch cats over to raw. Just bepatient and keep giving it to them with bits of tuna, sardines or somethingelse you know they love and relish.

Canned organic 100% pumpkin is great to have on hand to regulate anydigestive upsets. Also have slippery elm powder on hand for tummy issues.

PET FOOD ADDITIVES AND SUPPLEMENTSMy dogs are very healthy, happy, strong, and energetic, at their ideal weightwith shiny coats. I always get asked about my healthy animals and why theylook and act so well, and are calm and happy. It’s about balance. Everythingi s vibration. Keeping the vibration high in your pet, and in your household, keeps the animal's immune system in peak health. We typically do not needto supplement the diet if the food being given is from pastured animals, along with enough organs and raw meaty bones, and is fed in balance.

However, some pet owners that raw feed will once in awhile, whennecessary, add supplementation when the pet needs an extra immuneboost.

To the raw meat rotation, for the healthiest daily mix, I do add at certaintimes, these supplements, in rotation, to my pets’ daily diet:

Nutritive herbs such as alfalfa, nettle or kelp; DE for de-wormer, or as amineral supplement; and coconut oil, golden paste, salmon oil or pasturedbutter for more healthy fats (EFAs). Spirulina, clay and ACV may be given forhea l th support. Garlic and nutritional yeast help during flea season. The amounts are dependent on the weight of the animal and on the animal’staste or pickiness.

I have created a whole-food supplement containing all of these naturalsuperfood nutrients that may be needed occasionally for dogs, whether rawfed or not: Super-Natural Dog High-Vibe Nutrient Supplement is gearedtowards dogs that are raw-fed, adding some nutrients that they may get fromnature when foraging for grasses and roots. See it here: HIGH-VIBENUTRIENTS

I also add a few teaspoons or more of colloidal silver to my pets’ daily waterto prevent parasites, help with dental decay, and just as an overallpreventive.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

For instance, when needing a health boost, see below:

For dogs needing a boost for overall health and flea control (animals attractfleas when their immunity is low), I add 1 tbsp. of coconut oil and 1 tbsp.DE. Or, add 1 tbsp. clay powder, 1 tbsp. ACV, 1 Tbsp. nutritional yeast and ¼ tsp. powdered or fresh garlic. Stir and feed to your pet once a day.

For boosting feline health: add 1 tbsp. of coconut oil and 1 tsp. of DE. Or, add1 tsp. of clay powder and 1 tbsp. of ACV and feed it to them once a day.

Chickens: I add the DE sprinkled over their food. DE is also in the dirt wherethey dust themselves. ACV and colloidal silver is in their water.

When your pet's health is compromised:

Add daily to their diet: DE, coconut oil, clay, kelp, alfalfa, nettles and ACV.The amounts are dependent on the weight of the animal and on the animal’staste or pickiness. Do this for a few weeks and then re-evaluate. You mayneed to continue on with this regime for several months to get your pet backon track. Or, simply use the High-Vibe Nutrients from Holistic Pet Care.

I also add a few teaspoons or more of colloidal silver to my pets’ daily waterto prevent underlying pathogens and parasites, and to keep their immunesystems boosted. Additionally, it helps with dental decay, and mainly, it’s anoverall preventative. You may need to give the CS orally if their health is inpoor shape, to make sure they are getting enough.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

For Dogs: (Give half these amounts to dogs under 25 lbs.) Give with morningor evening meal. I add 1 tbsp. of coconut oil and 1 tbsp. DE. Or, you can add1 tbsp. clay powder, 1 tbsp. ACV, ½ tsp. herb mix, along with digestiveenzymes and probiotics. Stir 1/4 to ½ tsp. garlic and 1 Tbsp. nutritional yeastonce a day into the evening meal. For Cats: Add 1 tsp. of coconut oil and 1 tsp. of DE. Or, add 1 tsp. of claypowder, 1 tsp. of ACV, and digestive enzymes. Feed them raw once a day.Colloidal silver can be given in their water or orally.

Chickens or other pet birds: I add the DE sprinkled over their food. DE is alsoin the dirt where they dust themselves. ACV and colloidal silver is in theirwater.

Again, it can’t be emphasized enough: a raw prey-model diet is thecornerstone for optimal health for carnivores.

If you plan to buy a commercially created raw food, or for some reason youcannot feed the prey-model diet, another option is feeding a pre-made rawf o o d . Answers o r Small Batch areboth good conscious raw dog foodcompanies. This is as a second choice to prey-model feeding. Althoughcarnivore animals do not need vegetables in their foods, many companiesstill add them. Small Batch does offer a meat-only chub option. Keep in mindthat a carnivore's digestive tract is not designed for grains and vegetables. They do not produce the enzymes needed to digest them so they just turninto sugars in the system, which are not needed by carnivores at all. Thisworks the same way when you feed grains and kibble. They can createinflammation which leads to painful arthritis, diabetes, cancer and more!

As mentioned, most dogs can make an overnight switch. One night it’s kibblefor dinner, the next day they have a raw breakfast. Your dog can do this too.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Sometimes a dog will need a fasting period of 1-2 days. Never do this longerthan ONE meal with puppies. Do not mix kibble and raw, as the time it takesto digest kibble is far longer than it takes to digest raw, sometimes resultingin stomach upset and regurgitation.

Some vets recommend having canned organic 100% pumpkin on hand toregulate any digestive upsets. Cats need a different transition method. Please see the following site for more info on switching cats to raw:www.rawfedcats.org

HOLISTIC, NATURAL PET HEALTH CARE AND EMERGENCY CARE

DIGESTIVE REMEDIES:

For both canine and feline indigestion, and for the general discomfort anddyspepsia of having eaten something nasty! (Always have some digestiveenzymes and probiotics on hand.)

Activated Charcoal:If you’re a pet owner, colloidal silver is a “must-have” product in the homefirst aid kit.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Activated charcoal is great for anytime your pet ingests something it shouldnot have eaten. It is a detoxifier and healer, great for drawing out toxinsgiven internally, or used as a poultice externally. It’s always important tohave on hand just in case. Vets use this as well in many situations whenpoisons are ingested.

Use activated charcoal water and colloidal silver as a first aid “go-to”. Mixthem together and put into your oral syringe. Get this into them right away. You can also give homeopathic Arsenicum right after the AC and CS mix.

Also, make a mixture with activated charcoal, bentonite clay, coconut oil andcolloidal silver. Cover your pet’s entire stomach area with it. You can give alittle of some of this mixture into their mouths as well until they are better.

If your pet is suffering from diarrhea or constipation, give about 1 tsp.slippery elm powder mixed with colloidal silver to make a runny paste. Usean oral syringe to get it down their throat.

Parvo in Puppies:

Ingesting Something Poisonous:Ingesting Something Poisonous:

When it comes to our pets and poisons, we don’t want to chanceendangering our pet’s lives with home remedies. This is when going to theVet is a really good idea! However, while you are on your way to the vet, orif you can catch it right away you can treat your dog or cat with thefollowing methods:Immediately when you suspect your pet has eaten something poisonous tothem give 3 % hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, (10 ml per 15pounds of the dog’s body weight) with an oral syringe, or turkey baster bysquirting or just dribbling the liquid onto the back of throat untilswallowed.(Bring any resulting vomit and take it, along with the poison container orother substance that you think you dog may have ingested and take it tothe veterinarian.)If your pet got into something non-edible or something very toxic (like darkchocolate), induce vomiting by giving the hydrogen peroxide. This will resultin a foamy vomit (so do this outdoors, or have some newspaper handy forcleanup). After the vomiting stops, wait 2 hours and administer thefollowing mixture with a syringe:1capsuleofprobiotics(acidophilus)1teaspoonofactivatedcharcoal1/2cupofwarmcolloidalsilverMix together and give by oral syringe.

Note: If chocolate, poison or anything else was ingested longer than 1 hourago, and symptoms such as drooling, shaking, or trembling occur, see youremergency veterinarian ASAP.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

If you are a breeder of naturally-reared dogs, or have a non-vaccinatedpuppy, it is good to know how to treat certain dog illnesses yourself. Irecommend knowing this because at certain times you might need to jump inand DIY. Of course there are times when using the conventional veterinarysystem and their skills is necessary. Parvo might be one of those times. However, sometimes the vet isn’t able to be there, or their drugs just aren’tworking, or they have given up. This doesn’t mean you should give up. By allmeans, don’t! And, if you are stuck without a vet nearby, this is importantinformation to help those puppies.

I am adding this section for those who are serious about home treatment asan example of what can be done with natural medicine to treat viruses. Parvo is an example of a condition that responds well to these home caremethods, when often veterinary care is not as successful. Please don’t trythis unless you are experienced in home care and able to be consistent, which is the key to being effective when working with puppies in this way. Treating Parvo can be tricky, when your vet does not offer anything thatworks, I recommend going after parvo aggressively with holistic methods.First of all you will need a couple of quarts of colloidal silver. This is a verytime consuming method but you can and will most likely save the life of yourpuppy.

Colloidal silver has even been known to help cure the deadly Parvo virus inpuppies when given to them very aggressively, even as much as seven ormore ounces a day, depending on the size of the puppy, along with othersubcutaneous hydration methods. The subcutaneous ringer hydrates thepuppy, using a sterile bag of saline solution that is connected to a tube witha needle, and which is inserted under the skin. Please google this method formore information. These are inexpensive and a good addition to your firstaid kit.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Here is a holistic parvo treatment method that has been used by naturalrearing breeders with great success: Colloidal silver and plain Pedialyte (apediatric formula for children which can be purchased at any drugstore). Addin a few drops of Oregon grape root, astragalus, echinacea and ginsengtinctures, given a few times a day orally, along with 1 tsp. of coconut oil and1 drop of oil of oregano, added to the coconut oil.

Another similar method is to give homeopathic aconite in a 200c dose, followed by the Australian Bush Flower Emergency Essence (this emergencyflower essence can be purchased on amazon.com) plus the bentonite clayand a 50/50 colloidal silver/pedialyte mixture, to which you can add a fewdrops of astragalus, ginseng and Oregon grape tinctures. (These can bepurchased online or at your local health food store, preferably glycerinextracts.)

You will need to administer it every couple of hours throughout the night andday until you see your pet is fully recovered.

On average, you’ll need to give them a quart or two per day of 20 ppmcolloidal silver, depending on the size of the pups. Give about 5 to 10 ml at atime depending on size of dog. (Or, if you are using the Pedialyte mixture, itwould be a quart or two of the mixture.)

All the while, in between these doses of colloidal silver, you will give themthe activated charcoal water (2 tbsp. of activated charcoal to 1 cup water)two times a day. You will need to have an oral syringe to get this down thethroat as they are not going to be drinking.

You need to be extremely diligent with this protocol. Don't give up. With allcolloidal silver, keep giving HUGE amounts, even up to 3 or 4 quarts.Whatever you do, DO NOT give up! You can save a very sick puppy with thismethod.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Again, you should also have a subcutaneous bag for administering salinesolution as well. This is called a “lactated ringer” bag and can be purchasedthrough a vet or online. This is done by inserting a needle under the skin ofthe pup. It is fairly easy to hydrate them in this manner. However, you willneed a helper to assist you.

Colloidal silver is widely known to eliminate the deadly parvo. Many naturalrearing breeders use it successfully, however, you must consistent.

If you have other dogs on the property that have been exposed, give it tothem as well in large doses. This is a good time to buy a colloidal silvergenerator of your own!

Fleas/mites/ticks etc: All animals: Add colloidal silver to daily water, and spray directly on fleas if you have them. Helps boost their immunity andfleas do not like silver coating their bodies. Use a natural cedar essential oil-based flea and tick spray. Add about ½ cup ACV and about 1 quart of wateror colloidal silver. If you make your own CS, you can use the entire quart. Then add about 1/2 teaspoon of cedar essential oil, and either rosemary, peppermint or lemongrass as well. Shake and put in a spray bottle. Useeveryday during flea season before going to the dog park, or anywhere fleasmay be present.

A good herbal parasite dust can be made from the following herbs:

Powdered rosemary

Powdered rue

Powdered wormwood

Diatomaceous earth

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Mix together in equal parts and apply before going to any area where ticksand fleas may be present. I use geranium oil on their collars when going intotick-infested woods.

There are many different kinds of rose geranium oil on the market. However, the best one for repelling ticks goes by the botanical name pelargoniumcapitatum x radens. The more popular rose geranium oil under the namepelargonium graveolens is from the same family, but not the same species. Itis not as effective against ticks. You can get pelargonium capitatum x radenson amazon.com.

Please!!! Whatever you do, avoid at all costs the expensive monthly pills andone drop applications that are filled with deadly chemicals. Pharmaceuticalscause many unpleasant side effects and hasten the demise of your belovedanimal.

A few more tips for fleas: Sprinkle DE (or the herbal formula above), usinglike flea powder on your pet’s coat every day or two and rub into skin.Although is is a bit drying to the skin, you can use this if the fleas are veryproblematic, or just stick to the spray recipe. Also, DE sprinkled on beddingworks quite well; you can even sprinkle DE or borax on carpets and furnitureovernight. (I prefer borax in the house). Vacuum up or leave it as you prefer. You can also sprinkle on baseboards, in cupboards, and so forth, to kill fleasand other bugs safely.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

In addition, you can give dogs nutritional yeast and raw garlic to repel fleas, along with a healthy diet. This really helps keep the dog undesirable to pests.

Parasites/Worms: Add colloidal silver to water bowl daily as an adjunct tothe parasite prevention program. Add extra DE, kelp, garlic and groundpumpkin seeds to food and in treats. Continue to give daily for prevention, orpurchase our holistic de-wormer here: DE-WORMER.

I also recommend an excellent natural parasite product here if you prefergiving something else beyond the above protocols: HERBAL PARASITEFORMULA

Hot spots and/or dry skin: There are two treatment possibilities. All animals:

#1) Rub area with coconut oil and bathe with baking soda water (no soapand no rinsing). Or, use our Colloidal Silver Shampoo. Then spray hair andskin with colloidal silver several times a day.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

For aging, health-compromised pets: All animals: Coconut oil or golden paste, apple cider vinegar in food and always colloidal silver in their water bowl tokeep away any secondary pathogens and boost immunity. Diatomaceousearth added to their diet helps give them energy, ease any pain, and makehealth conditions better. It’s great for general health.

Kidney issues: All animals: Apple cider vinegar works very effectively whenadded to water. Give extra colloidal silver. Kombucha tea also works well. Inaddition, add diatomaceous earth to their food. Powdered nettles in theirfood is helpful as well.

For illness such as viruses, cancer, bacteria, or almost any animal illness : Allanimals: Give extra amounts of colloidal silver via oral syringe directly intothe mouth up to 7x per day. Large amounts are not going to hurt them sogive it generously when your pet is ill. Also, give Golden Paste, DE and applecider vinegar. Add extra colloidal silver to their pure water. Give Kombuchatea if you make it, or digestive enzymes and probiotics. Look into gettinghigh CDB cannabis extract in tincture form for cancer patients.

Also you can give baking soda water (be careful giving to cats).

For Wound CareIf the wound is bleeding heavily, add turmeric powder to stop the bleeding,or you can have an herbal powder on hand made with equal parts cayennepowder and dried yarrow leaf, a superb wound healer and styptic in use sinceancient times. Make sure the yarrow is ground down to a powder and mixherbs equally. Keep in a shaker bottle to have on hand to stop bleeding inwounds and cuts. (Don’t worry, the cayenne won’t burn in this externalapplication.)

Then, colloidal silver sprayed directly onto wounds is a good next step afterthe bleeding has stopped. Give homeopathic calendula internally. Then spraycalendula oil on the wound.

As an alternative to the calendula oil, you can make healing salve withcolloidal silver, clay and coconut oil. If you can find the weed plantaingrowing in your yard crush it up and add to above. Note that there are twovarieties of plantain. Both are safe and effective.

Wash the area with colloidal silver, very dilute hydrogen peroxide, or bakingsoda water daily. Then re-apply the salve or calendula oil.

If you make kombucha, use a kombucha scoby like a bandage directly on thewound and tape it down if possible. You can also use a plantain or comfreyleaf as a bandage.

Infected wound, abscess or inflamed hot spot: For all animals: Mix rawcoconut oil or animal healing salve made with plantain and comfrey root, ifyou have it, and 1 tsp. powdered activated charcoal, 1 tsp. of colloidal silver, some organic turmeric powder (or fresh grated root if you can get it); mixthis all together into a type of salve. Apply directly to the wound. (Orpurchase our Herbal Salve or Colloidal Silver Balm.)

This salve is healing, soothing and antifungal, antibacterial and detoxifying, and will help to stop the drainage and bleeding.

Mange, rashes, other skin issues: Bathe thoroughly in baking soda water andapple cider vinegar, (or our colloidal silver shampoo for pets), and spray withcolloidal silver after the bath. When completely dry, sprinkle on thediatomaceous earth and work it into the fur. I recommend wearing gloves.Give both the DE and the colloidal silver internally . You can use the animalsalve or coconut oil on any skin issue as well.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Ear cleaning solution: For dogs only, unless you research using it for cats andother animals:1/2 cup witch hazel½ cup colloidal silver

1 Tbsp. or so apple cider vinegar

Can be added: A few drops of oregano oil

Or, lavender essential oil

Use cotton swab, gauze or washcloth to clean ears

For ear infections, I prefer to put the colloidal silver straight into the ears 3-7times a day for a day or two.

For pink eye and eye infections:

Homeopathic euphrasia 30c pellets directly in the mouth. Also succussed(vigorously shaken) with distilled water (the small white pellets are dilutedand shaken in water), directly into the eye. Colloidal silver in the eye up to 7xa day until infection is gone. This takes a day or two.

SUMMARYRemedies you can use and reasons for using them

It adds minerals to the diet.

Coconut oil: Virgin/raw/organic: Used for general health daily gives a shinycoat and is great in wound and mouth care and for general pain.

Nutritive herbs: Alfalfa, kelp, and nettles are my favorite nutritive herbs toadd to the diet for the occasional boost. Or to use daily when needed tobuild the immune system and add more minerals and vitamins. Also milkthistle for occasional detoxing when needed.

Baking soda: Bath animals in baking soda water and not rinsing it off is agreat solution for odor control.

Hydrogen peroxide: Food grade only (and very diluted only): Can be addedto water for very debilitating sickness or cancer. 35% food-grade hydrogenperoxide is a part of The One-Minute Cure. Research this online for more info.

Basically the concept is this: HP is used in extreme illness, as pathogenscannot exist in the presence of oxygen. Food grade hydrogen peroxideincreases oxygen levels. There are many medicinal uses for pets using a35% food grade hydrogen peroxide. Please do some research on this. Do notuse it without knowledge and only use food grade, highly diluted.

Pure water: This is a must. Pets should only drink the water we’d drink. Mostunfiltered water is filled with toxins and chlorine, one of the most toxicchemicals on earth. if you water is city water, filter it for pets!

Kombucha tea, scoby plus kombucha culture: Can be used just like applecider vinegar. Has tons of good probiotics. Great health benefits. Makes agreat rawhide-like chew treat.

Essential oils: Especially lavender, oregano, and tea tree oils should be onhand; chamomile and peppermint as well. Essential oils and cats do not getalong for the most part, but for dogs they are very helpful for many stressfulsituations

Golden Paste: Turmeric is known for many wonderful anti-inflammatoryuses. It can be used to relieve joint pain and many other types of chronicpain in pets and humans. It is a wonderful addition to any aging creature’sdiet.

Golden Paste Recipe:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup (125 mls/60 gms) turmeric powder

1 cup water (250 mls) PLUS 1 cup water in reserve, if needed

1/3 cup (70 mls) of one of the following oils: raw (unrefined) cold-pressed coconut oil, or virgin/extra virgin olive oil

2-3 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

Omit pepper if your pet just cannot tolerate it. The absorption of turmeric willstill be improved by cooking the paste AND by the inclusion of oil. Justremember that it will be less effective without the pepper.

Bring the turmeric and water to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer untilyou have a thick paste. This should take about 7-10 minutes and you mayneed to add additional water along the way.

Holistic Pet Home Care Tips

Add the freshly ground pepper and oil at the end of cooking, when theturmeric and water mixture has cooled down to just warm. Stir well toincorporate the oil and allow to cool.

The Golden Paste will keep for two weeks, refrigerated.

Freeze a portion if you think you have too much to use within two weeks.
