Phuket is the biggest island on the west coast of Southern Thailand region. With a total area of about 543 square kilometres, it nearly equals Singapore in size. Phuket is located approximately 862 kilometres South of Bangkok and 180 km West of Krabi. It is linked to Phang Nga province on the mainland by the Sarasin Bridge. The hot and humid climate of Phuket can be divided into 2 seasons, summer from December to April and rainy from May to November.Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and currently from tourism and long-stay residents from Europe and allover the world. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign traders’ ship logs. The Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traded with Phuket. Phuket has about 340,000 inhabitants. Agriculture remains important to a large number of people, and covers a large part of the island. Principal crops are rubber, coconuts, cashews, and pineapples. Prawn farming has largely taken over the east and south coasts. Pearl farming is also important. The island has long been a favoured travel destination European tourist and offers something for everyone; peaceful beaches and hectic and exciting city life. Phuket is blessed with magnificent coves and bays, and powdery, palm-fringed beaches, sparkling island-dotted seas, sincerely hospitable people, superb accommodation and seafood, delightful turn-of-the-century Sino-Portuguese architecture, numerous sporting and leisure opportunities and a lush tropical landscape — all of which combine to create a delightful ambience for truly memorable holidays.Phuket has some of the most ideal and breathtaking beaches in the worlds. The best known includes Patong which has developed a lively night time-scene. There are also more sedate beaches like Kata and Karon, sharing Phuket’s wonderful coastline with the Andaman Sea.

Staff were very nice........................................................................................................................................................................................

I am really enjoy my stay at there which i am going to Thailand for my holidayWe just stayed there one night. It was a very cheap stay also due to a 75% discount from agoda. huge and clean rooms, hot shower and a comfortable bed and a small balcony. If you are up to shopping and party this is perfekt but also it is not that noisy

Mostly ok, considering it was very cheap, but were charged for deluxe rooms and placed in superior. I complained to the manager, we were offered the deluxe rooms (which weren't suitable anyway because we needs three rooms together for our family) or a refund. Chose refund which was processed quickly by agoda. Complained three times or more also to manager about dirty pool water but nothing was done. Also accused and made to pay 100b for glass missing from room- cleaning woman was very quick to accuse us but we were only given the one glass for the room, but ultimately now worth arguing over....maybe a scam nevertheless.

The main reason picking this hotel is its super competitive price. Then I find its location very convenient. On the main road, around 7 mins walk to Jungceylon. Wifi at lobby but not in the room. American style motel, large bed, no windows. The bathroom could be better.

It's good to wear light weight long pants when going to the elephant excursions. You can wear shorts - but make sure they are longer. It will be really hot - so light weight shirts - maybe even with long sleeves are good. You can easily roll them up.

Many visitors will enjoy exploring Banzaan Market in Patong, a modern-looking Thai fresh market on Sai Kor Road, right behind the megamall Jungceylon. Basically, you can get anything that one would expect from a local market here but in a much more pleasant environment. Prices are reasonable.

The Banzaan Market is the brainchild of a well-known Phuket family who sought to offer shoppers an alternative experience other than visiting a typical local market. The word ‘banzaan’ means fresh market in Hokkien, a Chinese dialect popular among many overseas Chinese communities throughout Southeast Asia.

Srilanka

Sri Lanka (/sriːˈlɑːŋkə, -ˈlæŋkə/ or i/ʃriː-/; Sinhala:, śrī laṃkāva, Tamil: இலஙகை, ilaṅkai), officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in the northern Indian Ocean off the southern coast of the Indian subcontinent in South Asia; known until 1972 as Ceylon (/sɨˈlɒn, seɪ-, siː-/), Sri Lanka has maritime borders with India to the northwest and the Maldives to the southwest.

Sri Lanka has a documented history that spans over 3000 years. Its geographic location and deep harbours made it of great strategic importance from the time of the ancient Silk Road through to World War II. Sri Lanka is a diverse country, home to many religions, ethnicities and languages. It is the land of the Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils, Moors, Indian Tamils, Burghers, Malays, Kaffirs and the aboriginal Vedda. Sri Lanka has a rich Buddhist heritage, and the first known Buddhist writings were composed on the island. The country's recent history has been marred by a thirty-year civil war which decisively but controversially ended in a military victory in 2009.

John Hagenbeck, who initially started the Dehiwala Zoo, belongs to a family engaged in animal circuses. He collected and kept the animals in this premises for trade. Mr. Hagenbeck exported wild animals to Europe to his brother Carl Hagenbeck who was one of the biggest animal dealer in Europe at that time. To hold the animals before exporting them to Europe he bought 05 acres of land at Dehiwala at the beginning of the century. This became quite popular among the residents of the area. The total area of the collection centre was increased to 11 acres to hold the animals received. Subsequently the centre was taken over by the government in 1936. The extent of the land was increased gradually to present status of 23 acres. (11 ha. Approximately).

While you are in Phuket it is worth sampling some real southern Thai food. Some of these you may have heard of and even tried before, such as Gaeng massaman and panaeng, both types of delicious curry. Others you most certainly would never have heard of, many of which are equally delicious.Southern Thai food makes more use of coconut milk than elsewhere in the country. Curries are richer and creamier. The cuisine is influenced by nearby Malaysia; spices such as cumin, cloves, turmeric and aniseed, which are not used elsewhere in Thailand, are commonly used here. As a result of the heavy muslim influence, less pork is consumed here than in other parts of Thailand. In Phuket, because many of the local people are descendants of Chinese migrants, the cuisine has a strong Chinese influence. This combined with southern Thai food and muslim food makes a very unique and interesting cuisine. We have compiled a brief guide to some southern Thai and Phuket specialities that you won’t find in Thai restaurants overseas. You will be hard pressed to find these in the more touristy areas such as Patong, so you need to head for Phuket City. Alternatively, for great muslim dishes such as the massaman curry, head for Surin beach or Kamala.
