It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage ladies timepiece from the Bulova firm, a finely engraved 14kt White Gold Filled model with matching original bracelet that dates to 1928. I have collected and sold vintage Bulova timepieces for a long time and I can honestly say that it is rare to find a 1920s mode with its original band still attached like this, a finely pierced and filigree engraved example with expansion links.
Triple-signed for Bulova, it measures 28mm lug tip to lug tip and 15mm in width (17mm with original flower engraved crown). This works out to be 1-1/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, manual wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver enamel finished (over sterling silver) dial is in flawless condition, professionally restored to its original status. It features black enamel numerals, a crisp checkered 60 minute inner track border, original blued steel Spade-tip hands and a finely engraved center dial. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and embossed SWISS at the dial base, below the bezel.
The solid glass crystal is in flawless condition, removed in some photos to minimize glare on the dial. The case is a 14 Karat White Gold Filled beauty, a tour-de-force of Art Deco embossing and geometric engraving, in excellent condition. The winding crown is 100% original and is, in fact, a small flower complete with tiny flower pedals. These crowns are harder to find than the blue sapphire cabochon crowns popular during this era. It is in very good condition and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent condition, complete with a finely engraved border and

tastefully inscribed “Laura L. Bernier” in the center. Peeking inside via the secure hinged back case (opens and closes perfectly), I find a fully serviced and high grade Oval-shaped Fifteen Jewel, manual wind movement – signed Bulova Watch Co., SWISS, [Caliber] 5AP – Fifteen 15 Jewels, Four 4 Adjustments. Note how there is an inner crystal and bezel that protects the movement from dust – a useful feature called that Bulova called its “Dust-Tite Protector.” The movement is stamped with a “Crescent Moon” date code, indicating this watch was produced in 1928. The inside of the case lid is signed Pat. June 10, 1924 – Bulova 14K Gold Filled – New York.
Fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated) just last week, this watch winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on an original Art Deco design “MAXIM” band – not marked for content but probably gold plated and the same color as the case. The visible areas of the band are in excellent condition while the underside of the link sections do show some wear from age (not seen when wearing). This watch with band measures 6-3/8 inches non-expanded and can stretch about 1-1/4 inches more. All in all a very nice, well preserved find from the Jazz Age – made by one of the very best.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1868, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen, Switzerland has produced some of the finest watches ever, on par with Vacheron & Constantin, Rolex and Patek Philippe in terms of the precision and caliber of its movements. Founded by the American Fred Seeland and notable as the only watch making firm in German Switzerland.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage gent’s IWC timepiece, an 18kt Solid Yellow Gold model that dates to ca 1942. This triple-signed watch is in excellent condition, a less often seen square “Tank” form example from the firm (most that I find are in round cases).
The case on this timepiece measures 37.5mm from lug tip to lug tip and 26mm in width (27.8mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches in length by just over 1 inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original IWC Calibre 62, manual wind mechanism that is in excellent condition, inspected and serviced by my valued watchmaker David just last week and keeping accurate time.
The silver, butler enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status and nicely done. It features a 60 minute checkered outer track, applied gold Roman numerals and square, faceted markers, gold metal Leaf-style hands and a separate seconds dial with ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed International Watch Co. Schaffhausen below the 12 marker and

SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is gently curved on all four sides and in excellent condition, a new replacement. The two-piece case is fully signed IWC and crafted of 18 Karat Solid Yellow Gold. It is in excellent shape with nice teardrop lugs. The gold-finished winding crown is correctly unmarked (for the period) but may be a later replacement. It is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the 18k solid gold back lid is snap-down in design and is free of any wear or personal engravings. The case number is 1119537. Inside is a clean and high-grade manual wind mechanism that is signed INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO. – SWISS with caliber C.62 below the balance wheel and serial number #1,064,059 stamped on one of the lower plates, dating it to ca 1942 according to published production records. The inside of the case lid is finely engine-turned and is stamped with the Swiss 18k gold Goddess Minerva hallmark and also PROBUS IWC SCAFUSIA – 72 - 18K, 0.750 -1119537 (IWC case reference numbers are unique to themselves).
This fine timepiece has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new 18mm deBeer Paris lizard grain calf leather strap with matching gold finished buckle. I believe this is my first late Art Deco “Tank” model from International that I’ve sold and what a great investment – don’t forget that for the last 15 years quality vintage watches have been appreciating at 5% yearly on average, better than any bank!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. This midcentury modern watch features a top of the line 23 Jewel automatic wind mechanism made right here in the United States, - arguably the only American company to (successfully) do so for many years.
Quadruple-signed for Bulova (dial, crown, case & mechanism), it measures 38.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 31mm in width (33.3mm including the partially recessed Bulova-signed winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by just shy of 1-1/4 inches

wide, not including the crown – a somewhat smaller size gent’s watch that is also well-suited to a lady’s wrist, given that sizes have increased over the years. Its twenty three jewel mechanism has been fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated) to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw – untouched since it left the factory half a century ago. It features an incised silver dot 60 second outer chapter, white painted Arabic numerals, original silver steel Lance-style hands with luminous fill and a ‘sweep’ original center seconds hand. Signed BULOVA 23 Jewels below the 12. The “M1” is the firm’s date code for 1961. Taking a look inside I find a clean, original rotor automatic, self-winding mechanism signed BULOVA - U.S.A., 23 JEWELS – [CALIBER] 10BZAC, M1. The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and stamped BBB – SWISS, a case maker mark I have not seen before so this is of interest.
This cleaned, oiled and regulated timepiece winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. My longtime favorite U.S. watch firm is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Elgin, Illinois (the factory had a National Street address). It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago, and the Elgin factory would become the focal point of the town.
Elgin

would offer its first watch for sale in 1867, marking the beginning of fierce competition with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame. Bartlett and Currier would later join the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield.
I am pleased to be able to offer for sale what I think is a very sleek, very elegant vintage timepiece from the Elgin firm. It is a top-of-the-line Lord Elgin model (No. 6910) from ca 1960 and complete with a 23 jewel, 6 adjustment rotor automatic Swiss mechanism. This timepiece features a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold case that is extremely unique – a mid-century Sputnik design with truly one-of-a-kind HOOP lugs. Then take a look at the guilloche “Sunburst” dial – what a combination! I have never seen this Elgin model before, either in person or in reference book, until now.
Triple-signed for Elgin, it measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 30mm in width (32mm with original crown). In inches this works out to be just under 1-5/8” long by 1-3/16” wide, not including the winding crown. Its Elgin-signed, 653 caliber mechanism has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished guilloche (radiating) “Sunburst” dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct, original status and perfectly done. It features a gold “dot” 60 second outer chapter, raised gold Arabic numerals, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands and original ‘sweep’ gold center seconds hand. Signed LORD ELGIN 23 below the 12 and SELFWINDING above the 6.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition – absolutely no flaws. The two-piece 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold Elgin-signed is Retro Modern design at its finest – complete with oval “hoop” lugs and in excellent PLUS order. The domed gold winding crown, correctly unmarked, is original and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over, I note that the back lid is a snap-down, vacuum seal example that is stamped 14 Karat Gold as shown. It is in excellent PLUS shape with absolutely no wear or engravings, past or present. Inside I discover a clean rotor automatic movement that is signed Elgin 653 – Twenty Three 23 Jewels, 6 Adj. - YXY . The inside of the case back is signed CASED AND TIMED BY ELGIN NATIONAL WATCH CO., STAR WATCH CASE CO. – 14 KARAT GOLD – [Model]

Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (hence, Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “Big Boys” of the Swiss watch making profession and one of my personal favorites along with Omega.
If you are a fan of higher grade, beautiful watches this diamond case, emerald & diamond bracelet Art Deco beauty should be very appealing. It is a truly stellar lady’s 1925 rectangular form watch crafted of 18 Karat Solid White Gold and set with 10 Genuine Diamonds and an additional 4 Triangular Emeralds in both its case and original 14kt Solid White Gold filigree engraved bracelet. One thing I can assure you of is that my photos do NOT do it justice – I must have said “Wooooowwwww” over a space of 5 seconds when I first saw it.
This fully signed hinged case gem measures 29mm end to end and 15mm in width (16.7mm with original engraved flower crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/8” long by 5/8” wide and with original 14k solid gold bracelet it will fit a wrist up to 6-3/4 inches with no problem. This bracelet is very secure, coming together and clicking shut, then with an additional side latch that closes down and finally with a safety chain too. It has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David just prior to auction and its higher grade 15 jewel, 3 adjustment Longines mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping great, accurate time.
The silver matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, even nicer than the photos convey. It features beautiful black enamel “Gothic Deco” numbers, a black checkered 60 minute outer track border and original blue steel Spade-tip hands. Signed LONGINES below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition, a later addition. The hinged back case is 18kt solid white gold and in excellent PLUS condition, complete with fine beaded Art Deco engraving along the bezel, engravings on the sides and solid wire lugs that are in perfect condition.
There are a total of eight diamonds on the case bezel and

an additional two diamonds and four emeralds on the original bracelet. All jewels have been closely inspected and are in excellent order with no flaws. This watch has its original solid white gold “flower” winding crown, complete with finely engraved petals. It too is in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the 18k back lid is clean and shiny with absolutely no engravings or wear, PERFECT. Peeking inside via the hinged back lid I find a higher grade Fifteen jewel manual wind movement that is signed Longines W. Co., Swiss - 4,483,639 – Three [3] Adj – Fifteen [15] Jewels. This serial number dates to ca 1925 and the movement grade (ligne size) is 7.48. The inside of the case lid is stamped AW - 18K W.G – 60914 – 7/48.
The “A.W.” stands for A. Wittnauer, the parent company of Longines in the USA during this period and the correct stamp for this watch. The 7/48 relates to the Longines 7.48 movement caliber that powers this watch.
This fine timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on its original pierced and engraved filigree bracelet, stamped 14K GOLD on the clasp end (as shown) and guaranteed to be as such. It is a good length, not short, and will easily fit a 6-3/4 inch wrist. I have to say that the band is as beautiful (if not even more beautiful) than the watch itself and, together, they are a KNOCKOUT. Simply a stunning timepiece – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am happy to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an automatic wind SEAMASTER model from ca 1957. This example is in very nice condition and is quadruple-signed for Omega (dial, crown, case and mechanism.
Its 14kt Yellow Gold filled case measures 43mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37.6mm with original Omega-signed gold winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-3/4 inches

long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the original Omega crown. It is powered by a high quality Omega 500 caliber, seventeen jewel self-winding mechanism that winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial has been professionally restored to its correct original appearance and is in excellent condition. Features include a 60 second inner chapter, raised gold hour markers, original Dauphine-style hands (some darkening with age) and original ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC with applied gold Omega symbol below the 12 and Seamaster above the 6. It is further signed SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition, a new old stock replacement. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and in very good condition – a few small nicks and scratches but no signs of brassing or abuse, it is in very nice overall shape. The original, notched, yellow gold color Omega-signed crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the screw-down, 14k gold filled back lid is in very good condition, engraved GRS – 6-9-57 in the center as shown. There a few scratches from opening and closing the back but I chose to not polish them out as the case is solid and there is no brassing or wear – the lugs are GREAT as well. Inside I find a rose gold finished mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels - [Caliber] 500, OXG. The serial number of #15,031,093 dates the watch to ca 1956 - 1957 as per available Omega production records. The inside of the case is signed OMEGA WATCH CO. – GX6250 14K GOLD FILLED, L&K, 23,901 .
This watch has been recently serviced to ensure that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on new and high quality 18mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather band with matching gold finished buckle. All in all a nice, fully signed, vintage Seamaster that’s ready to wear.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first (if not the very first) watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches. Prices continue to rise for the early pieces, thus making them a good investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from Movado, an original European market

example that dates to early 1950s (ca 1950 to 1953). It is crafted of 14kt Solid Yellow Gold and its slimmer design is mid-century elegance personified.
Triple-signed, it measures 41.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37.2mm with original gold domed crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide (without the crown). It is powered by its original and high quality 15 jewel, 125 Caliber “Movado Factories” signed mechanism that’s been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, matte enamel finished dial is in great condition – some speckles from age but with great vintage charm (I think). It features a 60 minute outer track border, raised gold diamond and arrow shaped markers, original gold Baton-style hands and a slightly recessed sub-seconds dial with engine-turned center and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed MOVADO below the 12. This dial is not signed “Swiss” but I can assure you it is original. Indeed, European market Swiss watches often don’t have this and they also don’t have mechanisms that are fully stamped for export, such as three letter company codes (i.e., MXI for Movado) or the number of adjustments, jewel count spelled out, etc.
The hardened acrylic crystal is excellent condition and clear, a new old stock replacement. The 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold two-piece case is in excellent shape, a slimmer than normal design complete with curving lugs. The original gold “domed” winding crown is unmarked and in excellent order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is free of any wear or engravings (past or present) and is in excellent PLUS shape…truly pristine. Peeking inside I find a clean, fully serviced manual wind mechanism signed Movado Factories – 15 Jewels – Swiss Made. The caliber number 125 is located below the balance wheel. The inside of the outer case lid is finely engine turned and hallmarked with the Movado trademark of a hand holding pocket watch. It is further stamped 14K – 0.585 – 1155137, 48142.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 19mm black handcrafted deBeer Paris crocodile grain strap with matching gold color buckle. All in all an elegant and original solid 14k gold timepiece from one of Switzerland’s better watchmakers – thanks for dropping by!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy

Long before the Bulova Watch Company would become famous the world over, long before there was a Bulova Astronomical Observatory on top of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, the company existed as a small jewelry store on Maiden Lane in New York City, owned and operated by Joseph Bulova, a Czech immigrant. Some of us now know that a young shop assistant named John Ballard convinced

Joseph to start selling watches directly to other retailers, which eventually led to the establishment of watch factories in both Switzerland and the U.S.A. The rest, as they say, is history.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Bulova timepiece, an all-original ladies “dazzling” Dewdrop cocktail model from 1964 and complete with original display box and guarantee pamphlet. This mid-century, Retro Modern watch is crafted of 10kt Solid Yellow Gold, one of the few Bulova models made with this karat count (the vast majority were 14kt).
Triple-signed for Bulova, its two-piece case measures 27.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 18mm in width (20mm with crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/8" long by 11/16" wide, including the crown. With cord bracelet it will fit a wrist up to 6-7/8 inches and I can adjust this smaller (or larger) for the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and 17 jewel, manual wind Swiss Bulova mechanism that has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory almost 50 years ago. It features raised gold hour markers and gold metal Dagger style hands. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial, below the bezel.
The original acrylic crystal is faceted along the edge and this is what gives Miss Dewdrop her “Dazzle” - in excellent shape. The two-piece case is 10 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent shape, complete with fancy lugs. The matching yellow gold color winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition and signed BULOVA – 10K GOLD – M4. The “M4” is the firm’s date code for 1964. Taking a peek inside I find a clean, fully serviced mechanism that is signed Bulova Watch Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 5AN, BXW, M3 (Bulova movement and case date codes being one year apart is extremely common).
This watch has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping good time. Comes complete with its black cord bracelet strap in excellent condition, a “Finesse USA” stamped example with 12kt RGP clasp. This watch and band will fit a wrist up to 6-7/8” but I can easily shorten (or even lengthen) this for the winner. Included with this watch is its hinged display box, marked

Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of “Omega” for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following Omega timepiece, a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold men’s bumper automatic model that dates to ca 1946 - 1947, one of the earliest models made. When I say “bumper” I am referring to the design of the mechanism and how a swing rotor literally gets “bumped” back and forth (approximately 290 degrees) to power the mainspring. This differs from most automatic (self-winding) watches that have a rotor that swings 360 degrees in both directions.
This quadruple-signed triple-signed timepiece measures 38mm end to end and 32.5mm in width (34mm with Omega-signed gold winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” by 1-1/4” wide, not counting the original crown. My talented and trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 28.10 RA caliber, 17 jewel mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, butler enamel finish dial is in MINT condition – professionally restored to its original status and very nicely done. It features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, applied yellow gold hour markers, gold metal Leaf-style hands and a separate sub-seconds with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed Omega Automatic below the 12 marker and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The new old stock hardened acrylic crystal is in mint condition. The three-piece case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition. Note the nicely curved lugs on this one – my photos do not do it justice. The Omega-signed, yellow gold winding crown is in excellent order as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the snap-down back lid is in excellent PLUS condition – absolutely no wear or personal engravings, past or present. Peeking inside I find a rose gold finished, automatic wind mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., SWISS, Seventeen 17

Jewels with calibre number 28.10 R.A stamped below the balance wheel. The serial number of #10,905,250 dates it to circa 1946 – 1947 as per available production records, very early for a bumper Omega. The inside of the case lid is stamped OMEGA – WADSWORTH - 14K GOLD with case number below.
This excellent and ready to wear Omega has been fully serviced just last week, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer ostrich(grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle – a high quality band that’s well-suited to this watch. All in all an excellent, investment-grade timepiece from one of Switzerland’s very best – these “Bumpers” pre-date the Seamaster and Constellation models and are a must for any serious Omega collection.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The history of the Cartier firm began in 1847 when Louis-Francois Cartier, a master jeweler, established a workshop at 29 rue Montorgueil in Paris. By 1872 his son Alfred had become an associate, bringing his own son (Louis the Second) into the business in 1898. Today, Cartier is one of the premier jewelers in the world.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage ladies Cartier timepiece, a 100% genuine TANK model that dates to early 1980s and is in excellent original condition. Folks, everything about this 18kt Yellow Gold electroplated over .925 Sterling Silver watch is original and genuine Cartier – only the de Beer Europa lizard grain strap is new (with original buckle transferred over).
Triple-signed for Cartier (case, dial and mechanism), it measures 28mm end to end and 20.5mm in width (23.5mm with original cabochon sapphire crown). This converts to 1-1/8 inches long by 13/16 of an inch wide, not including the original winding crown. My skilled watchmaker David has fully serviced its original Cartier-signed 17 jewel, mechanical wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original dark red (or burgundy, oxblood) enamel finished dial is in great condition. It features original gold Spear-style hands and is signed must de Cartier at the top of the dial and SWISS at the base.
The original solid glass crystal is in great condition as well, a few very small scratches (hard to see) but I thought it important to keep things original. The case is 18 Karat Yellow Gold Electroplated over .925 Sterling Silver and is in excellent shape, a classic “TANK” form that was created by Louis Cartier in 1917. Its design was inspired by the new Renault-made tanks (and their footprint) Cartier saw in use on the Western Front during WWI. A prototype of this watch was presented to General John “Black Jack” Pershing of the American Expeditionary Force. The original yellow gold beaded edge, cabochon sapphire winding crown is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch

over I note that the back lid retains its original brush, satin finish and is signed Cartier Paris - .925 – ARGENT – PLAQUE OR G 20M – SWISS – 3 248973 . You will also see that it is further stamped with a series of sterling and Swiss hallmarks.
To access the mechanism there are four screws on the side of the case (two on each side) that need to be taken out. Once they are removed you can lift the bezel and then remove the dial/mechanism from the case. The original mechanism is signed Cartier Inc., 78-1, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss. This is a 2512-1 ETA caliber mechanism, very robust and well made.
This watch has been fully serviced and inspected, ensuring that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new, high quality 15mm black deBeer hand crafted lizard grain band with ORIGINAL yellow gold finished Cartier buckle transferred over to it. It will fit a wrist 5-1/2 to 7 inches in size. All in all an excellent, original Cartier Tank watch that is guaranteed to be 100% as described, 100% genuine but available for a price that won’t set you back a month’s salary like a new one would. Thanks for dropping by!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. Some of us now know that a young shop assistant named John Ballard convinced Joseph to start selling watches directly to other retailers, which eventually led to the establishment of watch factories in both Switzerland and the U.S.A. The rest, as they say, is history.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Bulova firm, a men’s 2182 series Accutron model in excellent, original condition and fully operational. This “hack” set model dates to 1973 (N3) and is a double date model with fancy concave (swooping) bezel.
Quadruple-signed for Bulova/Accutron, it measures a larger 43.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 36.5mm in width (38.5mm with Accutron-signed steel crown). This works out to be 1-3/4 inches long by 1-11/16 inches wide, not including the original crown. It has been fully inspected by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David and has had a new power cell installed. It sets smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The 100% original silver, finely brushed enamel finish dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it was first sold. It features a concave blue and white 60 minute outer track, white lacquered hands, a double-date XXXXXXXX

original gold metal Dauphine-style hands, an incised 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ gold center seconds hand (sweeps very smoothly like a Rolex, not tick, tick!). Signed ACCUTRON below the Accutron logo.
The original acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is so lid stainless steel and in excellent shape. The original Accutron-signed steel winding crown is excellent as well, setting smoothly and able to “Hack” – meaning the movement stops completely when the crown is pulled out.
Turning the watch over I see that the stainless steel back lid has a separate screw-down ring to tighten. This lid shows a few scratches from opening and closing over the years but is in great overall shape. It is signed BULOVA – STAINLESS STEEL CASE – J775358, N3. Inside I find a smooth operating 2180 caliber mechanism signed Bulova U.S.A. 2180 with a U.S. patent number at the top. There is also a rubber O-Ring that was removed in photos that has been reinserted. The inside back lid is stamped 2663 – USE ONLY GENUINE ACCUTRON CELL MARKED 218 and further installation advice.
This watch has been carefully maintained over the last 39 years and it runs well and keeps excellent time. It comes with its original display case, as noted, with the original retailer’s tag “Allan Jewelers – Rochester, Beaver Falls” in the center. This case is in EXCELLENT shape with no damage whatsoever and I’ll make sure it’s carefully packed when shipped. All in all a “complete” package for those who collect Accutrons – you should have at least ONE in your watch collection!

Founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun in Le Locle, the Doxa Watch Company of Switzerland has always found a place amongst collectors of high quality watches that are perhaps lesser known than the “big” brands, much like Mido, Zodiac or Eterna. I have always thought of Doxa providing the elegance of an IWC or Vacheron & Constantin but at a much more affordable price!
I am pleased to offer for sale the

following original timepiece from the firm, a vintage men’s slim design model from the mid 1950s in great original condition. This watch is quadruple-signed for Doxa – on the dial, winding crown, mechanism and case.
Its case measures a larger (for the period) 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 35.5mm in width (36.5mm with original Doxa-signed crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches in length by 1-3/8 inches in width, not including the winding crown. It is powered by its original Doxa manual wind (11-1/2 Ligne, 103 Caliber) seventeen jewel mechanism, fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver matte enamel finished metal dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the Doxa factory. It features gold hour indicators, original gold metal Baton-style hands and a ‘sweep’ gold center seconds hand. Signed DOXA ANTI-MAGNETIC in raised gold & black enameled letters below the 12 and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition, a new addition. The case is a three-piece example that is chromium steel with a stainless steel back lid and is in great to excellent condition, some small scratches on a couple lugs but one of the nicest Doxa case of this material I’ve seen. The original winding crown is signed DOXA and in very nice shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the vacuum seal, snap down solid stainless steel lid is signed with the reference numbers 6447453 – 10338A1. It is in great overall shape with a few light scratches from opening and closing (I have not tried to remove these as the lid still retains its brushed, satin finish). Inside is a clean, 17 Jewel, manual wind movement signed DOXA, S.A., SWISS MADE with ligne size & caliber number 11 ½ - 103 stamped under the balance wheel. The inside of the engine-turned case lid is signed FOND ACIER INOXYDABLE – DOXA S.A., SWISS MADE.
This fine timepiece has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate

Founded by Swiss immigrant Albert Wittnauer in New York City, the Wittnauer Watch Co. became a true watch company in 1880, when the brand was "officially" introduced. Albert, along with his brother Louis (and later Emile) imported complete watches or just mechanisms from its Geneva, Switzerland factory.
In 1889 the company ran its very first advertisement. Appearing in the 20th anniversary issue of the Jewelers' Weekly, the ad notes that the company sold both "plain and complicated" watches, suggesting that it was a source for chronographs and repeating watches. By the 20th century they were firmly established as providing watches, chronometers and military timing devices to the military, famed early explorers and the general public, and are on record for producing the first waterproof watch called the "All Proof" in 1918. Long associated with the Longines Watch Co. via a U.S. partnership the firm is now owned by Bulova, once a great competitor.
I am happy to offer for sale the following men's vintage Wittnauer watch, a truly rarer than hens’ teeth solid sterling silver model in excellent condition. This ca 1930 timepiece is the first I have ever seen in sterling silver from either Longines or Wittnauer that was cased and timed in the USA with an American Made case (Wadsworth of Kentucky). Its scarcity is noted on the inside of the case back, stamped “Alloy Patents Pending”
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 23mm in width (24.5mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches in length by just over 1 inches in width, including the winding crown. It is powered by its original and higher-grade 15 jewel, manual wind “A. Wittnauer” (Albert Wittnauer) mechanism with fine Geneva striping – of equal quality to any Longines mechanism of this time. It has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in pristine condition, the original dial that’s been professionally restored to its original status. It features a checkered 60 minute outer track border, raised gold Breguet-style numerals, original gold hands and a rectangular sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed WITTNAUER below the 12 and embossed/stamped “SWISS” at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece case is Solid

Sterling Silver (.925) and in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely no wear, a nicely stepped, curved lug example. The matching color winding crown is in excellent order as well, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition – absolutely no wear or engravings past or present. Inside I find a clean and high quality mechanism signed A. WITTNAUER CO. – FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS, SWISS – C. 54. The inside of the case lid is stamped WITTNAUER – WADSWORTH QUALITY – STERLING SILVER – ALLOY PAT’S PENDG. with case number below.
This watch has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated prior to auction to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 17mm black deBeer Europa lizard grain calf leather strap with matching color buckle. If you collect Longines and/or Wittnauer watches this is a remarkable and rare example – I doubt I will come across another before I’m pushing daisies!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
