Founded in 1869, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen, Switzerland has produced some of the finest (and I do mean finest) watches ever, on par with Vacheron & Constantin, Rolex or Patek Philippe in terms of the precision and caliber of its movements. Notable as the only watch making firm in German (North Eastern) Switzerland, it was founded by Florentine Ariosto Jones (1841-1916), an American citizen and Civil War veteran (13 th Massachusetts Volunteers). Jones was indebted to both Henri Moser and Aaron Dennison (of Waltham fame) for getting his factory established and its watches are highly sought after today.
I am pleased to offer for sale this excellent and original condition ladies IWC timepiece, an 18kt Solid Yellow Gold teardrop lug model that dates to ca 1950. This triple- signed watch is simply beautiful in person and I don’t feel my photos do its classic, understated elegance justice.
The case on this timepiece measures 28mm from end to end and 21mm in width (22.5mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/8 inches in length by about 7/8 of an inch wide, not including the gold crown. It is powered by its original IWC Caliber 41 manual wind mechanism that is in excellent condition, fully serviced by my watchmaker David just last week and keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in flawless condition – professionally restored to its original status. Founded in 1869, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen, Switzerland has produced some of the finest (and I do mean finest) watches ever, on par with Vacheron & Constantin, Rolex or Patek Philippe in terms of the precision and caliber of its movements. Notable as the only watch making firm in German (North Eastern) Switzerland, it was founded by Florentine Ariosto Jones (1841-1916), an American citizen and Civil War veteran (13th Massachusetts Volunteers).
This triple-signed watch is simply beautiful in person and I don’t feel my photos do its classic, understated elegance justice.
It features raised silver numerals and hour markers and original gold Lance-style hands. SignedInternational Watch Co. Schaffhausen below the 12 and Swiss Made at the base of the dial.
The low dome, hardened acrylic crystal is excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is fully signed IWC and crafted of 18 Karat Solid Yellow Gold. It is in excellent PLUS condition and features curved “teardrop” lugs that are best appreciated when seen in person. The gold finished winding crown (unmarked) is in excellent order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the 18k solid gold back lid is snap-down in design and in excellent PLUS shape, free of any wear or engravings, past or present. Inside is a clean and high-grade 17 Seventeen Jewel, manual wind mechanism that is signed INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO. – SWISS with caliber C.41 below the balance wheel and serial number #1,228,400 stamped on the lowest plates (very hard to see!). This serial number corresponds to a 1950 production date. The caliber 41 was one of IWC’s most successful ladies mechanisms, used from 1948 to 1972. The inside of the case lid is finely engine-turned and is stamped with the Swiss 18k gold Goddess Minerva hallmark and also PROBUS IWC SCAFUSIA – INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO., SWISS - 18K, 0.750 -1420879 (IWC case reference numbers are unique to themselves).
This fine timepiece has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new 10mm (non-IWC) black alligator grain

Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega

watches are only going UP in value.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Omega timepiece, a ladies 14kt White Gold Filled example that dates to ca 1969. This “cocktail” style watch is in excellent original condition inside and out – a mid-century design that is as elegant today as when it was made over 40 years ago.
Quadruple-signed for Omega (dial, winding crown, case & mechanism), it measures 26mm lug tip to lug tip and 17mm in width (19mm with original Omega-signed crown). This equates to just over 1 inch long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not counting the winding crown and it is fitted on a black cord bracelet strap making the total wearable measurement 7-1/2 inches. I can also shorten or lengthen this for the winner at no charge. Its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver brushed satin enamel finished silver dial is in flawless shape, untouched since it left the factory. It features raised silver hour markers (the 12, 3, 6 and 9 with black lacquer finish) and silver steel Baton-style hands, also with a black lacquer finish. Signed OMEGA below the 12 (with raised Omega symbol trademark) and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The original crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case, in excellent PLUS condition, featuring faceted lugs and it is14 Karat White Gold Filled. The matching and original white gold winding crown is in excellent shape, signed with the Omega symbol and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition like the rest of the watch and with no wear or inscriptions. It is stamped 14K G.F. B&A at the edge. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind movement that is stamped Omega Watch Co. - Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 485, Swiss, OXG. The serial number of #32,784,493 dates this watch to 1969 - 1970 as per published production records. The inside case lid is stamped OMEGA WATCH CO. –14K G.F., B&A with case numbers below.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new old stock black cord bracelet strap that measures 7-1/2 inches in total wearable length. I can also shorten (or lengthen) this for the winner, just let me know your wrist size and consider it done. Folks, this is truly an investment grade watch that just sparkles in person, a true “time capsule” from one of Switzerland’s very best watch firms and my personal (Swiss) favorite.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first (if not ‘the’ first) watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the Movado factory, a Tempo-Matic “SUB-SEA” model that dates to ca 1965 and is in excellent, original condition. This is the first time I have ever had a Tempo-Matic (self-winding) Movado and I have to say I am very impressed with its elegant mid-century style and high quality construction. Compared to Longines and Omega models of the same era, comparatively few Movado automatic watches were made, making them more of a conversation piece when on the wrist.
Quadruple-signed, its all stainless steel case measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (36mm with Movado-signed crown). This is a nice size for the period and it works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just under 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original and higher-grade 17 jewel, 600 caliber rotor automatic Movado mechanism that has been fully serviced by my

trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, matte enamel finish dial is in pristine condition – guaranteed to be untouched since it left the factory 47 years ago. It features a 60 second outer chapter, raised silver hour markers, original silver steel hands and a ‘sweep’ original silver center seconds hand. Signed MOVADO below the 12 (with trademark) and TEMPO-MATIC above the 6 marker. It is further signed SWITZERLAND Tat the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic armored crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The Movado-signed case is Solid Stainless Steel and in excellent condition as well, a two-piece example with screw down back lid. The original stainless steel winding crown is signed with the Movado trademark and in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that screw-down stainless back lid is in excellent overall shape (a few light scratches) and is stamped SUB SEA, as shown. Taking a look inside I find a rose gold finished mechanism that has a fancy rotor that is designed with the “M” for Movado logo – a very cool detail! It is stamped Movado Factories, Swiss – 17 Seventeen Jewels with caliber number 600 stamped below the balance wheel. The inside case back is signed with the “M” company logo and STAINLESS STEEL, FAB. SUISSE, MOVADO FACTORIES SWITZERLAND, 16001.
This timepiece has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap with chrome steel buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. Trust me when I say this is a truly a knockout of a watch – whoever gets this in the mail is going to be a very happy new owner…I was quite hesitant to sell this one before I could enjoy wearing it!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the Bulova firm, a “Space Age” design, LED display Computron Sideview model from 1977. This is the first time I have had this trapezoid designed Model 255 – heck, it’s the first time I’ve ever had a digital quartz Bulova watch! As you can see by its wedge shape, it was designed to be a “drivers” model, the sideview (or edgeview) screen visible when your hands were on the wheel. Keep in mind, however, that you still needed to use your other hand to press the time button IN to see what time it was (or date), as it was not meant to display the LED numbers unless pushed. Few watch companies made watches like this – with only Girard Perregaux and Mido coming to mind as offering similar LED models.
This watch is 100% original, including its gold electroplated, stainless steel bracelet with Bulova-signed clasp. It measures 37mm end to end, 30mm wide and 13mm thick at its tallest (not including the pusher on right side of case). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/16 inches wide and ½ an inch thick. It is fitted on its original Bulova bracelet that will fit a maximum wrist size of 7-1/2 inches so if you have a larger wrist you can put a 19mm wide replacement strap yourself. My watchmaker David (Bulova-trained) has fully inspected this mechanism and installed two new batteries. You can be assured that this watch functions as it (both time and date functions) should and keeps accurate time.
The original red plexi crystal is in great condition – no chips or cracks, just one light scratch that could buff out if desired. It is signed “BULOVA” in white letters on the bottom right side. The case

itself is 14kt gold electroplated (probably to 20 microns) and is incised or ridged along the top. It is in very good shape with NO brassing or wear but does have some scratches visible that I have not attempted to polish, I have left everything original and as I found it.
The set-flush button on the left side of the case is for setting the time and the date (month/day). With the time, you have the option of setting it to military (24 hour) time as well. The setting feature works as it should and you press the projecting button (on the right side of case) to illuminate the LED readout.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid features a gold electroplated brush finish and a stainless steel center lid with corner screws. In the center is a large battery door that unscrews so the two batteries (inside) can be replaced – I believe they are 393 series batteries. The condition of the back lid is excellent and it is stamped Base Metal Bezel – Stainless Steel Back – Water Resistant – N7 – Bulova Cell 255.
This watch has been fully inspected by my Bulova-trained watchmaker and is fully operational, keeping accurate time. It comes complete with its original Bulova-signed link bracelet with yellow gold electroplated finish that is in great shape. As I noted earlier, it will fit a wrist up to 7-1/2 inches in size and can be adjusted smaller up to an inch by adjusting the clasp. All in all a very cool Bulova Computron that is a must for any collector of vintage digital watches.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession and one of my favorite brands to collect myself.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Longines firm, a smaller size men’s military officers model that dates to ca 1912 – immediately prior to the outbreak of WWI. This wire lug, sterling silver watch was imported into the United Kingdom as ordered by Alfred Baume & Co. (as stamped B&Co.), Longines agent for the British Commonwealth and all serial numbers (on mechanism and case) correctly match.
Fully signed, it measures 36mm lug tip to lug tip and 31mm in width (33.3mm with winding crown). This works out to be a bit over 1-3/8 inches long by just shy of 1-1/4 inches wide, not including the crown.
Albeit quite a normal size for an early gent’s wrist watch it is best described (by today’s standards) as a ¾ size men’s watch or “boy size.” It is ideal for the gentleman who prefers a smaller watch or for a woman who wants an antique timepiece with more ‘presence’ on the wrist and if a woman wins this watch I would recommend an alternative watch strap shown at the bottom of the auction (a more simple two-piece example). My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel (caliber 11.62) mechanism to ensure that it runs very well and keeps accurate time.
The 100% original white porcelain enamel dial is excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory and without any chips or visible hairlines. It features a 60 minute outer track border, “angled” black enamel Arabic numerals (including a RED 12) and black Spade-style hands. As with many Swiss watches imported to the UK at this time it is not signed with a makers name on the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition, an antique, new old stock replacement. The four-piece, double hinged case is crafted of .925 Sterling Silver and complete with solid wire lugs. It is in excellent condition with NO wear or dings, extremely well preserved.
The silver steel winding crown is in excellent order and operates smoothly. You will note that there is a separate setting button below the winding crown. This is called a “Nail-Set” because you use your fingernail to press it “IN” so you can them rotate the hands with the winding crown. Once you are finished setting the time you release the button. This is something that you quickly get used to, doing so before you strap the watch on to your wrist.
Turning the watch over, I note that the sterling back lid is in excellent condition with no wear or engravings. Lifting

this lid reveals an inner dust cover (also hinged) that is unadorned and crafted of sterling silver. Lifting this second lid reveals a clean, original gold finished mechanism that is signed 15 JEWELS, SWISS MADE. It is further stamped 11.62 – B&Co. below the regulator bridge. The 11.62 is the ligne size/grade and “B&Co. stands for Baume & Co. You will also see that I had my watchmaker David take a photograph of the top of the mechanism, with the dial removed. It is clearly stamped Longines, B & Co. and carries the serial number 2,746,982 - dating it to 1912 as per Longines production records. You will see that this serial number is also stamped on the inside case lids, ensuring originality. The inside of the outer case lid (both lids are signed) .925 – U – r – 2,746,982 - SWISS and the second lid is further stamped AB.
This information tells us quite a bit. The “AB” stands for Alfred Baume, the .925 is for its silver content, the “U” is the London assay mark, the “r” is the London date letter for 1912 and the serial number is the actual mechanism serial number, dating it to 1912 as well. The “Swiss” stamp tells us the entire watch, including the case, was made in Switzerland.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated timepiece winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new, high quality 10mm black oil leather Kitchener style two-piece strap, especially designed for wire lug watches. As I said earlier, if you a woman who wins this and would prefer a more simple watch band I can put on a dark brown 10mm oil leather strap (as shown below as an option) to give it a more elegant and less military look. All in all an original and higher end antique timepiece that should prove to be a “keeper” for whoever ends up with the high bid.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Swiss immigrant Albert Wittnauer in New York City, the Wittnauer Watch Company. became an official business in 1880, when the brand was “officially” introduced. Albert, along with his brother Louis (and later Emile) imported complete watches or just mechanisms from its Geneva, Switzerland factory. In 1889 the company ran its very first advertisement. Appearing in the twentieth anniversary issue of the Jewelers’ Weekly, the ad notes that the company sold both “plain and complicated” watches, suggesting that it was a source for chronographs and repeating watches.
By the 20th century they were firmly established as providing watches, chronometers and military timing devices to the military, famed early explorers and the general public, and are on record for producing the first waterproof watch called the “All Proof” in 1918. Long associated with the Longines Watch Co. via a US partnership the firm is now owned by Bulova, once a great competitor.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Wittnauer timepiece, a men’s solid stainless steel All Proof 1200 “Execu-Matic” (Model 2453) that dates to ca 1964. When first introduced, both the Longines and Wittnauer All Proof 1200 watches were marketed as being extra thin and hermetically-sealed, making them better protected than most watches against common watch hazards.
Triple-signed, this watch measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 33.5mm in width (35mm with steel winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, crown included. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, rotor automatic (self-winding) Wittnauer 11AHS caliber mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David prior to auction to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver brushed satin enamel dial is in great to excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory and a light patina of age. It features raised Arabic numerals that “angle” around the dial, original silver steel Dauphine-style hands and a ‘sweep’ center seconds hand. It is signed WITTNAUER below the 12 with company trademark in silver. It is

further signed Automatic above the 6.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The one-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent condition, complete with angled lugs. The winding crown (with male/female two-piece stem for movement removal) is unmarked and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over, I see that the back of the case is in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely no wear or engravings. It is stamped USE ALL PROOF 1200 WRENCH along with Stainless Steel. Being a one-piece case you access the mechanism by removing the crystal and then the dial/mechanism (as such, my watchmaker took the photographs inside). The rotor automatic mechanism is signed Wittnauer Watch Co. Inc., Swiss [Caliber] 11AHS – Seventeen 17 Jewels, AXA. The inside of the case is stamped Wittnauer, New York – Geneva – Montreal, Star W.C. Co. – Stainless Steel, [Model] 2453 – 11AHS with case number below.
This watch has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer Paris lizard grain hand crafted calf leather Swiss strap with matching chrome steel buckle. All in all a great original “Execu-Matic” watch from the Mad Men era.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. This is a truly beautiful ladies timepiece…a distinctive Ruby & Diamond set design constructed of 14kt Solid Rose Gold that has "wrist" appeal to spare. This cocktail watch was produced just after WWII by the Benrus Watch Co. of New York, a firm established in 1923 by Benjamin Lazrus (and his brothers). Benrus was long the chief rival of Bulova and like its competitor had its headquarters in New York City while also maintaining a watch factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Triple-signed for Benrus (case, dial and mechanism), it measures 33.5mm end to end and 15mm in width (16mm with original rose gold crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/4” long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the winding crown. Total length with rose gold filled snake link bracelet is 7-1/4” - not small! My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel manual wind mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The rose gold, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition. It features raised gold hour markers, plum color steel hands and is signed BENRUS below the 12 marker and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The domed and curved solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with NO flaws. The two-piece fancy shaped case is 14 Karat Solid Rose Gold and in excellent shape...almost a "red" gold. The fancy lugs each feature two genuine rubies and one diamond – making for two genuine diamonds & four rubies, all securely set and in perfect shape. The original rose gold winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the 14k solid rose gold back lid is also in excellent order with no wear or inscriptions. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind movement that is stamped Benrus Watch Co. - Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss – AXZ. The inside of the case back is signed Cased & Timed in the USA by the Benrus Watch Co.- 14 Karat Gold with case number below.
This cleaned, oiled and regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with what may be its original 12k rose gold filled Forstner bracelet with fold-away clasp. This band and watch will fit a wrist up to 7-1/4 inches in size. This watch represents the excitement and optimism of the American people in the years immediately following WWII, a move away from the Great Depression of the 1930s and a long and horrible war. The fancy “Jewel” cases were equally popular amongst men and women and I think this is a really fine example.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of “wrist” watches were available, but for women only! Yes, Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing its first (non-military style) men’s watches in November 1922, a good 10 years after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. Well, they quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.
I am very happy to offer for sale the following vintage Hamilton timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold model that features a total of Forty (40) Genuine Diamonds of high clarity. Dating to 1954 (as per serial number), this example would be considered a “cocktail” or “evening” watch – equally a piece of fine jewelry as it is a reliable timekeeper.
Its quadruple stepped, Art Deco inspired case measures 35mm end to end and 15mm in width (16mm with crown). This converts to 1-3/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the crown, and it is fitted on black cord bracelet strap that makes the overall length 7-1/8 inches, easily adjusted shorter (or longer) by me before mailing to the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and high quality 750 caliber, 17 jewel USA manual wind movement that has been fully

serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory in 1954 and with just a touch of even patina. It features a checkered 60 minute outer track border, black enamel painted numerals and original blue steel Spade-style hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12.
The acrylic crystal is in excellent shape and clear, a new old stock replacement. The case is also in excellent condition, a striking Art Deco beauty that is quadruple stepped down to the lug tips – what a perfect design. It is crafted of 14 Karat Solid White Gold and featuring 40 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity. The matching white gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in great to excellent shape, one small edge ‘ding’ but no wear or personal engravings, very nice. Peeking inside I find a clean barrel-form movement with fancy Geneva striping, signed Hamilton USA – 17 Jewels [Grade] 750 with serial number 776,962A – dating it to 1954. The inside of the case back is clearly stamped 14K, as shown, and is guaranteed to be 14kt solid white gold.
This lovely timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new old stock black cord bracelet with matching color fittings that measures a total length of 7-1/8 inches. If you need the band shortened (or lengthened) just let me know and I’ll have it custom sized before I mail it, no charge. Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s ridged bezel, Tank-form model that dates to 1940. This triple-signed watch is 14kt Solid Yellow Gold and is in excellent condition both inside and out.
Its rectangular case measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 20mm in width (22mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 3/4 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 9L caliber manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in mint condition - professionally restored to its original status and very nicely done. It features a 60 minute outer chapter, raised gold Breguet-style numerals, original gold Leaf-style hands and a recessed, square, sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 and SWISS at the base fo the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS shape, complete with incising (ridging) running along the case sides up to the lug tips. The unmarked, gold finished winding crown (correct for this age) is in excellent order as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the back lid is free of any engravings or wear (past or present) and is in excellent order. Inside is a clean, fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 9L, LXW with serial number 6,059,783, dating the watch to ca 1940 as per production records. The inside case is stamped Cased & Timed in the USA by Longines – Keystone Co., 14K with case number below.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while

Among new and old watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then the company has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is also my favorite Swiss watch firm, unsurpassed when it comes to style and high quality for a not (as of yet) crazy high price.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following larger size vintage men’s Omega timepiece, a 1944 dress model (Ref. 2319/3) featuring a 30T2 PC caliber mechanism, much like the 30T2 SC caliber that was used

Page 26: holben/Descriptions/January 16... · Web viewFounded in 1869, the International Watch Company of Schaffhausen, Switzerland has produced some of the finest (and

in WWII U.S. Army stamped watches but with a subsidiary seconds and not a center sweep. This series is arguably my favorite that Omega did and I am lucky if I find one of these a year.
This triple-signed, all Swiss watch measures a larger 45mm end to end and 37.5mm in width (40mm with unmarked steel crown). In inches this works out to be 1-3/4” long by 1-1/2” wide, not including the Omega winding crown. It is powered by its original 30T2 PC caliber, 15 jewel, manual wind mechanism, fully serviced by my watchmaker David prior to auction and keeping accurate time.
The silver, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status. It features a 60 minute incised ‘gold dot’ outer chapter, black enamel painted Arabic numerals that curve around the dial, original gold metal Leaf-style hands and a larger sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ seconds hand. Signed OMEGA below the 12 with trademark Omega symbol and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a new old stock addition. The three-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition, coming together nice and tight when closed. This is a LARGER size case – measuring 45mm by 38mm at a time when the standard WWII era round Omega watch was around 38mm long by 32mm wide. The vintage domed steel winding crown, unsigned, is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find a stainless steel back lid that is free of any wear or engravings and is in excellent PLUS shape. Removing this lid I find a clean and high quality mechanism (only light, cosmetic rub to the nickel finish on one of the brass top plates), signed Omega Swiss, 15 Jewels with caliber number of 30T2 PC stamped below the balance wheel. The serial number of #10,195,998 dates the watch to 1944 as per production records. The inside of the case lid is finely engine turned and stamped ACIER INOXYDABLE – OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE – 2319/3.
This fine watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 19mm black deBeer lizard (grain) calf leather strap with a nickel free chrome steel German made buckle. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as “Rolex-Gruen” in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more pressing matters) prevented this.
Here is a very nice and original example of a ladies Gruen Guild timepiece, dating to ca 1928 and with vintage charm to spare. Specifically, it is the “Cartouche Model 174”, as found in the Gruen Guild Master Book, and it is set within a finely engraved 14 Karat White Gold Filled (reinforced with “extra gold”) inlaid black enamel case.
Triple-signed for Gruen, it measures 30mm end to end and 17mm in width (20mm with original sapphire tip crown). This works out to be 1-3/16 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not counting the winding crown. It is fitted on a 10mm black leather strap that will fit a wrist from 5-1/4 inches to 7 inches in size.. My trusted and long-time watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, 4 adjustment higher grade mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The sterling silver, enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, the original that has been professionally restored to its exact status. It features black enameled Arabic numerals, a 60 minute inner track border and original blue steel Spade-style hands. Signed GRUEN below the 12 and embossed “SWISS” at the base of the dial, below the bezel.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The case is stamped “14kt Gold Filled Reinforced with Extra Gold” and in excellent PLUS condition, complete with inlaid black enamel panels around the bezel that are in excellent shape as well. The original beaded edge, cabochon sapphire winding crown (the beaded design unique to Gruen) is in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition with no personal engravings and a finely engraved leaf pattern

I have always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high

above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. By 1922, the name Bulova would begin to appear on watch dials and the firm would be the first in the industry in the total standardization of parts.
I am happy to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from Bulova, a ladies finely engraved 14kt White Gold filled model that dates to 1929. This hinged-back watch with matching bracelet is in excellent PLUS condition, complete with its original cabochon sapphire crown.
Triple-signed (case, dial and mechanism), it measures 30mm end to end and 16.5mm in width (20mm with sapphire crown). In inches this works out to be 1-3/16” long by 5/8” wide, not including the original winding crown. It is fitted on a period Art Deco bracelet of matching color with deployment (fold-away) clasp so it’s easy to put on and take off. With its sliding, adjustable clasp, it will fit a wrist 7 inches to 7-1/2 inches in size but I can remove links to make it any size smaller, just tell me the length you require. My Bulova-trained watchmaker, David, has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, 4 adjustment Swiss mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in mint condition, professionally restored to its original status. It is complete with a 60 minute inner track border, black Arabic style numbers and original blued steel Spade-style hands. Note the finely embossed/engraved center dial, quite detailed. Signed BULOVA below the 12
The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece, hinged back case is 14 Karat White Gold filled and in excellent order as well, highly engraved as you can see with volutes, floral motifs and other Art Deco designs – just beautiful. The original cabochon sapphire winding crown is in excellent shape and operates as it should.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid retains its original brush/satin finish and is in excellent condition with no personal engravings or wear. Peeking inside via the hinged back lid (very secure and clicks shut nicely) I note that the movement is protected by its own

crystal and bezel, a very useful feature of many 1920s Bulova watches that protected it from dust and debris called the “Dust-Tite Protector” by the company. The movement is a clean oval-shaped, Fifteen jewel manual wind model that is signed Bulova Watch Co., [Caliber] 6AP - Fifteen 15 Jewels, Four 4 Adj. - Swiss. There is also a date code symbol of a “shield” on the movement, telling us it was produced in 1929. The inside of the case lid is stamped PAT. JUNE 10, 1924 – BULOVA, 14K GOLD FILLED, NEW YORK with case number below.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a vintage “Peerless Wearpruf” (sic) that is a matching color to the watch and with deployment clasp for ease of putting on and taking off. As I noted earlier it is a nice, larger size and will currently fit a wrist 7 to 7 -1/2 inches but I can adjust it smaller by removing links (no charge). This bracelet came with the watch when I obtained it carries a patent number that dates to 1934. All in all a clean, original and ready to wear Art Deco timepiece that should bring out a bit of the “flapper” in anyone who puts it on their wrist. I hope you like “Bathtub Gin” as well!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Bulova firm, a men’s 10kt Yellow Gold filled hinged-back model that dates to 1935. This is the first time I have ever seen this model before and I have to say I appreciate its decidedly Art Deco design with its engraved, triple-stepped sides.
Triple-signed (dial, case & mechanism), it measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 22mm in width (23.5mm with crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide (without winding crown), so while a men’s watch it is equally suited to a woman’s wrist given its mid size. It is powered by its original 17 Jewel, Bulova USA mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black, enamel finished dial is the original that has been professionally restored to its original status, in excellent order. It features a crisp gold 60 minute checkered outer track border, raised gold stylized Arabic numerals and original gold metal Spade-style hands. Signed BULOVA in raised gold lettering below the 12. The absence of a seconds dial or hand makes this more of a “dress” model – where time is important but not the exact second.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition. The two-piece, hinged back case is 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and in excellent PLUS condition, complete with finely engraved banding running along the bezel sides up to the lug tips and very Art Deco triple-stepped sides. The yellow gold finished winding crown, correctly unmarked, is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition with no wear or personal engravings – perhaps nicer than my photo

conveys. It is stamped Bulova – 10K Gold Filled at one edge with a case number on the opposite side. Peeking inside via the hinged case (hinge is secure, case clicks shut nicely) I discover a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind movement, signed Bulova Watch Co., USA – Seventeen 17 Jewels, Adjusted –[Caliber] 6AF. There is also a triangle date code stamp indicating that this watch was produced in 1935.
This fully serviced wristwatch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new old stock 13mm Kreisler crocodile (grain) calf leather strap with matching buckle. All in all a very Art Deco timepiece in excellent, ready to wear condition – perfect for the gent who prefers a smaller watch or for the woman who likes a watch with more ‘presence’ on her wrist.
