Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland is one of the most renowned brands, founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy.
Omega is also my favorite Swiss watch firm to collect, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and comparative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an automatic wind CONSTELLATION model from 1970. This is no ordinary watch but an Officially Certified Chronometer featuring a high-grade 24 jewel mechanism that is adjusted to five positions and temperature.
The Constellation was launched in 1952 and it was the first automatic (self-winding) chronometer. The first version, with its 12-sided “Pie Pan” dial made a sensation as soon as it was released. In 1955 the company took First Place at both the Neuchatel and Geneva Timing Contents. It was the first time that the same firm, the same brand, succeeded in the same year in leading in all the trials for wrist chronometers.
In 1960 an uninterrupted series of 20,000 automatic Constellation movements obtained Observatory Certificates marked “exceptionally good.” In 1962 more than half of all officially certified Swiss chronometer wristwatches were Omega Constellations – something that Rolex could not come close to.
This particular Constellation model is in essentially MINT original condition, a stainless steel model with 14k Solid White Gold coin-edged bezel that is signed for Omega FIVE times (dial, crown, outer case, inner case & mechanism). It measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37mm with original signed crown). In inches this is 1-5/8” long by 1-3/8 wide, not including the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original Twenty Four jewel, 751 Caliber mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, finely woven (textured) dial is in absolutely flawless condition and is guaranteed to be untouched since it left the factory on this watch. Features include a 60 second outer chapter, applied silver and black hour markers, original silver and black metal hands, quickset DOUBLE date window (in both English and French) at the 3 position and ‘sweep’ silver seconds hand. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED with applied white gold trademark Omega symbol below the 12 and Constellationwith applied white gold “star” above the 6. It is further

signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The original Omega Constellation case is a solid stainless steel example with 14 karat solid white gold bezel that is in excellent to mint condition with no wear, all edges and details are very sharp – in keeping with a watch that was worn only a handful of times. The original Omega-signed steel winding crown is in flawless shape as well, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the screw-down back lid is stainless steel and marked with the Omega Constellation “Observatory” in raised detail. Note also the 8 stars in the sky – all crisp and detailed like the observatory. This design is the most important thing to look at when you’re buying a Constellation model as no matter how good someone is with polishing a case (or doing other restoration work) he or she can’t hide the wear to the back lid detailing.
Peeking inside I find a spotless rose gold finished mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss [Caliber] 751 – Adjusted Five [5] Positions & Temperature, Twenty Four 24 Jewels. The serial number is #30,804,934 – dating the watch to 1970 as per Omega production records. The inside of the case back is signed OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE – STAINLESS STEEL – S.F. – 168.029.
This watch has been fully serviced so you can be assured that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. To quickset the numerical date you pull the crown OUT to the second position (and then back in) to advance an entire day. Prior to doing this you set the day of the week by advancing the hands 24 hours as you would traditionally. It comes fitted on new and high quality 19mm black deBeer lizard (grain) calf leather band with matching chrome steel buckle. Whether it be a Constellation or Seamaster, all watch lovers need to have at least one Omega in their collection. How about this pristine original, chronometer grade example?

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Without a doubt, the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield, Illinois (1870 – 1933) is the most coveted (among seasoned collectors) American watch firm. The Bunn family produced wristwatches that best exemplified the feeling and look of the Roaring 1920s, clearly in tune with the style and mood of the era. A higher-end watch in its day, its quality is unsurpassed, one look at its mechanisms testifies to this!
The Illinois firm would be sold to the Hamilton Watch Co. (Lancaster, PA) in 1929, only to succumb to the Great Depression shortly thereafter, as Hamilton could not afford to keep both factories operating. They closed the Illinois plant in early 1933 and would offer the remaining models on hand over the next couple years. Given that the firm only made wristwatches for a very brief time (and better than any other US firm), their rarity and value is markedly increased.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s timepiece from the Illinois firm, a MARQUIS model that dates to 1930 in excellent PLUS condition and boasting a crisp two-tone dial with sub-seconds at the 9 position. Regarding the Marquis, the 1930 Illinois Factory Catalog states “this beautiful, new and distinctive strap model possesses an individuality characteristic of the popular Marquis-Autocrat pocket watch. It is supplied in either 14k white or green gold filled case, with plain or engraved bezel. The entire case is curved to fit snug and conform to the arc of the wrist which assures the wearer the highest degree of comfort. The Marquis-Strap is representative of the progress in artistic merit which has been maintained for years by Illinois.”
Triple-signed for Illinois, its 14kt White Gold filled case measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 29mm in width (32mm with winding crown). In inches this works out to be a tad over 1-1/2” long by a bit over 1-1/8” wide, not including the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, two-tone finish dial has been professionally restored to its original status and is in mint condition, they did a perfect job of preserving the vintage feel but with no radium, just safe materials. Features include a 60 minute checkered outer track border, Greek “fret” style inner border, brown Art Deco style numbers, original blue steel skeleton hands with fill and a separate seconds dial located at the Nine Position, setting this watch apart from the crowd. It is signed ILLINOIS below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition, new old stock and made specifically for the Marquis model. The three-piece 14 Karat White Gold Filled case is barrel or tonneau in form and in excellent PLUS shape – much better than any other Marquis case I’ve seen and complete with crisp engraving around the bezel. The winding crown appears to be the original and is in excellent condition, winding and setting as it should.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent to mint shape, gently curved to comfortably fit the wrist and with absolutely no flaws. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel manual wind movement (6/0 size) that is signed ILLINOIS WATCH CO., SPRINGFIELD - 17 JEWELS and carries the serial number #5,290,633 dating the watch to ca 1930. The inside of the case back is stamped ILLINOIS WATCH SPECIAL MODEL - FAHYS 14K GOLD FILLED with

case reference number below. The name “Fahys” refers to the well-known watch case company headquartered in New York City and with factory in Sag Harbor, NY. Note that the last four digits of this case back number (5318) are repeated on the body of the watch, ensuring all case sections are original to each other.
This fully serviced timepiece winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new 16mm black crocodile grain calf leather strap that looks great on the watch, or dark brown if you prefer too. Go ahead and treat yourself to one of the best watches that America ever offered, these named models are only increasing in value and this one is in excellent shape.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s 14kt Solid Yellow Gold model that dates to ca 1947. This watch is in excellent condition inside and out, complete with faceted lugs and bezel that create a distinct look. Unlike most Longines watches you see on eBay that were cased and timed in the USA this scarcer model was made entirely in Switzerland.
Triple-signed for Longines, it measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 26mm in width (27.5mm with winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1 inch wide, not including the crown. It is

powered by its original 17 jewel, manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black, matte enamel finished dial has been professionally restored at an earlier point and is in excellent condition. It features applied solid gold hour markers, original gold metal Baton-style hands and a separate seconds dial (slightly recessed) with ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 marker.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent shape with no flaws, a later replacement. The case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Yellow Gold and it is in excellent PLUS condition, complete with faceted lugs and faceted bezel corners. The unmarked gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the 14k solid gold back lid is in excellent to mint condition with absolutely no flaws whatsoever, just a mirror-like finish. Inside is a clean, fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 8LN, LXW with serial number 7,429,083 – dating the watch to ca 1947 as per published records. The inside case is stamped LONGINES WATCH CO., SWISS – 14K, 0.585, 487 - [Model] 5850. Note also the “Squirrel” and “Key” engravings, both Swiss gold hallmarks.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 19mm black deBeer hand finished lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching color buckle. All in all a fantastic solid gold Tank form watch from one of Switzerland’s very best and a great investment as well.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Somewhat of an mystery brand amongst collectors, the Technos Watch Company S.A. was founded in 1900 by Melchior Gunzinger in the town of Welschenrohr, Switzerland, part of the Canton of Solothurn. Melchior’s son Joseph took over the day to day operations in 1920 and changed the name to Gunzinger Brothers Ltd. In 1924 he registered the “Technos” name and and began production of both men’s and women’s watches under this brand. By 1970 the firm was the main employer of the town, employing over 450 people and exporting worldwide, particularly in Japan and Brazil. It was this year that Technos was sold to the General Watch Company.
I am pleased to offer for sale a truly harder to find vintage Technos timepiece – a men’s “Wrist Alarm” model that dates to the mid 1960s. Folks, I have never had a Technos alarm watch before and this one is in great, original condition.
This timepiece measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35.5mm with crowns). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not counting the two crowns. Its original 17 jewel, manual wind Swiss mechanism has been fully serviced and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory well over four decades ago. It features raised gold hour markers and numerals, a 60 second outer track border, an inner ALARM track, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands, ARROW tip alarm hand and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed TECHNOS below the 12 and ALARM 17 JEWELS above the 6. At the base it is stamped T SWISS T.
The original (yes, original) hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The three-piece case is comprised of a 14k gold electroplated bezel with stainless steel back lid and treaded screw-down ring. The gold plated bezel is in great to excellent condition with just a touch of wear on a couple lug edges (very minimal but mentioned for accuracy). There are two crowns on this watch, the same gold color but slighting different styles – perhaps to differentiate the two functions or one has been replaced at some point. The bottom crown winds the watch and sets the time like a conventional crown would do albeit you set the hands clockwise only. The top crown is used to adjust the alarm hand and you do this by turning it clockwise and the hand will move backwards (counterclockwise) which is correct. To “set” the alarm you then pull the top crown out. This alarm function works great folks and it buzzes nicely!
Turning the watch over I see

The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of “Girard – Perregaux” came into being. In 1906 G. Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces money can buy.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Girard Perregaux WWII era

military model – an early 1940s example with an original 24 Hour military time dial, the first that I’ve seen. This non-ordnance military service watch (much like a Seahawk model of the same period) features a Swiss patented (Brevet +) hermetic design stainless steel case and is in great condition inside and out.
Triple-signed, it measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 31mm in width (33.5mm with original crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-1/2” long by just under 1-1/4” wide, not including the crown. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism and it runs smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The 100% original silver, butler finished dial is in very nice condition – yes, it has a few age “spots” as you can see but I wouldn’t change the original military look of this one, it has great character. It features a 60 second outer track border (calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision), raised Breguet style numerals, a 24 hour inner dial, original Lance hands and an original ‘sweep’ center seconds hand with arrow tip. Signed GIRARD-PERREGAUX below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a new old stock addition. The two-piece G-P signed case with nice faceted lugs is a hermetic design that requires removing the crown/stem to access the mechanism. It is stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition (this case was also used for Sea Hawk models). The original winding crown is stainless steel as well, in excellent shape and operating as it should.
Turning the watch over, I note that the back lid is free of any personal engravings and is in excellent PLUS condition – absolutely spotless. As I can’t open this watch without taking it apart I had my watchmaker David take the photos of the mechanism and inside back lid. The mechanism is signed Girard Perregaux Co. – Seventeen 17 Jewels – 16 2318 –Swiss, GXM.
The inside of the back lid is finely engine-turned and signed Girard Perregaux Swiss – Brevet + - Stainless Steel – 759. The word “Brevet” refers to its registered/patented case design.
This timepiece has been fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated) to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes complete with a new 16mm black deBeer hand crafted lizard grain strap with steel buckle for a high quality combination. If you prefer a dark brown strap that’s fine too, just let me know. All in all a great original military timepiece from one of Switzerland’s better watch firms.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The “Zodiac” name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the “Datagraphic”, a calendar watch with moon phases and the “Autographic”, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the “Sea Wolf” was introduced and by the 1960s a date model would be offered called the “Sea Wolf Datographic” - retailing for $110, a hefty sum back then. Finally, in 1974 the company had released the “Super Sea Wolf” – pressurized to 2500 feet with a bezel for elapsed time read-outs.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s vintage diving watch from the firm, a Sea Wolf Datographic model that dates to the mid 1960s. Before I say anything else I want to note that this was a hard one to pass on for sale as I love vintage dive watches and this one is in truly excellent ORIGINAL condition.
Five times signed for Zodiac, it measures 43mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (38mm with original Zodiac-signed crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-3/4 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel self-winding rotor automatic mechanism, fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original “pearl” enamel finished dial is untouched since leaving the factory and in truly MINT condition – flawless. It features a 60 second outer track, applied silver markers with tritium inserts, original luminous silver steel hands, semi-quickset date window at the 3 position and a ‘sweep’ original seconds hand. Signed Zodiac

Sea Wolf below the 12 and Automatic above the 6. It is further signed Swiss T <25IDC at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal with inner silver ring is in excellent condition and was with the watch when purchased. The case is heavy gauge, solid stainless steel and in excellent condition. The rotating bi-directional bezel is original and in great to excellent condition – just a couple very small marks as you can see but much, much better than average for this model. The original stainless winding crown is signed with the Zodiac logo and features a stem sleeve that was doubled in length, hence providing a much longer receptacle for the crown. It too is in excellent condition.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a vacuum seal (compressor type) snap down design made to fit deeper into the case to increase air and water tightness. It is signed Zodiac Sea Wolf – 20ATM - Especially Water Tested and is in excellent order. Looking inside I find a clean rotor automatic mechanism that is signed Zodiac Ltd. Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels. The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and stamped ZODIAC LTD. LE LOCLE SWISS - ACIER INOXYDABLE 722 – 916.
This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 18mm black Breitling-style buffalo grain chrono sport strap with stainless steel buckle and I am also including the original stainless expansion band that came with the watch when I got it – not original but in excellent shape, a good size and with curved ends. So that’s the scoop on this extra nice vintage Sea Wolf Datographic – while they come up on eBay fairly often this one is in truly STELLAR original shape and condition is everything when it comes to models like this.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s 14kt Solid Yellow Gold, sculpted case model with a 13 Genuine Diamonds on the dial. This triple-signed model dates to ca 1950 and features a Longines 9L caliber mechanism, one of the firm’s best.
The case measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 21mm in width (22mm with winding crown). This works out to be a bit over 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black enamel finished dial is in MINT condition – professionally restored and looking fantastic. Signed LONGINES below the 12 marker and SWISS at the base of the dial, hidden by the crystal and bezel.
The curved solid glass crystal is in excellent shape with no flaws. The case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Yellow Gold and it is in excellent to mint condition, complete with sculpted (wave) sides and not a flaw anywhere. The unmarked gold finished winding crown (presumably a later replacement) is in excellent shape operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the 14k solid gold back lid is in excellent to mint condition and stamped K&L 14K at one end. Inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 9L, LXW with serial number 8,022,700 – dating the watch to ca 1950. I have seen many watches in my years collecting, some big, some small, some conservatively designed, some a bit adventurous. I have not, however, ever seen a watch like this before – a ladies late 1940s (ca 1948 to 1952) “flip up” (nurses’ style) broach watch in a distinctively military design. It was made by the Kelbert Watch Company, a New York City based firm established in the early 1900s that had its factory in Switzerland.
This triple-signed 14k gold electroplated watch measures 2-3/4 inches in total length (watch head, suede band and winged ends). The watch itself measures just under 1-1/4 inches along each side with the dial measuring approximately ¾ of an inch across. Powering this watch is its original 15 jewel, manual wind Kelbert mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my talented watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original gold enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, untouched since it left the factory in Switzerland. Features include black enamel Roman numerals, 60 minute outer chapter and original blue steel hands. Signed Kelbert below the XII and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The crystal is in excellent condition. The faceted, three-sided case is 14 karat gold electroplated and in excellent shape, no wear whatsoever. The original winding crown (at the VI) is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly. Turning the watch over I see that the back of the case is excellent as well, including the lugs. Inside I find a clean, fully serviced mechanism signed Kelbert Watch Co., Swiss – Fifteen 15 Jewels, QXO . The inside case lid is signed Plaque Org. Garanti 10 Ans – Kelbert Watch Co., Swiss.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in Le Sentier, Valee de Joux in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre. After 175 years it is still one of the most important manufacturers of ebauches (raw movements), and has supplied mechanisms to almost all the notable producers of luxury watches, including Vacheron & Constantin and Patek Philippe.
Merging with the Alsatian watch factory of Edmond Jaeger in 1925, the name Jaeger LeCoultre soon appeared on wristwatch dials. They are a watch collector’s watch and rank as investment-grade timepieces.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s JLC timepiece from the firm, a “Master Mariner” automatic wind model that dates to ca 1964 – 1965 (as per serial number) and is understated elegance personified. Before I say anything more I want to assure you that this watch is in excellent original condition and has been well cared for over the years…the dial untouched since it left the factory.
Quadruple-signed for Jaeger-LeCoultre, it measures 38mm end to end and 35mm in width (37.5mm with original Jaeger-LeCoultre signed crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the winding crown. Its original and higher end LeCoultre mechanism has been fully serviced prior to auction,

ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial has a fine woven (textured) finish to it and is in mint condition – untouched since it left the factory. I have shown it outside the case to let you see just how nice it is. Features include applied hour markers and numerals, original hour and minute hands and a ‘sweep’ silver seconds hand. Signed with the JL logo for Jaeger Le Coultre below the 12 and AUTOMATIC Master Mariner above the 6. It is further signed T – SWISS – T at the base of the dial, the “T” standing for the tritium that is set within the hands.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The LeCoultre-signed one-piece case (with removable bezel ring) is solid stainless steel and in excellent plus condition – I have not even needed to polish it – truly superb. The original steel winding crown is signed JL for the company and is in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape, free of any wear or engravings. Along with being marked “Stainless Steel” it is signed “Remove Bezel to Use All Proof 1260 Wrench.” As I took the watch apart for photos before having it serviced I can tell you that the spotless mechanism features the JL logo as a cutout on the rotor and it is signed LeCoultre Co. – Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss – VXN, [Caliber] K880. The serial number is 1,590,418 – dating it to approximately 1964-1965. The inside case lid is stamped Cased and Timed in USA by Le Coultre – Star Watch Case Co. – Stainless Steel, 2740-880/881 with case number below.
This watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a 19mm black deBeer hand crafted lizard grain band with matching chrome steel buckle so you’re all set. Much like IWC or Omega, wearing a JLC watch identifies you as someone who appreciates fine Swiss watches but doesn’t go for the biggest, trendiest name on the market – history, quality and design always trumps what’s merely fashionable.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start producing watches until 1894. Its first chosen name was the “Columbian Watch Co.” but this had already been copyrighted by the Waterbury Company. The name Hamilton was then chosen - a tribute to Lancaster’s founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the town’s growth.
By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant (convertible) watch and, following the USA’s entry into WWI, a small line of military style wire lug trench watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Hamilton timepiece, a 14kt Solid Yellow Gold “Courtney” Masterpiece model that dates to 1967. This watch is in excellent condition both inside and out and its larger dial really makes it stand out on the wrist.
Triple-signed for Hamilton, it measures 39mm end to end and 28mm in width (30.5mm with crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” long by 1-1/8” wide, not counting the winding crown. Powered this watch is its original 22 jewel, 770 grade manual wind movement – arguably the finest caliber made by Hamilton if not the finest mechanism made by any American watch firm. It has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, butler finish enamel dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status by the best in the country. This dial boasts 18kt Solid Gold applied numbers and hour markers, original gold metal Dauphine style hand and a separate seconds dial with crosshair design and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON MASTERPIECE below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition with no flaws. The case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely o wear and nicely faceted lugs. The matching gold-finished winding crown is in excellent order as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is also 14k solid gold and in excellent to mint condition, very sharp and crisp. This is a presentation piece and it is dated 1967 for 30 years of service with New Jersey Bell. Along the edge of the case it is stamped Hamilton 14K Gold. Peeking inside I find a clean and high grade mechanism, arguably the best manual wind wristwatch mechanism ever to be made in the United States. It is signed Hamilton U.S.A. – [Grade] 770, 22 Jewels, Adj.. The inside of the case back is signed HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER, PA. – 14K. GOLD with case number below. The “J” with arrow insignia is for the Jonell Watch Case Company.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new and high quality black 18mm deBeer lizard grain strap with gold finished buckle for a superb combination, ready to be worn and enjoyed. Folks, I really think you are going to love this one, it is perhaps so good looking you
