Founded in the city of Lucerne in 1832, the Gubelin Watch Company was started by Maurice Breitschmid. Founded in the city of Lucerne in 1832, the Gubelin Watch Company was started by Maurice Breitschmid. In 1854 Jacques Edouard Gubelin married Mr. Breitschmid’s daughter, and he (who had already become associated with the business) and his new bride opened a shop in the heart of Lucerne (Luzern). In 1904 they acquired a building called the “Palais Anglais” at No. 1 Schweizerhofquai, Lucerne that is still their Swiss headquarters today. In 1919 Edouard Gubelin, son of Jacques Edouard, succeeded his father as head of the company , opening a sales outlet in New York City that included watches but also jewelry.
Gubelin was not a watchmaker in the traditional sense but, like its rivals Buchererer and Turler, commissioned Swiss watch firms to produce its mechanisms. These firms included Vacheron & Constantin, Valjoux and even Patek Philippe. Today, they are still a premier Swiss brand, with numerous locations in Switzerland and also stores in Italy and France.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following triple-signed Gubelin timepiece, a men’s ca 1925 wire lug example set in a sterling silver, hinged back case. This early Art Deco period watch comes from my personal collection and I have only worn it on special occasions – most recently having it fully serviced at the beginning this year.
Signed for Gubelin on the dial, case and mechanism, it measures 37.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 24mm in width (26mm with crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1 inch in width, excluding the winding crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 16 jewel, 3 Adj. manual wind mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The original sterling silver dial has been professionally restored to an antique (aged radium) appearance and is excellent condition – faithfully bringing it back to its correct look. It features a black 60 minute enameled outer track, brown finished numbers (to look like aged luminous but perfectly safe) and original blue steel skeleton style hands with fill. Signed E. GUBELIN LUCERNE below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is, I believe, the original and in very fine, clear shape – a couple scratches if looked at closely but nothing that is distracting. The two-piece, hinged back case is .935 grade sterling silver and features solid (fixed) wire lugs. It is in excellent shape and the wire lugs are very secure. There is one tiny Swiss sterling hallmark just below the crown, on the case side. The original winding crown, domed and silver in color, is in excellent condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order and tastefully engraved “G. Nelson 1925”- suggesting it was purchased close to this time (ca 1924 – 1925). Looking inside (hinged case is secure) I find a clean and higher-grade mechanism that is signed GUBELIN SWISS – 16 SIXTEEN JEWELS, 3 THREE ADJ.. The inside of the case back is stamped L.F. with the Berne “Bear” Swiss hallmark and below this

it is signed 0.935 – GUBELIN, SWITZERLAND with case number below.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 18mm dark brown alligator (grain) calf leather strap with matching chrome silver buckle. This band is especially made for wire lug watches and has fold-over ends that are secured by sturdy metal bars. Folks, I don’t believe I’ve sold a Gubelin watch on eBay before – they are hard to come by and seem to attract a loyal following of collectors (having tried to win a few myself but failing to get the high bid!). This one is a wonderful example of the Art Nouveau - early Art Deco period and should be a solid investment over time.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and

Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am very pleased to offer for sale this beautifully engraved example of a ladies “Octagon” form Guild series watch, made by Gruen ca 1925 and complete with a sterling silver, two-tone enamel finished dial. This watch is quite striking in person, its 14kt Green Gold Filled case setting itself apart from white or yellow gold timepieces.
This triple-signed Art Deco gem measures 28mm lug tip to lug tip and 25.5mm in width (28.5mm with original beaded edge sapphire crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/8” by 1” and it is attached to a 12mm wide (1/2”) Swiss made black leather strap especially designed for wire lug watches such as this. Powering this watch is its original and higher grade 15 Jewel, 3 Adjustment Gruen Guild 885 grade mechanism, fully serviced prior to auction to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The sterling silver (base), two-tone silver enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct original status. Features include a 60 minute outer track border, original blue steel Spade-style hands and black enamel painted Art Deco numerals that “angle” around the dial. Signed GRUEN below the 12 and SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws, removed in some photos to reduce glare. The 14 Karat Green Gold Filled three-piece case is a handsome “Octagon” form that is in excellent condition – complete with a finely engraved bezel and case sides. The original cabochon sapphire green gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape, complete with a tasteful Art Deco monogram (very artistic, in fact) that reads “GAB.” Peeking inside I find a clean and higher-grade Fifteen Jewel manual wind mechanism that is signed GRUEN GUILD, FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS, THREE 3 ADJ., SWITZERLAND. The caliber number of 885 is found below the balance wheel. The inside of the case lid is stamped GRUEN - ULTRA QUALITY – 14K GOLD FILLED – WADSWORTH with case number and movement caliber number (885) below.
This cleaned, oiled, and regulated beauty winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 12mm matte black Suisse leather strap - especially designed for solid wire lug watches such as this. This Art Deco Gruen is ready to be strapped on and shown off to ALL you meet...and won't they be jealous of your good taste and obvious superior intelligence! Give my dog Carl a reason to howl and buy this watch from me, he really likes this watch too, woof woof!

Since 1998,

One of my favorite "not a big name" watch firms is the Enicar Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm that was founded in the city of Longeau, in 1914, by Ariste Racine. Indeed, it was the “Racine” family name (spelled backwards) that decided the name of this respected brand. Enicar produced watches under a number of names, including Racine, Alprosa and Mars. Best known for its “Seapearl” and “Sherpa” dive watches, they were one of the many Swiss firms that didn’t survive the quartz revolution of the 1970s. Ironically, it was Gerd-Rüdiger Lang (founder of Chronoswiss) who bought up much of Enicar’s old mechanism inventory to begin his new company.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, a 25 jewel rotor automatic Double Date that dates to ca 1969. This watch is in great ORIGINAL condition – only the leather strap is new, the rest entirely untouched, not even polished by me. It reminds me of an Omega Constellation watch of the same period, that being 24 jewels and chronometer grade.
Quad-signed for Enicar (dial, case, crown and

mechanism), it measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37.5mm with signed crown). In inches this works out to be 1-5/8” in length by 1-3/8” in width, not including the Enicar “planet” crown. It is powered by its original Enicar-signed gold finished rotor automatic mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The original silver dial is finely brushed in a satin enamel finish and is in excellent condition. It features a 60 second outer chapter, applied silver and black hour markers, original silver steel and black lacquer hands, a quick-set double date window at the 3 position and a ‘sweep’ silver steel center seconds hand. Signed ENICAR automatic uniquely next to the 9 marker and 25 JEWELS INCABLOC above the 6 marker. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic armored crystal is in excellent shape. The two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in great to excellent shape- unpolished by me and with maybe a few small scratches. The original stainless crown is stamped with the “Planet” Enicar logo (like on the dial) and is in excellent shape, operating smoothly. To set the date(s) you pull the crown out to the FIRST position and rotate the crown clockwise for the numerical date and counter-clockwise for the day of the week. You will also note that the day of the calendar can be displayed in Chinese characters, as shown in my close up photo – your choice!
Turning the watch over I note that the screw-down stainless back lid is signed with the Enicar trademark (ocean, shark and ringed planet) and is in very good, solid condition – I have not polished it. It is further signed “Enicar – Water Resistant – Automatic – Stainless Steel – Incabloc – Swiss.” Inside is a clean and serviced twenty five jewel rotor automatic (self-winding) mechanism that is signed ENICAR WATCH CO. – 25 JEWELS, SWISS MADE on the rotor. The caliber number is AR 2167 which I believe is based on the ETA 2780 or similar. The inside of the case back is stamped ENICAR WATCH CO., SWISS [MODEL] 2367
This timepiece has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to insure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new matte finish 19mm lizard (grain) calf leather Suisse strap with stainless steel buckle. All in all a watch that is every bit as nice quality as a comparable Longines or Girard-Perregaux but less often seen. I think you’ll like this one.`

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. I am pleased to offer for sale the following heavy duty, larger size timepiece from the Roberto Bianci Watch Co. of Switzerland, a men’s Professional Commando model in excellent, unused condition. This precision Swiss watch (ETA G10) is a substantial piece, weighing 7.7 ounces with solid link bracelet, and both the case and bracelet are solid stainless steel, with PVD coating. A Ref. 1876M model, it comes with its original signed outer box, signed lacquer finish wood inner box with cushion, chrono instructions and warranty card (unsigned). What I especially like about this model is its uniquely designed brushed finish stainless back lid and octagonal shaped pushers and crown.
Fully-signed, it measures a large 50mm lug tip to lug tip, 14mm thick and 46mm in width (50mm with original screw-down crown). This works out to be 2 inches long by 1-7/8 wide, not including the crown and pushers. It is powered by its original Swiss quartz ETA G10 chronograph mechanism that keeps accurate time and all chronograph functions operate as they should.
The black enamel finished dial is in mint condition and features a Tachymeter Outer Track, silver hour markers, luminous Skeleton hands, red FLYBACK hand with luminous insert and a quick-change date window at the 4 position. Signed BIANCI at the top of the dial and Professional Commando next to the date window. It is further signed “Water Resistant 330 Feet” (100M) at the 8 marker.
There are three registered on this dial, each with its own function. The top left is a 30 minute timer, the top right is a 12 hour timer and the bottom register is a constant 60 second timer.
The hardened mineral glass crystal is without any flaws. The case is solid stainless steel (316L grade) with a

PVD finish applied. It features a unidirectional “ratchet” bezel with white and red enameling and it clicks nice and tight. The screw-down original crown is a unique octagonal shape that makes this watch stand out and this applies to the chrono pushers as well. logo and is in excellent shape, as are the chrono pushers.
Turning the watch over I see that it has a screw-tight, stainless steel back lid in flawless condition – almost like a manhole cover! It is stamped ALL STAINLESS STEEL – 10ATM WATER RESISTANT – SWISS MOVT. – 1876M – ROBERTO BIANCI.
Inside is a precision Swiss ETA G10 quartz mechanism, a workhorse of the Swiss watch industry as of late. It works exactly as it should and it comes with instructions for its use and setting. The original bracelet strap is very high quality and has solid links (not rolled steel) and a high quality deployant clasp as well. It will fit a wrist up to 8-3/4 inches around and can be sized smaller by removing links
This watch comes complete with both boxes, unsigned warranty card, instructions and will be sent with full insurance and tracking – a heavy duty watch for a no reserve price – thanks for taking a look!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the

following vintage Omega timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid Yellow Gold example set with a genuine diamond 12 marker that dates to 1972. This dress model, black dial watch is in excellent condition, quadruple-signed for Omega on the dial, crown, case and mechanism.
Its case measures 27mm lug tip to lug tip and 21.5mm in width (23.5mm with original Omega-signed crown). This equates to just shy of 1-1/8 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not counting the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black enamel, matte finished dial is in excellent condition – professionally restored to its correct status. It features a rhodium set Genuine Diamond at the 12 position, gold metal Baton-style hands and is signed “OMEGA” with trademark logo below the diamond and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case, in excellent PLUS condition, crafted of 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and complete with curl end lugs. The matching and original yellow gold winding crown is in excellent shape, signed with the Omega symbol and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition like the rest of the watch with no wear or inscriptions. It is stamped 14K GOLD at the edge. Peeking inside I find a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind movement that is stamped Omega Watch Co. - Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 485, Swiss. The serial number of #34,108,573 dates this watch to 1972 as per published production records. The inside case lid is stamped OMEGA WATCH CO. –14K GOLD B&A – AA5872 with case number below.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new (aftermarket) 10mm crocodile grain leather strap with gold finished buckle. This band will fit a wrist 5-1/4 inches to 6-5/8 inches. All in all a very nice diamond dial watch from one of Switzerland’s very best watch firms and my personal favorite – you can never go wrong with an Omega.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I have always enjoyed collecting watches from Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded in the 1870s by the Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s timepiece from the Bulova firm, an 100% original, hermetic case model that dates to 1969 and has been worn probably a dozen times in its entire existence. This watch is 18kt Solid Yellow Gold and comes complete with its original Bulova-signed genuine alligator band with 18kt solid yellow gold buckle, as shown. Having collected this brand for over 25 years now I can tell you that they didn’t make many 18kt watches – in fact, I can’t recall having an 18kt men’s Bulova before.
Triple-signed for Bulova, it measures 37mm end to end and 32mm in width (34mm with original, domed winding crown). In inches this works out to be just shy of 1-1/2” long by 1-1/4” wide, not including the original and correctly unmarked winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, manual wind Bulova Swiss mechanism that has been fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original champagne gold, satin enamel finished dial is in excellent (without flaw) condition – guaranteed untouched since

it left the factory 43 years ago. It features a black 60 minute outer track, gold and black lacquer hour markers, original gold and black lacquer hands and a recessed sub-seconds dial with engine-turned center and ‘sweep’ original gold seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and - SWISS - at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The one-piece case is 18 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent condition, complete with nice “faceted” lugs. Being a hermetic design, you access the mechanism by removing the crystal and then the stem and crown (the stem is a male/female design that can unhitch). The original yellow gold winding crown is correctly unmarked for this era and model and in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back of the case is 18kt solid gold and in pristine shape. It is signed Bulova – 18KT Gold – Shock Resistant – Anti-magnetic – Waterproof – M9. The “M9” is Bulova’s date code for 1969. Inside is a clean Seventeen Jewel, manual wind movement signed Bulova Watch Co., [Grade] 11BL - 17 Seventeen Jewels – Swiss – BXW, M9 (my watchmaker David too the mechanism photo for me).
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on its original 18mm dark brown genuine alligator strap stamped “BULOVA” and complete with its original 18k solid gold Bulova signed buckle. I will also include a new 18mm black deBeer hand crafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap if you decide to preserve the original band instead of wearing it. All in all an ALL original and excellent condition Retro Modern timepiece from one of my favorite watch firms – being 18K doesn’t hurt either!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of “wrist” watches were available, but for women only! Yes, Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing its first (non-military style) men’s watches in November 1922, a good 10 years after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. Well, they quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.
I am very happy to offer for sale the following vintage Hamilton timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold model that features a total of Twenty (20) Genuine Diamonds of high clarity. Dating to the late 1950s, this example would be considered a “Cocktail” or “Evening” watch – equally a piece of fine jewelry as it is a reliable timekeeper.
Its quadruple stepped, Art Deco inspired case measures 34mm end to end and 14.5mm in width (16mm with crown). This converts to 1-3/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the crown, and it is fitted on black cord bracelet strap that makes the overall length 7-1/2 inches, easily adjusted shorter (or longer) by me before mailing to the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and high grade 757 caliber, 22 jewel USA manual wind movement, the BEST that Hamilton offered. It has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in mint condition, professionally restored to its correct status. It features applied 18kt Solid White Gold numerals and hour markers and blue steel leaf-style hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12.
The curved crystal is in excellent shape and clear. The case is also in excellent condition, a striking Art Deco beauty that is quadruple stepped down to the lug tips – what a perfect design. It is crafted of 14 Karat Solid White Gold and featuring 20 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that are securely set. The matching white gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in

excellent shape, stamped 14K and without any wear or engravings. Peeking inside I find a clean barrel-form movement with fancy Geneva striping, signed Hamilton USA – 22 Jewels, Adj., [Grade] 757. The inside of the case back is stamped with serial number 010621.
This lovely timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new old stock black cord bracelet with matching color fittings that measures a total length of 7-1/2 inches. If you need the band shortened (or lengthened) just let me know and I’ll have it custom sized before I mail it, no charge. pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s Five Star Admiral (Model 2955) automatic wind double date model that dates to ca 1969-1970. When first introduced in 1959, the “Admiral” line were marketed as being extra thin and hermetically-sealed, making them better protected than most watches against common watch hazards. This watch is solid stainless steel and retailed for $150 when new, or about $900 in today’s dollars.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 36mm in width (37mm with partially recessed winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, self-winding Longines 508 caliber mechanism that has been fully serviced by valued watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver brushed enamel finish dial is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the Longines factory. It features a 60 second outer track, raised silver hour markers, steel Baton-style hands, semi-quickset DOUBLE date windows at the 3 position (note the red numerical date) and ‘sweep’ silver steel center seconds hand. Signed LONGINES Automatic below the 12 and ADMIRAL with five raised stars above the 6. It is further signed T SWISS T at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The one-piece case (with removable bezel ring) is All Stainless Steel and in excellent to MINT shape as well – honestly nicer than the photos given its hard to avoid shadows and glare and with faceted, angled lugs. The unmarked domed steel crown (possibly original for the era) is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
As I noted above, this is a semi-quickset double date watch. To set the date you start with the day of the week – a shortcut being moving the hands past midnight and then back to 9pm to advance one week day…Tuesday to Wednesday, etc. Once you are at the correct day you can then QUICKSET the numerical (RED) day of the month by pressing the winding crown IN for the number of days you want to advance. Omega had a system like this as well.
Turning the watch over, I see that the back of the case is in excellent condition, retaining its brushed satin finish that was applied at the case factory. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
Here is a truly fine example of a men’s ca 1940 Gruen REGAL model Tank form watch, just look at that those fancy, extended lugs! This is a Precision series “Veri-Thin” model with a 430 caliber mechanism (cousin to the 440 caliber Curvex) and it is constructed of 14kt Solid Yellow Gold.
Triple-signed, it measures 36mm end to end and 22mm in

width (24mm with rose gold crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-3/8” by 7/8” wide, not counting the crown. It has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The two-tone, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct status. It features a 60 minute outer track, raised gold Breguet style numerals, original gold metal Leaf-style hands and a separate seconds dial with recessed center, 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ original gold seconds hand. Signed GRUEN VERI-THIN below the 12 marker and PRECISION above the seconds dial.
The curved original glass crystal is in great condition (a couple tiny scratches) and clear. The case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition, featuring slightly projecting sides and fancy U-shaped lugs. The matching yellow gold winding crown is in excellent shape as well, correctly unmarked for 1940 and operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the 14k solid yellow gold back lid is in excellent condition and without any wear or engravings. It is stamped K&O 14K. Peeking inside I discover a classic 430 Caliber Seventeen Jewel movement, signed Gruen Watch Co., PRECISION, Seventeen 17 Jewels - GXC, [Caliber] 430 – VERI-THIN, PATENTED. This is near identical in design to the 440 Curvex mechanism and many parts are interchangeable. The inside of the case lid is signed Cased & Timed in U.S.A. by Gruen Watch Co., 14K GOLD, K&O with case number below. The “K&O” stands for the Benjamin Katz and William B. Ogush (Katz & Ogush), a provider of many solid gold Gruen cases during the 1940s. Shortly after this watch was made Mr. Katz would take over from Fred Gruen and become the president of the Gruen Watch Company, leaving his partner William to run the company on his own (his stamp was WBO for William B. Ogush Watch Case Co.).
This cleaned, oiled and regulated Gruen “Regal” watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 14mm black alligator calf Swiss men’s length strap with matching buckle for a complete package – ready to be worn and enjoyed.
One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first (if not ‘the’ first) watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, a ca 1969 all original Museum model complete with its original signed strap, signed buckle and guarantee booklet. Movado introduced its “Museum” model in 1959 and it quickly became a design world classic…the only watch in the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). What makes this Museum model different is that it has a rare DATE window at the 12 position instead of a silver (or gold) round marker, something I have never seen before in over 25 years of collecting.
This watch is six times<?b> signed for Movado – on the dial, case, winding crown, mechanism, band and buckle. It has been worn perhaps 6 to 8 times since first sold – a completely original time capsule.
Its solid stainless steel case measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.5mm in width (36mm with Movado-signed crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the Movado crown. It is powered by its original and higher-grade 17 jewel, 2562C caliber manual wind Movado mechanism that has been fully serviced

by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finish dial is in pristine condition – guaranteed to be untouched since it left the factory over 40 years ago. It features original silver steel Baton-style hands and a semi-quickset date window at the 12 position. Signed MOVADO SWISS at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The Movado-signed case is Solid Stainless Steel and in excellent (as new) condition as well, a three-piece example with snap down bezel and back lid. The original stainless steel winding crown is signed with the Movado trademark and in perfect shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that vacuum seal, snap down stainless back lid is in excellent (as new) condition, complete with its original satin/brushed finish as it left the factory with. Taking a look inside I find a fully serviced mechanism that is signed Movado Factories, Swiss – 17 Seventeen Jewels with caliber number 2562 C stamped below the balance wheel. The inside case back is signed with the “M” company logo and STAINLESS STEEL, SWISS MADE – 704 – 028, 275.
This timepiece has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on its original 18mm black Movado-signed alligator grain leather strap with stainless steel Movado buckle stamped “Swiss Made - Mod. Dep. Int’l.” I will also be including a new 18mm deBeer Paris black lizard grain handmade strap with matching steel buckle so you can use it instead and preserve the original. This is a watch that comes around once in a blue moon – a unique Museum model that is also original as they come and in close to NEW OLD STOCK condition – what a great investment piece.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Aaron Dennison and E. Howard, the highly regarded Waltham Watch Company of Waltham, Mass. is one of the grandfathers of U.S. horology, in business from 1850 to 1959 making high quality pocket watches, clocks and wristwatches known the world over. The company adopted the American Waltham name in 1859, having already used such names as Warren, Tracy, Appleton and Boston.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage ladies model from the firm, an early Art Deco, finely engraved wristwatch that dates to 1927. This hinged case timepiece is crafted of 14kt White Gold Fill and is in excellent condition both inside and out, as fine today as it was when it left the factory 85 years ago.
Triple-signed for Waltham, it measures32mm lug tip to lug tip and 27mm in width (30.5mm with original domed crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/4” long by just shy of 1-1/8” wide, not including the winding crown and it is fitted on a fold-over (for wire lugs) black leather strap that will fit wrists 5-1/4 to 6-3/4 inches in size. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original, finely engraved Waltham mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The enamel finished silver dial has been professionally refinished and is in excellent condition. It featuresa 60 minute outer track border, black enamel painted numerals, original fancy blue steel hands and a recessed sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and ‘sweep’ blue steel seconds hand. Signed WALTHAM below the 12.
The new old stock crystal is in excellent condition. The three-piece, Octagon-form case is 14 Karat White Gold Filled and in excellent to MINT condition, truly without flaw and finely engraved with geometric designs on all sides of the bezel. You will note that this is a hinged case – very secure and closing shut securely. The original white gold finished domed winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid features a fine floral engraved border and is free of any wear or engravings. Peeking inside I find a clean, manual wind Seven 7 jewel mechanism that is signed Waltham – Seven Jewels, U.S.A., – 26,118,824. The serial number dates this watch to ca 1927 as per company production records.
The inside of the

case is stamped 6/0 W which indicates the mechanism size (6/0) and the watch company this case was made for, Waltham (W). You will also see cases from the mid to late 1920s stamped with “E” for Elgin, “I” for Illinois and “H” for Hamilton – sometimes they’ll be stamped with two letters indicating the case was meant to be used by two companies, typically this was Elgin and Illinois (E/I). Below this it is stamped Keystone Watch Case Co., J. Boss – 14k Gold Filled where “J. Boss” stands for James Boss, the creator of the gold filled case and onetime employee of the Keystone Company.
This watch has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new 10mm matte black Suisse calf leather strap with matching color buckle that is especially made for solid (wire) lug watches such as this.
