Directors Memo Hello HOG Members!
Well, looks like Mother Nature has been rather fickle over the past few weeks, running on the cool and wet side most of the time, rather than showing off the b e a u t i f u l A r i z o n a s u n s h i n e a n d encouraging everyone to get out and ride! BUT…I hope you’re all finding opportunities to get on your bikes and enjoy this beautiful country we live in!! Our Chapter calendar is being updated and will be showing some fun rides and activities coming up, and I’m really looking forward to seeing you folks on the road! My hat is off to all of you who were able to make to the Veteran’s Appreciation Day at Grand Canyon Harley-Davidson in Mayer on May 25th. What an incredible turn out we had for this event, and we were able to help ensure that all the Vets who were there were recognized and appreciated for all the sacrifices made on behalf of this great country. …continued on Pg 9

Run for the Wall submitted by Steve Heck
Wednesday May 15th Hog members Mike Ammons and I along with several friends went to Ashfork where we lined up on the County Line Rd overpass to salute the Run For The Wall Riders on their way to Washington DC. This is the most amazing sight of motorcycles that I’ve ever seen. The first group of about 150 riders passed by at 5pm, around 6pm the second group passed us with 400 riders. The video recording lasted for 3 minutes. As we stood on the bridge waving American Flags, the riders would salute, cars and trucks would honk their horns. The RFTW Ambassadors stopped and gave each and everyone a pin. I wish more people would have come out to Honor the riders. There’s no better feeling than to support all these vets on their way to Rolling Thunder at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC. Thanks Mike for being our Road Captain.

All right, riding season is in full swing and bikers are everywhere! Let's keep our eyes open. With riding season is upon us, so is the vacation season. Travelers are here to see our beautiful state of Arizona. As they drive around they are not looking for us. They are looking for the hotel, motel or attraction they have come to see. With that extra traffic the locals are also distracted looking for ways around the increase traffic. Rushing to get to work or go to dinner before the visitors fill up the restaurants. High school kids out of school for the summer driving around with their phones in their hands and their eyes on their phones texting. It's war out there! Bottom line let's keep our eyes wide open for the danger that lurks all around us. On a lighter note, last month Todd Carter and I went to Phoenix to partake in the Advance Riders Course. Wow was that a eye opener, speaking of keeping our eyes open, pardon the pun. Todd and I really enjoyed the class and both of us learned a lot. We highly recommend taking this class at the first opportunity you get. I also want to throw out a HUGE thank you to Christina Anderson for her incredible work in getting the entire event planned and ready to go. You always put in such hard work for these (and ALL) events, and you should know how much you’re appreciated! Folks, I’m really looking forward to getting some wind therapy with you over the coming weeks and months as the prime riding season really kicks in! We have such beautiful country to ride. No matter which way you decide to go, there’s always beautiful scenery and interesting things to see and do! I really hope everyone makes the time to get out on your bikes and ride, whether you ride with the chapter or with anyone else……just get out and RIDE! Finally, a small reminder to everyone that we do still have a few memorial patches left to commemorate David Owens. If anyone wants one, please just let me know. They are $10 each. As always…thank you all for the ongoing support! Please have fun, and please ride safe out there!! ~Mike McKibben
