Does Hofstra have an Honors College?Yes! Students invited to the Honors College complete additional assignments and courses while working closely with professors. Students in all majors are considered for the Honors College and are notified of admission several weeks after regular admission to Hofstra.

Are there also graduate programs?Hofstra University offers more than 150 distinguished graduate degree offerings and more than 100 dual degree (undergraduate/graduate) options in the Frank G. The Northeast region of the United States covers a relatively small area but is densely populated, with more than 53.5 million people. The state of New York is home to the country’s largest and most well-known city—New York City, population 8 million. New York City is an international center for commerce, entertainment, publishing, fashion, and research. Hofstra’s shuttle buses provide free transportation to local train stations, with easy access to New York City.

Hofstra’s campus is a nationally accredited arboretum and museum, with park-like grounds and ivy covered buildings. The climate is affected by all four seasonal changes, with moderate winters. In the spring, Hofstra celebrates its Dutch heritage with thousands of tulips in the campus gardens. The campus also features a bird sanctuary, an observatory, and three art galleries. Amenities on campus include an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, fitness center, grocery, and full-service bank. Many students live on campus in our 37 residence halls.

Hofstra University offers academic, merit-based scholarships to international students. To be considered, you must submit SAT or ACT scores with your application. All students are automatically considered for scholarships—you do not need to apply.

There is no minimum score for consideration, although the average Hofstra student has an SAT score of 1171 (out of 1600) or an ACT composite score of 25.

With an average class size of 21 students and a student to faculty ratio of only 14 to 1, Hofstra students are well supported both in and out of the classroom. Every Hofstra student has dedicated academic and faculty advisers, in addition to access to tutors and many other support services. The Office of Orientation and Office of Student Leadership and Activities, as well as Hofstra’s Saltzman Community Services Center, are also available for all students. Campus Security officers ensure safety at Hofstra, but can provide students with easy directions to their classes as well. The Career Center offers dozens of programs designed to help students develop interviewing skills, focus their job search, and obtain competitive internships. Hofstra students are regularly awarded prestigious grants, fellowships, and assistantships.

Hofstra University’s Office of Multicultural and International Student Programs concentrates on all aspects of international student life. The staff assists students with immigration counseling and travel requirements, and can also help with applications for optional practical training, curricular training, economic work necessity, program extensions, international student insurance, and visa renewals.
