Why are you currently applying to Hofstra?
After completion of my course, I would like to play my role in rediscovering a better understanding of engineering disciplinesand human interaction with the physical laws of nature in order to improve the engineering processes by involving myself intoresearch and development of engineering and related technologies. I understand that the competition and versatility of theengineering fields are challenging and demanding, towards which I would like to contribute and devote my perennial efforts, with the hope these efforts would lead to an improvement to a much wider array of development that would result in concurrenttechnological advancement throughout governments, businesses, and industries.

Personal Statement
If I could invent something, what would it be and why: Although it may seem very peculiar to many people, a truth and falsedetecting device would create a turning point in scientific convention and mark a milestone in history if its successful version isincorporated. I know it looks as highly impractical and fictitious device but what is the harm in assuming that if I am able toinvent something, it would be this. Even so, we might still have chance because we know our brain controls what we speak andin brain and brain alone lies the information whether the person is speaking the truth or not. We also know that when we speak, impulses are generated from brain to tongue. Somehow, keeping in mind the laws of physics, we can find out whether thespeech is truth or not by studying the nature of impulse generated and then decoding the information in the brain through it. Iam not saying this is possible but what is the harm in trying. The revolution this device would bring about is inconceivable. Theprimary reason as to why I would invent this is that there many evil and bad things going on in the world mainly because badpeople use falsehood as veil to their evil activities which in turn affect the normal people. The disruption of peace we seenowadays is due the spread of falsehood, betrayal and hypocrisy. It is due to lies that we need to have judiciary system, longtrials, hearings, and even then we are not sure whether we have got the right culprit or not. The reason why crime exists isfalsehood because if people did not lie, the guilty would not escape and would be caught eventually. Let me give you anexample. Two months ago I had my 500 rupee got stolen from my wallet. I could conclude at that time a set of people whom Iknow could do this, that is, some of my class fellows but when I asked each one of them, they all replied negatively. Of coursewho would admit that he/she did it? Now because the thief had gotten away with it, he gained encouragement to do it again. What happened next was pretty much obvious to me. A 100 rupee note was missing from my wallet. Had that criminal beencaught the first time he stole money, not only he could have done it again but other people would have also learned a lessonfrom it. Generalizing this concept of crime-free environment resulting from expulsion of falsehood from the society, we will beable to maintain mutual peace around the globe, between people, between states, between groups etc. There will be mutualcooperation; no rights of any other fellow human being would be suppressed and a carefree and secure environment will becreated. Justice will prevail. Honesty will cherish and falsehood will perish. Moreover, these machines will also incur monetarybenefit to the state. This is because these machines would lead to reduce the burden on judiciary; cases in courts would besolved quickly and promptly without much staff. Due to this funds previously allocated to the judiciary could now be reallocatedto a more productive sector such as power generation, mining, manufacturing. Furthermore, the political instability in Pakistanand in other countries will also reduce because the politics in Pakistan is mainly composed of falsehood. Every other personcomes blames the opposition and then fight starts. Lie detecting device would detect lies and would point out who is right andwho is wrong. Then we would be able to easily choose our best leader. This would again lead to the betterment of the country, and to be more general, betterment of the world. In the end I would like to say, that although highly impractical, but if I couldinvent something I would invent this as we can imagine a paradise if it existed. The image we get of such world is ofharmonious land with people respecting each other, caring for each other, living peacefully with unity. Peace is what will resultand peace, in my opinion, is the most important thing in modern age.
