Road Map to better Risk Management
“Risk Management in FM Profession” is the theme
selected for Excellence in Facility Management Award
(EFMA) 2018. The prime objectives are to promote,
share experiences / best practices in controlling risk.
Risk is the possibility of meeting danger or suffering harm, losing something of values.
Values such as social status, corporate image or financial wealth can be lost when
taking risk resulting from a given action or inaction, foreseen or unforeseen. Risk can
be regarded as the intentional interaction with uncertainty.
“Failure to plan” is “planning to failure”. Apart from alleging undesirable
consequences of risk to “act of god”, ISO 31000 : Risk Management - Principles and
Guidelines and ISO 31010 : Risk Management Techniques might provide FM
practitioners with additional insights about risk control.
For the coming FMCs, we would share the recent thinking and best practices about
better risk management.
