Language Proficiency Assessments forCalifornia. The ELPAC is the test that is

used to measure how well Californiastudents understand English.  It helps

teachers gain a better understanding ofwhat type and how much support students

need so they can learn in English and besuccessful in school. Because it is an

annual measure it also tells the school howmuch progress students are making in

learning English and whether or not they areeligible for reclassification.

ASSETs -After School Safety and Enrichment for TeensWe have a new Program Manager for ASSETs! Let's welcomeDavid Truong to our Warrior family. David comes to us from WillC. Wood MS. He was a Program Manager there for about 2.5years. He is a great fit for our school!ASSETs offers credit courses and enrichment programs forstudents on campus. Math & ELA tutoring is also availableMonday - Friday in the Library! Students can pick up applicationin C3. 

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!31.6% of students at HJHS were chronically absent in 2018-19. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to graduateand find good jobs. In fact, a high school graduate makes, onaverage, a million dollars more than a dropout over a lifetime.Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year tostay engaged, successful and on track to graduation. Students - can you challenge yourself to be in school every dayfrom now until the end of the school year? Encourage yourfriends and classmates to do the same!Teachers - talk to students about the importance and benefits ofgood attendance in school. Call home right away when younoticed that a student is not attending class regularly.Families - thank you for getting our students to school everydayand on time.
