Call to Worship From Psalm 96
Prayer of Confession
†Come, Behold the Wondrous MysteryCome behold the wondrous mystery
In the dawning of the KingHe the theme of heaven’s praises
Robed in frail humanityIn our longing, in our darknessNow the light of life has come
Look to Christ, who condescendedTook on flesh to ransom us
Come behold the wondrous mysteryHe the perfect Son of Man
In His living, in His sufferingNever trace nor stain of sin
See the true and better AdamCome to save the hell-bound man
Christ the great and sure fulfillmentOf the law; in Him we stand
Come behold the wondrous mysteryChrist the Lord upon the treeIn the stead of ruined sinners
Hangs the Lamb in victorySee the price of our redemption
See the Father’s plan unfoldBringing many sons to glory
Grace unmeasured, love untold
Come behold the wondrous mysterySlain by death the God of life
But no grave could e’er restrain HimPraise the Lord; He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliveranceHow unwavering our hopeChrist in power resurrected
As we will be when he comes
Responsive Reading From Titus 3
†Just As I AmJust as I am without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,O Lamb of God, I come, I come
Just as I am I would be lost, but mercy and grace my freedom bought
And now to glory in Your cross, O Lamb of God, I come, I come
I come broken to be mended, I come wounded to be healed.I come desperate to be rescued, I come empty to be filled.
I come guilty to be pardoned by the blood of Christ the Lamb,And I’m welcomed with open arms, praise God, just as I am
Just as I am Thou will receive, will welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieveBecause Thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come
†Be Thou My VisionBe Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.Thou my best thought, by day or by night,Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my wisdom, and thou my true wordI ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;Thou my great Father and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee One.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,Thou mine inheritance, now and always;Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,Still be my vision, O Ruler of all

The Father’s wrath completely satisfied Jesus, thank You

Why do we do that?
Singing these particular songs:We believe that scripture allows us to sing a variety of songs from all times and seasons in church history (Col. 3:16). In our church we practice a blended style with a mix of ancient and modern hymns as well as some contemporary songs. As we sing songs from the history of the church we connect with our past. As we sing songs from the present day we connect with churches around us who worship the same God. We sing these particular songs because we believe they are centered around God and the gospel, not us. Also, they must be explicity about the God of the Bible and not so vague as to leave us wondering who we’re re-ally singing about. Lastly, the style and tune must be accessible to all who gather for worship at our church, enabling us to worship in a way that is familiar, yet also preferential those who are comfortable in other traditions (Rom. 12:10, 1 Cor. 14:26).
