Philosophy and Methods Conscientization means breaking through
prevailing mythologies to reach new levels of awareness - in particular, awareness of oppression, being an "object" of others’ will rather than a self-determining "subject.”
Conscientization…differs from "consciousness raising" in that the latter may involve transmission of preselected knowledge.
The process of conscientization involves identifying contradictions in experience through dialogue and becoming part of the process of changing the world.

Key Outcomes Bottom up advocacy: starting from the
grassroots, assisting people plan and mobilise around their own causes, their own issues as they relate their lives.
Self-esteem for better self efficacy: internalization of knowledge, changing attitudes and behaviour, dealing better with stigma (individual and societal levels), better uptake of services, etc.
Conducive environment: better links/relationships between affected communities and local, regional and national governance structures; assist in achieving better understanding of legal policy frameworks for both implementers and affected communities
