HISTORY OF THE INTERNET
By: Anthony Gomez and Scott Zuniga
When Did It All Start
As computer development in the 1950s commenced, many had the idea to use these computers computers for social interactions.
Thus the idea of creat the “Internet began”.
In 1966 Mit researcher Lawrence G. Roberts went to the DARPA(Defence advanced research projects agency)to put his plan for the APRANET
Timeline
ARPANET In August 1968, Robert and the DARPA funded
community, had refined the overall structure and specifications for the ARPANET
An RFQ was released by DARPA for the development of packet switches called Interface Message Processors (IMP's)
In September 1969, BBN installed the first IMP at UCLA and the first host computer was connected.
The Stanford research institute created the second node.
ARPANET Two more nodes were added at UC Santa Barbara and
University of Utah.
Fried at UCSB investigating methods for display of mathematical functions using storage displays to deal with the problem of refresh over the net.
Robert Taylor and Ivan Sutherland at Utah investigating methods of 3-D representations over the net.
Computers were added quickly to the ARPANET during the following years, and work proceeded on completing a functionally complete Host-to-Host protocol and other network software
Internet for All
It wasn’t until the late 1990s before the Internet made its way into most people's home, and then through a dialup service such as AOL or Earthlink.
What is officially recognized as the internet
On October 24, 1995, the FNC unanimously passed a resolution defining the term Internet
The FNC stated, “The Federal Networking Council (FNC) agrees that the following language reflects our definition of the term "Internet". "Internet" refers to the global information system that -- is logically linked together by a globally unique address space…”
Vint Cerf And Bob Kahn
Vint Cerf is an American computer scientist, who is recognized as one of "the fathers of the Internet.”
Bob Kahn i considered an American Internet pioneer, engineer and computer scientist.
Bob Kahn along with Vint Cerf, invented the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), the fundamental communication protocols at the heart of the Internet.
How do people use the internet? Many people around the world
use the internet for many different things such as
1. Access their e-mails
2. Access a social networking site
3. For business advertising or marketing
4. Selling merchandise or other commodities
5. Communication through Skype or Facetime

and president of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives
