Classroom Rules: ¯ Please remember to keep your phones turned off and put

away during the class period. If I see or hear a cell phone during class I will confiscate it.

¯ No food or drinks are allowed in class. ¯ This class space is used by several groups of students. We

must be respectful of the space and all the students that utilize the equipment in the band room.

Class Participation: ¯ Class Participation will be factored into your grade on a

weekly basis. You will receive one point for each day that we have class in a given week.

¯ Full participation points will be awarded for: o Following classroom rules o Active participation in class discussion o Working co-operatively with your peers.

Grading: ¯ Student’s grades are based on a points system. ¯ Graded assignments include: Homework, class work,

projects, quizzes, and exams ¯ The cumulative final exam will be worth 10% of your final

grade. Homework:

¯ This class involves a lot of reading. Homework assignments will include: reading from the textbook, completing worksheets, taking notes, independent research, and reflection assignments.

¯ Homework must be completed so that each student is prepared for the next day’s class discussion.

¯ If you do not have the resources to complete a homework assignment, please let me know as soon as possible.

Projects: ¯ There will be one major project assignment ¯ Smaller projects may be added throughout the semester as

necessary. Missed Work:

¯ Any work missed during an absence must be completed and turned in (in a timely manner).

¯ If you are absent on the day a project is due, you will be responsible for turning it in when you return to class.

¯ Handouts will be available on Miss Biggs’ wiki page or on the class Edmodo Page.

Google Classroom: ¯ Students will be instructed on how to log in during class. ¯ This class will be using Google Classroom as a way to

turn in assignments electronically. ¯ Students will be expected to log in and appropriately

participate in classroom assignments and activities posted. Website:
