The Middle Ages started in 800-1400 C.E.

The Middle Ages is also known as the

Mediaeval times.

This musical era consist of almost a

thousand years of music.

The Renaissance Period started in 1400-

1600 C.E.

This period in time marked the rebirth of

humanism, and the revival of cultural

achievements for their own sake in all

form of music.

The Baroque Era started in 1600-1750 C.E.

The word baroque was derived from a

Portuguese word meaning “a pearl of

irregular shape.” Baroque was initially

used to imply strangeness.

The Classical Era started in 1750-1820 C.E.

This period of music only lasted for 70

years.

The Romantic Era started in 1850-1920

C.E.

The Romantic Era was a period of great

change and emancipation. The

romantic Era was allowed to have artistic

freedom because classical music had

strict laws of balance and restraint.

Composer of the Romantic Era Felix

Mendelssohn

Felix was born February 3, 1809 and died

November 4, 1847. He was a German

composer, pianist, organist and

conductor of the early Romantic period.

He began to compose at age 11; at 16

he wrote his first masterpiece.

Some of the early 20th century music can

be seen as extensions of the late

Romantic style, much of the 20th century

music can be seen as a rebellion.

SINGING

To become a good singer you must be

able to breathe properly, sing with

power and sing on pitch. To become a

great singer you’ll need to have a

musical voice that only comes with

intense practice. Singing is fun and most

likely you will be admired if you’re a

good singer.

To be a singer: find a vocal coach, learn

your vocal range, have confidence

especially in big or little crowds, and

always warm up before singing.

To warm up your vocal cords you can

sing little riddles, sing a short song, sing la

la la going up or down a scale or sing ah

up the scale until u cant go any higher.
