Paper and coin money was invented as a means and a way of conducting business in an easier manner. It was created for many reasons, the basic and foremost reason being as a medium of exchange. In the past, man used very items as symbols of money such as cattle, the teeth of whales, elephant tails, cowries and yap stones, among many others. As the variety and volume of trade in goods and services increased, the need for a common form of currency also increased and thus the invention of money in cash and coin form. Money is generally used and accepted as a means of payment for services and goods.

Maybe this money where taken out because the political system changed or it was uncomfortable to use or because new banknotes appeared and 1 leu needed to be divided. We don’t really know the reason.

Almost everybody in my country has old money because new money appeared only in 1993 so it was not very long ago. Therefore old money here is a common thing.
