What are search engines?• A program that searches documents for
specified keyword and returns a list of documents where the keyword were found.
• Search engines are used for searching information from websites through internet.
• Examine information personally.• The search engines and directories help you
sift through all those 1’s and 0’s to find out specific information you need.

History of Google• Google is an American Company.• Created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.• They were Doctoral Students of Stanford
University.• Google’s idea was born in 1996.• Search machines had serious problems all

make a new and better Search Machine.
The Search Machine
• They had to download all the web pages in their servers and make a good connection between search machine result and users searches.
• This problem arisen from other search machines and they had to solve it.

• Facebook was founded in 2004 by Harvard student Mark E.Zuckerberg with the help of his roomates Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
• Facebook was for Harvard students then expanded to other other colleges then to anyone over the age of 18, and now currently to anyone 13 years of age or older.
• Company’s over view: “Facebook’s mission is to give people the
power to share and make the world more open and connected”.

Disadvantages of Facebook
• Facebook addiction causes many problems.• Fake profile.• Bad effects on students results.• Used by criminal minds.• Sharing too much information could become
a problem so share only what you a comfortable with your sharing.

• LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. Founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking.
• The site is available in 20 languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Czech, Polish, Korean, Indonesian, Malay, and Tagalog.
• The company was founded by Reid Hoffman• Founder Reid Hoffman, previously CEO of
LinkedIn, is now Chairman of the Board• LinkedIn is headquartered in Mountain View,
