The Basque patio, left, built by the Spanish in 7794, is a famous courtyard of the Vieux Carre, or French Quar- ter, in New Orleans. Above, a brass band parades a street in the French Quarter. The Dixieland parade is one of the oldest and most orchoic forms of jazz.
This sidewheeler steamboat cruises the Mississippi daily. The river is only a short distance from the Rivergofe convention center.
