Our school is located in a beautiful Spanish villa, at a unique spot in the University area of Valencia City.

You will find Hispania, escuela de español next to the Rector’s Office of the University of Valencia and Viveros Park.

where visitors can find an amazing variety of shops, bars and cinemas.

For the students interested in playing tennis or horseback riding during their stay at our school, you can

Hispania, escuela de español opened its doors in 2002, with the idea of creating a philosophy of life through

teaching Spanish. According to our philosophy, qualities such as tolerance, humanity, and positivism prevail over

all other aspects. From that point onward, this idea gained support, and made the number of students who were

willing to embrace our method grow, which makes us the most popular school in the city. In spite of our rapid

growth, the school has never lost its relaxed, welcoming and warm atmosphere.

The Hispania staff always has the academic needs of the students in mind, while also helping them

The Hispania Method

At Hispania, escuela de español we use our own unique teaching method, based on conversation to develop the

different linguistic skills, in which the student is the leader of the communication process.

The philosophy of our method is to use errors as the catalyst of the learning process, creating a pleasant

environment in order to stimulate students to participate in class without any fear of making a mistake.

The teachers are the key to developing our method. Thanks to their professionalism and effort we are able

to create tailor-made lessons depending on the students that attend each class, so the student can benefit from

every lesson without following a specific book or manual.

The coordination between the teachers, along with working in small groups, gives us the chance to evaluate

the progress of each individual student in the class, and for this reason there’s no need for regular written exams

to certify their level progression.

The objective of every lesson is that the student reaches a linguistic target for his present level. This

way, each lesson has a start and a finish, so that all the students involved can take full advantage of it, without

penalizing those who attend a lesser number of hours. Since every student learns at his own pace, he will move up

in level individually, ridding him of the obligation of following the rest of the class and learning at his own pace.

Our teaching method gives the students maximum flexibility. Schedules can be changed, and lessons can

be postponed or even cancelled, in order to be taken at a later date. Thanks to our tailor-made lesson planning,

the student will always attend a lesson of their level in order to reach a new linguistic target.

AGeneral Spanish CoursesThis is the ideal course for those who want to achieve a complete knowledge of the Spanish Language. During the course, students will practice all the different linguistic skills: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, written texts, reading and listening comprehension, orthography and conversation.

DELE Exam Preparation Course

This is a specific course to prepare the student to pass the DELE exam. In this course, the student will practice all the different linguistic skills by studying different DELE exams from previous years. The learning process of this course is very fast and intense.

What is the DELE?The DELE is the only official Certificate of Spanish as a Foreign Language. It is the most important official Diploma that certifies fluency in Spanish. This Certificate is given by the Cervantes Institute and is officially recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education, and it is therefore internationally recognized. Hispania, escuela de español prepares more than 100 students every year for the DELE exams, and over 90% of them pass. That is why every year more and more students want to prepare for this exam at Hispania, escuela de español. Our students’ success shows the high standard of teaching in our school.

How many levels are there? Students can take the exam for the following levels:DELE – Level A1, DELE – Level A2, DELE – Level B1, DELE – Level B2, DELE – Level C1, DELE – Level C2

When are the DELE Exams?We prepare our studets for three different DELE exam dates: May and November in different countries, and an extra exam date in July (only in Spain).

CSpanish Courses for Specific PurposesThe Spanish Courses for Specific Purpouses focus on teaching Spanish for specific tasks and professions. In these courses, students will learn Spanish from texts or linguistic situations related with the different spheres of their professional life. In some of these courses, students will visit real professional working environments in order to observe and learn how the professional communication works ‘on site’. These are long term courses, from 30 to 52 weeks long, aimed at students who are interested in improving their

level of Spanish in order to access a Spanish University for a Bachelor's or Master's Degree.

They are combined 20 hours per week courses that include:

The course begins with General Spanish, with the

purpose of reaching a complete and advanced level of the

language. Afterwards, students will attend the DELE Preparation

Course, since the achievement of this Certificate is required to

During the final part of the course, students will attend lessons

on how to write an exam. During these lessons, they will be

trained to succeed in their written exams once they arrive at their

respective universities.

E2.Exam Preparation Course for University Access (Selectividad UNED)

More and more students and agencies recommend Hispania, escuela de español to students who wish to prepare

for the University Access Exam (Selectividad). Our teachers are hand-picked experts with degrees in the subjects

they teach, as well as knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language. Since we have gathered much experience

in teaching foreign students, we will never assemble groups of native Spanish students with foreigners, as their

learning process is totally different.

TThe Selectividad Exams consists of two parts:

1. Fase General, which is compulsory and consists of 4 subjects:

- Comment of a philological-linguistic text

- History of Spain of the XX and XXI century

- Second language: English

- A fourth subject to be selected depending on the studies and

University chosen by the student.

2. Fase Específica, which is completely optional and only serves to improve your overall exam score. Failing

this exam will not affect your final score; it will only have a positive effect if you get a good enough grade. We

recommend doing the Fase Específica only in those cases where the student posseses a Spanish level equivalent

to a B2+.

The advantage of taking this course with us is that we specialize in teaching foreigners who have not

mastered the Spanish language completely, so the lessons have a double aim: on the one hand, learning the

subject needed and, on the other hand, learning the Spanish language perfectly. In order to achieve this purpouse,

our teachers need to be experts on both subjects. On top of that, we only work in small groups, never over 12

students per class.

This course can be taken to prepare either for the Fase General only or both the Fase General and the Fase

Específica.

E3. Access Course to a Master's Degree at Universitat Jaume I de Castellón

As the Standard Course for University Access, this is a combined course that includes:

• General Spanish

• Preparation for the DELE Exams

• Writing Classes for Exams

The main feature of this course is that it guarantees its students

the pre-inscription in the Master’s Degree of their choice at the

Universitat Jaume I de Castellón (UJI).

The course has an 800 hour duration, which may be completed in

40 weeks (20 hours a week) or in less weeks, taking on a higher

volume of classes per week.The objective is for the student to reach

a minimum of a B2 level, which is required by the university in

order to make the pre-inscription for the Master’s Degree.

FProfessional Training Courses for Spanish Teachers

These are workshop-courses where the student learns the newest and most efficient teaching strategies used by our own teachers at Hispania, escuela de español; strategies that both ELE students and linguistic professionals have appreciated. This educational system is based on learning through interaction and never through theory only. The student’s active participation is essential, for dialogue is one of the main focuses of the lesson. After taking the course, all the Professional Training Course for Spanish Teachers students will practice the knowledge acquired by imparting a lesson to the ELE students, under the supervision and guidance of a teacher from Hispania, escuela de español.

Schedule

These courses are divided into 3 levels, which correspond to the A, B and C levels of the European Common Framework. There are two different types of courses: • Intensive Plus: This is a two week long course for each level, 20 hours a week (4 hours a day from Monday to

Friday). Students can choose to attend one, two or all three levels (A, B and C).• Extensive Plus: This is a 7 week long course, 6 hours per week. Students can choose to atttend one, two or all

three levels (A, B, and C).

Evaluation procedure

At the end of the course, students will have two practical classes as an ELE teacher where they will have to show that they can master the educational strategies they have learned during the course. These practical classes will be supervised, evaluated and corrected by their assigned teacher. The evaluation is based on mastering the teaching techniques for listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.

Vacation Courses

Our Vacation Courses are specifically designed for the students who would like to improve their Spanish in a limited number of weeks and, at the same time, enjoy a wonderful holiday on the Mediterranean coast of Spain.

We offer the possibility of combining in-class learning with a variety of social activities and visits to the main locations of touristic interest in the area.

Activities

Our school offers a great variety of activities outside of class, both cultural and fun. It’s an opportunity to get to know the cultural richness of Valencia and its surroundings, as well as the best tourist sites. Mostly in summer, we also organize excursions to villages in the Valencian Community, such as Cullera, Xátiva or Sagunto.

The activities program is also a great way of making friends with other students of the school who are not necessarily in the same class, and spend fun and unforgettable moments together.

Here is a list of the most frequent activities:
