President Message

Dear Brothers, Sisters and loving young friends,

Jai Shree Ram!

With the blessings of Shri Ram and Maa Durga, 2018 started off with great enthusiasm & joy amongst the

Devotees – SunderKand Path & Mata Ki Chowki set the ball rolling for a prosperous New Year, followed by the

vibrant Lohri celebrations on Jan, 13th. People in large numbers attended and enjoyed the festivities. My

THANKS to all the Volunteers who worked hard to make these programs very successful. Special thanks to the

Food In charge Mrs. Shubh Sharma, Mrs. Usha Verma, Star Foods, Maharaja Restaurant, Gaylord Restaurant,

Touch of Spice and several other Ladies who helped cooking in the Kitchen.

The special Feast of Makki Ki Roti & Saag, Lassi, Gur Vale Chawal on the Grand Function of LOHRI was

relished and truly appreciated by one and all. Despite the cold & frigid weather, record number of people

(1000) attended the Lohri Program this year. Another star attraction was a Beautiful Village of Punjab, (Pind in

Punjabi), set up to depict the true culture & ambience of this Festival. Colorful Phulkaris adorned the walls,

while Idols of young girls in typical Punjabi Suits & boys in colorful Turbans, were displayed to showcase the

village scene. A Charkha, a Chakki, a Dahi Matki, a Well, a Hand Cart full of Peanuts, Rickshaws, A Cart laden

with the harvest crop, Manjis, Pirhis, some of the commonly seen items in the streets of a Punjab Village, were

all displayed in this HOM village.

However, I also want to express my apologies for the inconvenience caused due to poor Parking arrangements

on these programs. On behalf of my Team, I assure you all, that we shall not let this happen again, and take

adequate steps to provide the Devotees visiting the Temple, a great comfortable experience.

Another highlight of January was the Basant Panchami, Saraswati Pooja & Republic Day celebrations, held on

the 28th of January. Yellow, the color of Basant, was seen all over…the Mandir beautifully decorated with

yellow flowers, the people dressed in yellow, Yellow Food served as Prasad & Langar, the Deities adorned in

Yellow etc etc My Thanks to everyone who joined hands and participated in bringing alive the true spirit of

Basant!

Our two learned Priests, Pt Raghubir and Pt. Dharmender Kumar recited Shlokas and sang Vandana in praise

of Maa Saraswati and prayed to the Goddess of Learning to bless ALL the children with knowledge, wisdom

and progress in life. Also, a group of singers Bharat Dhutia, Shailender Bhatnagar, Geeta Dhutia, Darshana

Patel and Mr. Atwal, sang beautiful songs to commemorate Republic Day and Basant. My special thanks to the

Hindi Class Teachers, who always encourage the children to participate in these functions.

I would also like to APPEAL to my Hari Om Parivar & Friends, to come forward and celebrate your personal

joys like Birthdays, Anniversaries, Achievements etc by Sponsoring Sunday Havan & Prasad, or, Mata Ki

Chowki on the 1st Sat of the month. We have an ongoing Calendar, where you can block the dates as per your

convenience. Two or more Families can also join hands to sponsor the food and seek Blessings collectively.
