PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN 2012
BIRTHDAY OFFERING
The Birthday Offering began in 1922 in the PCUSand continued to UPCUSA and then in 1988through the Presbyterian Women PCUSA. TheCreative Ministries Offering Committee of P.W.meets annually to review Birthday Offering
proposals, selecting up to five projects. To beconsidered, projects must meet criteriaestablished by the committee, including: 1. havinga purpose that meets basic human needs, and isconsistent with the mission concerns and policiesof the PC (USA). 2. providing a form of aid thatrelates directly to the people being served, and3. being a project less than three years old or anexisting project moving in a new direction. Thegrant amounts for the project will depend on
gifts contributed during 2012. The goal for 2012is $900,000.
The recipients of the 2012 Birthday Offeringare:1. Circle of Friends: Celebrating Life, Inc.
Living Water for Girls in Peachtree City,Georgia. Living Water for Girls will rescue,rehabilitate and provide safe refuge foryoung American girls who are victims of
human sex trafficking and exploitation. LivingWater for Girls offers therapy, education,counseling, vocational training and spiritualdevelopment to young girls who have beenlured or forced into commercial sexualexploitation. A small chapel is beingconstructed to house additional educationaland counseling programs, as well as worshipand bible study.
2. New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned
Children (NOROC). Building a Gymnasium andActivity Center in Tulcea, Romania. NOROC isa program that shares Gods love andblessings with children who have beenorphaned and facilitates the spiritual, social,physical and emotional development of thesevulnerable children. They offer their supportto various racial and ethnic groups. ABirthday Offering grant will help purchaseland and construct the building for roughly
400 children.
3. Synod of the SunSolar Under the Su(SUTS) in Irving, Texas. Solar under theSun is a new program of the Synod of theSun. Lay people will be trained to lead teamin the installation of solar-powered energy
systems. The systems provide cleaninexpensive, and long-lasting power in lowincome communities. Half of the BirthdaOffering grant will be used to install avariety of solar panel equipment at FerncliffCamp in Arkansas, where church missioteams can be trained on installatiotechniques. The other half of the grant wimatch funds for the purchase of solar paneland related hardware for projects in Hait
where SUTS currently focuses its missioefforts.

The following students will graduate fromButler High School in June, 2012:
Jordan Elizabeth Hinkle is a member of HillChurch and the daughter of Rich and
Heather Hinkle. She will be attending PennState University Main Campus in the fall.
Benjamin Jacox is a member of Hill Church,the son of David and Sharon Jacox, and thegrandson of David and Brenda Jacox.
Glenn Brennen is a member of Hill Churchand the son of Glenn and Pat Brennen. Heplans to attend Centenary College in New
Jersey in the fall.
Casey Arn is a member of Hill Church and ofthe Hill Youth Chorale. She is the daughterof Steve and Kim Arn. She is attending BC3in the fall.
Nathan Karwoski is a member of Hill Church,the son of David and Melissa Karwoski, andthe grandson of Janet Edinger. He will
attend Slippery Rock University in the fall.
Laurel Wain is a member of the Hill YouthChorale. She will attend BC3 in the fall.
Erin Ritson is a member of the Hill YouthChorale.
Other graduates:
Nikki Karwoski graduated from SlipperyRock University with a Masters in AdaptivePhysical Activity. Nikki is the granddaughterof Janet Edinger.
Katheryn J. Ihlenfeld graduated fromGeneva College with a B.S. in HumanResources. She is currently employed byButler County Community College in the HRdepartment. Katheryn is the daughter of Jim
and Debbie Ihlenfeld.
Danielle Nicole Hull graduates June 22 fromFrontier High School in Hamburg, NY. She isthe granddaughter of Edna Mae Knauer.
Elisha Mueller received a Masters in LibraryScience and Technology from Kent StateUniversity.
Erica Mohn graduated from Slippery RockUniversity. She majored in Marketing andwill be employed by the American IncomeLife company in Wexford, PA. She is thegranddaughter of John and Martha Major.
Emily Lyons graduated from the Universityof Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Communicationsand certificates in German and Western
European Studies. She will attend AmericanUniversity in Washington D.C. this fall toearn a Masters in Political Communication.
Britley Raabe graduated from IUP inDecember, 2011 with a B.S. in hospitality andmanagement. She is currently employed bythe Oncology Nursing Society. Britley is thedaughter of Bill Raabe.
Kristen Lentz graduated from BC3 with anAssociate of Arts in English. Kristen is thedaughter of Pam Lentz.
Shanea Raabe graduated from EdinboroUniversity with a B.S. in nursing and iscurrently employed by Shadyside hospitalShanea is the daughter of Bill Raabe.
Brian Mueller received a Masters Degree in
Applied Politics from University of Akron-Bliss Institute.
Zach Thompson, who is a choir member, HYCmember, and voice teacher, graduated fromSlippery Rock University in Music Education/Voice and will attend Austin Peay Universityin Tennessee this fall for a Masters inChoral Conducting.

We appreciate those whave agreed to help by praying for a student and making an extra effort to contribute funds.
