nature lovers! It´s an excellent option for those who want to enjoy the silence and the untouched

beauty of the Alvão Mountain.

The hike begins in the center of Ermelo village, where we will pass through the beautiful shale houses,

following the main road towards Fervença stream. Afterwards, a long climb up to Varzigueto rural

village starts, following idyllic landscapes and stunning viewpoints. The path is quite bumpy and the

walk is demanding.

One of the highlights will be the belvedere over the high waterfalls and the natural swimming pool that

these form. Once at the top of the mountain, after done the most difficult part, you` ll rest by the small

ponds of crystal clear waters of the river Olo, get your feet in the water – or get a refreshing plunge –

and eat a snack.

In the descending part, you`ll have opportunity to enjoy another lookout over the falls from another

viewpoint and observe the beauty of the natural pools of Piócas de Baixo.

Maronês cattle or wild goats grazing can often be found. This will be another great moment on the

Full-Day Gerês National Park Private Hiking TourThe Peneda-Gerês National Park is the only national park in Portugal and a UNESCO Heritage for

Biodiversity. This trail – Moderate Plus/Challenging – will take you through the heart of the natural park

and some of its best landscapes.

This is a cultural and scenic path, with particular emphasis on the community traditions of mountain

grazing. Sometimes you can see the Garranos, small wild horses that run freely in this hills, or barrosã

bovine catle led till the mountains where to corrals are.

You will pass through several corrals and their huts or cottages, where the shepherds stay overnight

to continue the task of leading the cattle on the following day. Before descending to the starting point,

you will enjoy one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Gerês – the belvedere of Pedra Bela.

totally done in the Douro Demarcated Zone – DOC – and surrounded by vineyard landscape that is a

World Heritage Site.

This hiking is classified with Easy / Medium difficulty level, because the path is open and easy to

progress, however, you must keep in mind its extension – 17.2 km – and the elevation gain that

requires some physical preparation, since the trail begins in Ervedosa do Douro Parish, descends to

the banks of the Douro river and returns to the point of departure.

Along the way, you will appreciate the wonderful landscapes of the valley and the Douro river, its

Aveiro is a city of singular beauty. It is located by the sea and the river, with its canals and the

The Paiva Walkways is an 8 km boardwalk through ruggedly beautiful scenery in Arouca Geopark. Zig-

zagging down rocky hillsides, hugging cliff faces and winding along the left bank of the Paiva river, the

Passadiços do Paiva were the winner of the World Travel Awards 2016 for the Most Innovative Project

in Europe and Europe’s Leading Tourism Development Project 2017. It will be a path through biology,

geology and archeology. Arouca Geopark is recognized by UNESCO as a Geological Heritage of

Humanity.
