Hike Korea is Korea’s first foreign owned

outdoor company that specializes in

showing visitors to Korea its unique and

unknown mountain landscape. Korea is

a land with a 5000 year old history. Much

of that history is delved in its reverence

for mountains that occupy 70% of its

landscape. Hike Korea organizes individual

and group hikes from one-day to many

weeks of exploration at either end of the

fitness scale. It can cater for a variety of

hiking demands, be they luxuriant, living

rough in the outdoors, sleeping in villages

or residing with monks at mountain

INTER-KOREAN VENTURES

Hike Korea is an avid proponent of a Unified

Korea. It has extensive experience in North

Korea as a provider of expeditionary type

travel. In 2011-2102 we spent four months there

documenting mountains of the Baekdu Daegan

for a photo essay book covering all of Korea.

In 2013, it escorted five motorcyclists into

North Korea, crossing from Russia, where they

traversed the entire Korean peninsula from the

top to the bottom, crossing the DMZ border into

Discovering Korean Identity through Mountain

Jiri Mountain National Park - 2014Is Korea’s biggest and first national park.

Considered the sacred mother mountain of Korea,

Jiri-san covers 471.758sq.km and translates as the

exquisite wisdom mountain. For thousands of years

Jiri-san has held strong spiritual significance for the

many Koreans that live and practise their customs

and traditions around its numerous valley’s and

ridge’s. In 2014 Hike Korea is running numerous

large group hikes ranging from 3 to 5 days in

length. Sleeping in temples, shelters, home-stays,

camping out, and experiencing all the fine food

customs Korea has to offer.

Prices range from large group 4D/3N hikes at

$1000 p/p - to individuals at $350p/d.

CYCLE TOURS

Korea has an extensive network of new cycle

trails that meander alongside rivers and around

mountains, providing access to many of Korea’s

national treasures, religious sites, small villages,

and local communities. Extensive mountain bike

networks also exist for the more avid cyclist. In

2014, Hike Korea is also currently researching

the opportunity to take cyclists on return rides into

North Korea from South Korea to discover the

majestic Kumgang-san national park on the east

coast of Korea.
