On December 9, 2008, more than 200 guests gathered at the Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghai in honor of Forbes Asia’s Fabulous 50 companies and Businessmen of the Year 2008. This year’s Businessmen of the Year award was presented to Lenovo’s Chairman Yang Yuanqing and President & CEO William Amelio, who also engaged in a Meeting of Minds with Tim Ferguson, Editor of Forbes Asia, and Cecilia Zecha, Programming Director of Forbes Asia.

Senior executives from many of the Fabulous 50 companies were also present to receive the awards. The Fabulous 50 companies are the best of Asia Pacific’s biggest listed companies with revenues or market capitalization of at least $5 billion. Forbes editors picked the group of 50 companies with the best aggregate scores for long-term profitability, sales and earnings growth as well as projected earnings and stock-price gains.
