LAUNCH OF THE GRADUATE INSOLVENCY PROGRAMME
IICA AND IBBI LAUNCH THE GRADUATE INSOLVENCY PROGRAMME IN
MUMBAI
15 February 2019
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and the IICA launched
Graduate Insolvency Program in Mumbai. The program was launched in the
presence of Dr. M.S. Sahoo, Chairperson, IBBI, Dr. Sameer Sharma, DG
&CEO, IICA and Shri Sumant Batra, President, SIPI. This is among the first
such courses in the world for professionals dealing with insolvent companies
and helping them achieve debt resolution. Approved by the Insolvency and
Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and curated by a group comprising
economists, insolvency, financial and legal experts, the GIP aims to create
trained professionals in the insolvency resolution practice for the near future.

10th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE GENERAL BODY OF IICA
CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY

IICA successfully concluded its 10th Annual General Meeting of the General
Body of IICA. The meeting was chaired by Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon'ble Minister of
Corporate Affairs and President of IICA Society. Key agenda items included the
approval of the IICA annual report and financial statements (FY 2017-18).
During the meeting, the General Body was also apprised of the steps taken by
the institution to meet the grand challenge of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB)
2018, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on November 2018. To meet the
challenge of ‘resolving insolvency’,the members were apprised of the launch of
Graduate Insolvency Programme. Similarly, the members were also apprised of
the creation of independent directors’ portal, status of National CSR Awards
and CSR advisory services to corporates.
MoU SIGNING AT DAR&PG
NATIONAL CENTRE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE ENTERS INTO MoU WITH
IICA

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Wednesday between the
National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) and the IICA to ensure better
utilisation of infrastructure facilities during training programmes of NCGG at
Delhi and for academic and intellectual interactions for a period of five years.
Shri. K.V. Eapen, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and
Public Grievances (DARPG) and Dr. Sameer Sharma, DG&CEO, IICA oversaw
the signing of MoU between NCGG, DARPG and IICA.
FOURTH ROADSHOW IN COMPETITION LAW
IICA ASSISTS CCI CONDUCT THE FOURTH ROADSHOW IN
COMPETITION LAW

The Roadshow on Competition Law was organised in Hyderabad by the
Competition Commission of India with a thematic focus on Public Procurement,
Trade Associations, Cartels and Leniency with the support of IICA. The Chief
Guest for the Conference, Shri ESL Narasimhan, the Hon’ble Governor of
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana highlighted the decreasing role of the state in
non-sovereign functions and stated that market’s role in achieving optimal
public welfare is pivotal. Governor also released Competition Advocacy Booklet
in Telugu. Other eminent speakers in the Roadshow included Shri Shailendra
Kumar Joshi, Chief Secretary, Telangana, Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairman,
CCI, Ms Sangeeta Verma, Member, CCI and Dr S Chakravarthy, former
Member, MRTPC. Deliberations on public procurement and competition law are
aimed at mitigating the loss of public money on account of anti-competitive
practices and augment greater compliance with provisions of Competition Act
by trade and industry.

CoC WORKSHOP
COMMITTEE OF CREDITORS WORKSHOP IN MUMBAI
15-16 February 2019
IICA in collaboration with Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and
State Bank Of India (SBI) conducted 2-day workshop on Committee of
Creditors (CoC) in Mumbai. This workshop was attended by 30+ top
management and senior level officers (GM and above) of major Scheduled
commercial Banks, who constitute the most important policy determinants
affecting the approach of major financial creditors towards their role in
CoC.TheForum of Indian Regulators (FOIR), in collaboration with the Indian
Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) conducted a ‘One-day Executive
Management Workshop’ in Vizag on 28 January 2019. The workshop witnessed
engaged participation from over 45 current and former Regulators (Chairman
and Member of various Regulatory Commissions). The workshop also featured
panel discussions on ‘Achieving Regulatory Harmony’ and on ‘Mainstreaming
Consumer Interest into Regulatory Decision Making’.
MCTP FOR IP&TAFS GROUP 'A' OFFICERS
MID-CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR IP&TAFS GROUP ‘A’ OFFICERS

School of Finance conducted 3-week MCTP for Group ‘A’ officers of Indian Post
and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Services (IP&TAFS) cadre with
16 participants of Additional and Joint Secretary level. One-week off-location
component was conducted at Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, including visit and
lectures at NLU Jodhpur. Remaining two-week training was conducted at IICA
with focus on technical issues, contemporary issues in business environment,
behavioural component and site visits/interactions.

IICA-NFCSR CONCLUDES CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME IN CSR
FOR GAIL

NFCSR under IICA successfully conducted a Capacity Building Programme on
Corporate Social Responsibility for implementing partners of GAIL on 8th March
2019 at GTI (GAIL Training Institute), Noida. The programme was designed to
provide an absolute understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility, policy
understanding and CSR Process Execution. The program brought together 26
experienced participants who have been in the development sector and
contributed to the execution of CSR projects.

IICA CSR CONCLAVE CONCLUDES IN COCHIN

IICA hosted the CSR Conclave in Cochin. The day-long event was held at the
Adlux International Convention & Exhibition Center, Angamaly. The Conclave
which is based on the theme ‘Improving CSR Ecosystems & Corporate
Partnerships’ served as a platform for deliberation on challenges and
opportunities associated with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and
Corporate Partnerships. The conclave also highlighted the importance of non-
financial reporting and its impact on enhancing corporate accountability and
transparency. The conclave witnessed participation from over 50 delegates
from across Corporates, NGOs and social organisations. The panellists
included luminaries such as Dr Madhukar Gupta, Addl. Secretary, Department
of Public Enterprise, Govt. of India; V P Nandakumar, MD & CEO, Manappuram
Finance Limited; Harish Krishnaswamy, CEO, Tata Trusts; Dr. Naresh
Aggarwal, Chairman, Lions Club International Foundation; Rebecca Teel Daou,

REPOSITIONING

IICA with DPE conducted a five-day “PSU’s-Repositioning programme creating
strategic leadership on cost, Performance, Innovation & Impact” from 25th
February 2019 to 1st March 2019 in Agartala, Tripura was inaugurated with
opening remarks by Shri R C Gautam, Dy. Director General, Department of
Public Enterprises & Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head of SoCGPP welcomed the
participants on behalf of IICA. Characterized by interactive sessions,
presentations and case studies, the programme was facilitated by Dr. Sanjay
Goyal, Director Amity Business School & Dean Industry Integration, Amity
University, Dr. Anurag Ateet Gupta, Former Executive Director, Indian Oil-R&D,
Dr Ahindra Chakrabarti, Director Great Lakes Institute of Management, Dr. G P
Rao, Founder & Managing Partner at GPR HR Consulting, Col. Prakash Tewari
(Retd), Independent Consultant - Sustainability & Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head,
SoCGPP, IICA. Mr. Manoj Singh, Senior Research Associate, School of
Corporate, Governance &Public Policy coordinated the program.

DR. NEETI SHIKHA, HEAD, IICA-CIB
DR. NEETI SHIKHA TAKES CHARGE OF IICA CENTRE FOR INSOLVENCY
AND BANKRUPTCY
A first in India, the Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy has been set up as an
apex institute of learning in insolvency through education and training by active
stakeholder engagement and participation. The Centre will also serve as an
apex school of learning on insolvency and related areas, in association with the
key stakeholders and institutions. The Chairs will be headed by eminent experts
and thinkers who will lead the thinking and execution by the Centre.
Dr. Neeti Shikha was recently appointed as the Head of IICA's newly
established Centre for Insolvency & Bankruptcy. Dr. Shikha holds a PhD from
National Law University Jodhpur. She has completed her LLM from University
College London, UK. She has held academic positions at various law and
business schools in India and Singapore. Previously, she was Associate
Professor, Symbiosis Law School and earlier at IMT Ghaziabad, India’s leading
business school. She also worked as an Assistant Professor & Director, Centre
for Corporate and Commercial Laws at National Law University Jodhpur,
followed by her stint at Fore School of Management. She has held visiting
positions at IIM Rohtak and IIFT, New Delhi.
Dr. Shikha, serves as an honorary advisor, public policy to the Alexis
Foundation. She works as an independent Consultant for the Centre for Civil
Society. She is also on the Board of Goeman Bindt HTO, a London based
International think tank, as a Leader and an Expert for law and policy.
