Community Voices
Why should you be involved in Community Voices?
Parents are the best spokespersons and make the
strongest case for services, prevention programs,
and community change.
Parents have hands-on experience that gives them
authority to make decisions about programs that
serve families.
Parents get support and information at the
meetings that they may not otherwise receive.
Parents can build on leadership and grow
further in the Family Support movement.
Community Voices parents are recognized as
leaders and called to speak at conferences and
public events on behalf of families.

What is Parent Council?
Parent Council is a governance body in place at
the Center to demonstrate the principles of family
support. Parent Council involves parents as members
and at least one center staff as equal partners. Their
job is to identify, design, develop, implement and
evaluate the activities, services and programs of their
Center.
Parent Council works with Center Staff to col-
laborate with field trips and other activities. Parent
Council may hold fundraisers to raise money to help
defray the costs for field trips.
We are on Facebook! Search for Highlands Family
Center Parent Council, or contact Miss Krystle if you
would like to be added, as it is a private group.
