Student Bulletin Page 1 Highcliffe School Student Bulletin Monday 23 rd – 27 th February 2015: Week B General Notices Ballard/Highcliffe Lecture Series (VDN) The next lecture in this Spring Series is on Politics: ‘Who would be in politics?’ delivered by Cathy Mussert who works for the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, as Head of Strategic Communications at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. Cathy will talk about why young people should get involved in politics and provide an insight into life at the heart of government. She is also a keen sailor and a crew member for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2015/16. The lecture starts at 7pm in the Performing Arts Centre at Ballard School. All welcome. Year 10 Immunisation Consent Forms (KTN) Please remember to bring in your Immunisation Consent forms to Mrs Thompson in Student Support. Thank you. Japanese students (DBN) Are you interested in hosting a Japanese student? We still need hosts for two more students. This is a really enjoyable and rewarding experience. They will be here from 17 th to 29 th March. There are some details on the school website. If you think you might like to do this, please let Mr Bryden know. Golf Open Day (JBN) Burley Golf Club is having an open day on Sunday 8 th March, junior and adult golfers are most welcome to come along and play 9 holes with a member to guide you round. The open day starts at 11 am with a welcome coffee and tee times from midday, complimentary sandwiches afterwards. Please ring the club to book your tee time. Please see poster attached. Clubs and Revision Sessions

Year 11 Science support Wednesday in SC8 3:05pm (RCN) This week the support session is for the Y half of the year group. We will be covering C4 sections A to D, which are atomic structure, ionic and covalent bonding and group 1 metal properties. Please have your planner to hand as it has a useful copy of the periodic table! Ecoclub Tuesday in SC2 3:05pm (RCN) The garden for the 2015 season is well and truly underway. Peppers, onions, tomatoes and fennel have all been sown and the final plans for the layout of this year’s garden are coming together. If the weather continues to be reasonable we will hopefully be able to put the new trees into the orchard this week – please bring appropriate outdoor clothing and waterproof boots if you are coming along!

Grease Production (GLR) Grease’ rehearsals Monday 23rd February – Full dress rehearsal – Please register with tutor then come straight to the hall. Tuesday 24th February – Matinee performance for primary schools – Students to leave period 2 15minutes early and go to the dance studio to get ready for performance. Evening performances – All students need to be here at 6pm and register in Gym (please arrive with hair and make-up done)
