The school has expanded over the years to its current status as Bucharest’s premier international school. Currently, over 1030 students from 64 nationalities enjoy the 10 hectare, state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility that opened in 2001. AISB continues to grow, with another building expansion plan underway that will increase capacity to 1100 students. The local faculty to foreign faculty ratio is 1/7. The student to faculty ratio in the High School is 14 /1. Scholarships AISB offers scholarships to 8 students each year, beginning in Grade 8 and continuing through to graduation. These scholarships are awarded on academic merit and financial need. Successful completion of Creativity, Activity and Service is based on student achievement of the seven CAS learning outcomes, demonstrated through their CAS portfolio. Our school calendar runs from mid August to late June.

academic programsAISB offers an academically rigorous university/college preparatory educational program in the English language. Students in Grades 6-10 complete the IB Middle Years Program. Students may also take elective modules from the VHS online programs. Support is provided through Grades 10 for English as an Additional Language learners.

Students in Grades 11-12 study the IB Diploma Program curriculum. The full IB Diploma Program is open to all students who wish to take it. Approximately 93 % of this year’s senior class are IB Diploma candidates, and 7 % are enrolled in a combination of IB Diploma and/or High School courses (which follow the IB curriculum).

AISB is authorized by NEASC to award US High School Diplomas and by the IBO to award the IB Diploma and Courses.

College application policies Students are allowed to submit up to 8 college applications. Admissions offices can be assured that an application from AISB is a well considered one.
