Responsible Department Legislative Services
1. PurposeThe purpose of this Procedure is to outline consistent procedures, protocols, and responsibilities to permit theplacement of election signage on public property in the Town of High River.
2. Scope
This Procedure applies to all government election signage allowed to be placed on public property within theboundaries of the Town of High River.
3. Authority
The CAO is responsible for approving procedures that are consistent with the accompanying policyas approvedby Council.
Bylaw Services will be responsible for ensuring the compliance and enforcement of the Eiection Signageprocedure and they will monitor election sign placement.
Legislative Services will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing the policy and procedure.
4. Definitions
CAO means the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of High River.Election Campaign is an organized effort which seeks to create awareness of a political party and/or candidatefor the purposes of a federal, provincial or municipal election.
Election Sign means a sign that Is one or two sided but supported by two (2) posts and that announces or
supports political candidates or Issues in connection with any vote or referendum pursuant to municipal,provincial, or federal legislation.
Land Use Bylaw Is the most current, approved version of the Town of High River Land Use Bylaw.
