WELCOME TO OURSUNSHINE COAST
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and invite your athletes, officials and supporters to consider our beautiful region as the perfect location for your next major training camp.
The Sunshine Coast is the very best location for training and pre-competition acclimatisation leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We are located one hour north of Brisbane International Airport, and are connected via direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
We boast a wonderful climate, some of the very best natural and built training facilities in the world as well as a laid back, relaxed, natural and welcoming atmosphere.
The Sunshine Coast boasts a reputation of hosting very successful major sporting events and national and international teams for training camps.
In 2018, we proudly hosted over 500 athletes and officials from nine countries, training for Commonwealth glory. More importantly, one out of five athletes who trained here medalled and all officials effusively praised our facilities and welcoming community. The Sunshine Coast is also home to the reigning two-time Suncorp Super Netball champions – the Sunshine Coast Lightning and the Pro-Racing Sunshine Coast team of the Australian Cycling Academy.
Should your team or sports federations decide to utilise the Sunshine Coast or training camps, you will receive the full support of Sunshine Coast Council who will appoint an officer to manage all aspects of your requirements. This includes negotiating access to training venues, transport, accommodation, communications, support and even connections to our world famous tourism attractions.
We look forward to welcoming you.

There was a measurable difference in the morale of athletes that attended the Sunshine Coast camp with those that went straight to the village. People were really disappointed they did not get to join the pre-Games training camp.Irene Riach, Camp Director, Team Scotland

Sunshine Coast has been an absolutely fantastic partner for us, not only the Council but more importantly the people, the volunteers, the community. They have come together not only for us but also the eight other countries who trained here. Scotland hosted the Commonwealth Games four years ago and we know for the games to be successful that the community get behind it and feel involved in it and that is what we’ve found here.
