Introduction

High Performance Concrete

High performance concrete (HPC) has been defined asconcrete that possesses high strength, good workability, and high durability.

ACI has defined HPC as a concrete in which certaincharacteristics are developed for a particular applicationand environment. Under the ACI definition durability isoptional and this has led to a number of HPC structures, which should theoretically have had very long services

lives, exhibiting durability associated distress early in their lives. ACI also defines a high-strength concrete asconcrete that has a specified compressive strength for design of 41 Mpa (6,000 psi) or greater.

Preliminary Investigation

Determination of optimum proportions of mineral

admixtures for the blended cement.Fineness for the blended cement.

Setting time.

Soundness .

Specific gravity.

Mix Design

Mix Design based on Meth and Aitcin Simplified

Method.Strength ranging 100 Mpa

Selection of binder 100 % of Portland cement to be used.

Mix containing 100 % PPC is considered as a controlmix, were this PPC is replaced by blended cementhaving optimum proportions of mineral admixtures

Microstructure Study

Microstructure properties for the specimens at an

age of 3, 7 and 28th day to be determined.

Were SEM and XRD techniques are to be used for this analysis to determine particle size, chemical

composition and etc,.

Hydration processes of the Blended Cement Pastebased on the Microstructure analysis is to becarried out.

Based on the results a detailed discussions andcomparisons are to be made.
