MOSS
Because it thrives in damp, shady areas, moss is a leading weed problem in the Pacifi c North-west (and mounting issue in the Northeast). Moss is often seen on lawns, roofs, walkways and decks. Apply an herbicide, such asMoss Out!® For Lawns or Moss Out!® For Roofs, to remove unsightly moss without harming plants or surfaces.
HIGH IMPACTSOLUTIONS
JAPANESE BEETLES
Human migration and prevailing winds have introduced this pest to the Midwest. Protect your plants from a wide variety of outdoorinsects, including Japanese beetles, byapplying a GardenTech® Sevin® Insecticide. Depending on the plant, this insecticide can be applied throughout the growing season, right up until the day before harvest.
IRON DEFICIENCY
When plants or grass turn pale green or yellow, it may be due to iron defi ciency. To make them vibrant again, use a mineral supplement like Ironite® Granules. The iron in this product helps plants and grass turn from yellow to green. Plants receive the essential nutrients needed for fast-acting, long-lasting “greening”.
SNAILS AND SLUGS
Snails and slugs are some of the worstregional garden pests in New England, theMid-Atlantic and the Pacifi c Northwest. A slug can eat as much as it weighs (about one ounce) in one night. A specialized insecticide likeCORRY’S® Slug & Snail Killer protects plants from damage caused by their feeding.
GARDEN PESTS
Destructive pests, such as aphids (see above), are synonymous with gardening. To prevent feeding and nesting-related damage, use a GardenTech® Worry Free® Brand Insecticide. Featuring a special botanical formulation derived from Chrysanthemum fl owers, these products combat insects that target fruits, vegetables and ornamentals.
FERTILIZING
More than 18 million* households nationwide grew their own herbs last year. If planting an herb or edible garden, consider using a natural organic fertilizer like Alaska® Fish Fertilizer or Alaska® by Pennington® Pure Kelp Plant Food. The nutrient rich fi sh and kelp plant foods enrich the soil and enhance the strength and vigor of all plant types.
