Kiwa offers you three specialized Tank Storage service packages. Our Inspection and NDT services can be purchased as total packages for pipes and tanks, as well as separately on customer demand. Kiwa has over 15 certified EEMUA assessors throughout nine countries in Northern Europe who are able to assist you.

Asset Management Our first service package consists of both visual inspections, in- and out-service and various NDT methods resulting in complete inspection reports. These reports can be used as input for Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and maintenance or asset management software. We also offer certification of the management system and support your RBI program. Our (visual) inspection is based on EN 14015, EEMUA 159 and local legislation. All services can lead up to RBI and managements systems certification according to ISO 55001 i.e..

Non-destructive testing is used as part of a manufacturing or installation inspection to check if quality demands are being met. As an example, welded steel joints are x-rayed to check the quality of the welding. The radiographic test reveals if the joint is fully welded or contains unacceptable faults.

Non-destructive testing is also used as part of in-service inspections or preventive maintenance to quantify the status of critical components and equipment. As an example, the steel plate floor of a storage tank can be inspected with a floor scanner. The floor may be subject to corrosion and the scanner measures the remaining plate thickness. If too thin, the plate needs to be replaced to avoid the tank starting to leak.

3Asset Data Modelling

Laser scanning of tanks is frequently used for the calibration of tanks. But we can do much more with these data. Our third service package therefor consists of virtual reality and augmented reality Asset Data Modeling. Our 3D modeling is based on drawings, laser scanning, and photogrammetry. The model is filled with data from the owner (instructions, tags), maintenance data and TIC data, which can either be accessed on site (smart glasses) or in the office through VR.

The data modeling leads to input for RBI. Calculations based on the data lead to EEMUA inspections and related NDT. This is input for and visualized in the VR model. With this you are able to visualize and plan inspections and/or maintenance on a time basis (now, next year, year after). Maintenance and inspection history is always available onsite or remotely at your desk. For instance necessity for scaffolding and how it is/was built are available directly onsite. The history is literally stored on the asset.

Asset Integrity In this second service package we offer inspection services on asset integrity on various levels. Of course basic NDT and mechanized NDT. But NDT can also be supported by drone services. Kiwa is development partner of Flyability and has access to the latest techniques.

We use two types of drone inspection. The first type is an indicative visual inspection where areas of interest are identified. These areas can then be inspected manually with scaffolding, rope access or mechanized. The second type is NDT from the drone itself.2
