a. C6H14 (Heksana) berikut jumlah isomernya : 

isomer rantai lurus. CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH3 = n-heksana 

mengurangi rantai induknya dengan satu atom karbon dan jadikan cabang. CH3-CH-CH2-CH2-CH3 = 2-metil-pentana CH3 

CH3-CH2-CH-CH2-CH3 = 3-metil-pentana CH3 

mengurangi lagi rantai induknya, menjadi dua atom karbon dijadikan cabang. CH3 CH3-C-CH2-CH3 = 2,2-dimetil-butana CH3 

CH3 CH3-CH-CH-CH3 = 2,3-dimetil-butana CH3 jadi, untuk alkana dengan rumus molekul C6H14 (Heksana) ada 5 kemungkinan isomer.
