Hiab XS 288 Range 24–28 tmThe Hiab XS 288 custom builtThe Hiab XS 288 is an outstanding crane for the growing demand in the 24 to 28 tonne metre capacity class. It underlinesour commitment to offer cranes that give the best possible performance in terms of reach, lifting capability and low-weightconstruction. The crane can be delivered with either of the Duo,HiDuo or HiPro control systems.

X-functionAngling the outer boom upwards relative to the inner boom gives greateraccessibility in confined spaces.

E-linkAn inner boom link makes it possible tolift a heavier load close to the column,and the outer boom link helps in liftingto higher positions such as scaffolding.The outer boom link does not protrudebelow the boom and thereby does notinterfere with any load placed underthe boom.

High-torque slewingA heavy-duty, high-torque slewingmechanism ensures safe and efficientoperation even on inclines or slopes.

Load-holding valveThe load-holding valve is a combinedhose-failure and load-holding valvewhich is mounted on the cylinder.

Hoses internallyThe hoses are run internally in the cranebody where they are out of harm’sway, thus reducing maintenance costs.

Oil bathOn most Hiab cranes over six tonne-metre the slewing mechanism is enclosed in an oil bath. This keeps theslewing mechanism in great conditionthroughout the years, making sure thecrane can be confidently used for extremely demanding applications.

Flexible cylinder positioningSome extension cylinders can be positioned on top of the boom, or side-mounted. This influences the crane’sdimensions and enables easier accessto confined spaces.

Side supports for stabilityThe side supports greatly improve theperformance when for example excavating or performing other high-stress tasks.

Hexagonal boom profileThe hexagonal profile ensures the boomis always in perfect balance, thanks toits shape and large support surface. Theprofile also minimizes boom deflection,which reduces maintenance costs andincreases efficiency.

JIC couplingsJIC couplings are standard on most Hiabcranes. They ensure easy and securecoupling, but are still very simple todisconnect for service.

Attachable toolsA wide range of attachable tools areavailable for your Hiab crane. Thesemake sure you can carry out a lot ofdifferent tasks.

Large slide padsThe hexagonal profile enables the useof larger slide pads. This makes the extensions move more smoothly andreduces mechanical wear on the boom.

HiDuo control systemThe HiDuo control system is based upon the renowned Hiab Valve 80. HiDuo comes with the SPACE 4000 intelligencesystem which intelligently monitors and controls the electronicfunctions of your crane. These functions are focused on assistingthe operator in two aspects, safety and productivity. The HiDuocontrol system support remote controlling with the XSDrive remote control.

HiPro control systemHiPro is simply the most advanced control system on the truck-crane market today, delivering unrivalled speed, precision andsafety. This is achieved by combining the CombiDrive2 remotecontrol, SPACE 5000 intelligence and Valve 91. Capacity is increased significantly by Automatic Speed Control (ASC). PumpFlow Distribution (PFD) maximizes productivity by ensuring super-smooth operation at all times.

Pump Flow Distribution (PFD)Hiab cranes can handle the highest oil throughput in the market.But skilled operators, able to operate several functions at thesame time, want even more from their crane. And Hiab delivers, with PFD. In situations where the operator is workingat the limits and using multiple functions simultaneously, eventhe largest pump may not be able to supply enough oil. This canresult in the crane acting unpredictably, but not if your crane isequipped with PFD. This innovative system distributes the available oil in proportion to the operator’s lever movements.All functions will continue to work just as expected with no disturbances or surprises, although you require more oil flowthan available. Once full oil flow is restored, it is full speed aheadonce again.PFD has proven extremely useful in practice. Even at an oil flowof 100 l/min, the system activates three times per load cycleduring normal use. If you demand maximum convenience andproductivity from your crane, you should not settle for less thana crane equipped with PFD.

Valve 80The Hiab Valve 80 is a top-of-the-line

open-centre valve based on well-proventechnique which gives superb reliability.

The valve handles large oil flows andprovides great precision and ease of

operation.

Valve 91The Hiab Valve 91 represents the pinnacle of valve technology, handlingvery large oil throughputs. It is aclosed-centre, pressure-compensated,load-sensing control valve, providingthe operator with finger-tip feel whenhandling the crane.

CombiDrive2

With the Hiab CombiDrive2 you can position yourself at the best possiblelocation when operating the crane. Itfeatures 24 proportional and 12 on/offfunctions for controlling the crane, optional equipment and accessories,all with the same precision.

XSDriveThe Hiab XSDrive has been ergonomi-cally developed to relieve you of stressand strain in hands, arms and back. Theload indicators provide information forquick and correct actions while work ison-going. There are also a number ofaccessories that can be added in orderto find the ideal control solution for you.

Intelligence systemsAll electronic functions are managed by a SPACE system, whichis a computer devised to intelligently assist you in operating yourcrane. The SPACE electronics are housed in a 100% weather-proof casing and is extremely reliable and easy to use. On thefront of the casing a number of indicators clearly show vital information to the operator. As an example, the pressure in thecylinders is displayed continuously. Observing these indicatorsproves very useful when positioning the booms for lifting loadsat maximum capacity.The SPACE intelligence system is available in different packages,each one with an increasing number of advanced and productivefunctions.All SPACE-packages benefit from the highly advanced Over LoadProtection (OLP) system. Productivity functions in the system areAutomatic Duty Control (ADC), Automatic Speed Control (ASC)and Pump Flow Distribution (PFD). These functions can be usedseparately or in combination. A valuable feature for service personnel is that fault code indication and load cycle data is alsostored in the system. This can be used for analysis and feedbackto the customer as to how he or she uses the crane.

SPACE 4000 intelligence systemThe SPACE 4000 system features Automatic Duty Control (ADC)and the Automatic Speed Control (ASC) function. The ASC function boosts capacity in a smooth, stepless motion and thusgives an edge in load handling and capacity that proves veryvaluable.The SPACE 4000 is a part of the HiDuo control system.

SPACE 5000 intelligence systemThe SPACE 5000 system features Automatic Duty Control (ADC)and the Automatic Speed Control (ASC) function. The later function boosts capacity in a smooth, stepless motion and inaddition to this Pump Flow Distribution (PFD) ensures super-smooth operation at all times. The SPACE 5000 is a part of the HiPro control system.

A jib takes you thereEquipping your crane with a jib gives you yet

another degree of freedom. Manoeuvring yourload to a roof top or into a narrow passage is

no match with a jib.

Designed for maximum performanceThe crane has an E-link solution which gives excellent lifting capabilities when handling heavy loads close to the column. Inorder to increase the lifting capacity even more a P-boom canbe specified as an option. The P-boom has up to five extensionsspecially dimensioned to carry maximum load. On top of this,each extension is slightly longer, giving you an outreach that isgreater than a conventional five extension boom.

E-linkAn E-link system is a kind of lever connection between the column andthe inner boom, as well as the innerand the outer boom. This is beneficialwhen lifting heavy loads straight up tohigh positions, such as on scaffolding.

Side supports for stabilitySide supports fitted on each boom extension stabilize the boom laterallyand minimize the play. Most Hiab cranemodels can be delivered with extensionside supports.

High boom warningWhen the pressure is on and you needto get to the next job fast, mistakes canhappen. For example, if a driver forgetsto park the crane, the consequencescould be serious. In these situations,you’ll appreciate a safety function likehigh boom warning. The SPACE systemcontinuously monitors the boom position. If the crane is left in its uprightposition, an indicator lamp in the cabinwill alert the driver before driving away.

Power andintelligenceOperating your crane by remote controlOne of the benefits of Hiab’s remote control units is that the crane operatorcan be positioned at the best possible location when operating the crane.This leads to more efficient, comfortable work and also increases safety. Afurther spin-off effect is that you can be your own loading assistant positioning yourself next to the load, or wherever the loading assistantshould be standing. Tasks will be completed faster and at lower cost.
