What is a 1769-FC module?

• The HI 1769-FC is an application module for CompactLogix and MicroLogix PLCs that automatically calculates and adjusts control parameters to maintain target flow rate conditions in a dispensing or filling system.

• The 1769-FC also monitors vessel conditions for min/max levels – when a user define refill-level is approached, the 1769-FC automatically initiates a filling cycle………

What else can 1769-FC module do?• 5-point auto Rate Calibration in

learning mode enables very high feed accuracy over a wide rage of feed rates. The 1769-FC will adjust for changes over the entire batch cycle by automatically compensating for variables such as varying head pressure.

• Rate Tolerance and Rate Exception alarms give an operate 2 alert bands over the process that can be used to either warn of changes in the system or shut down process if a user defined condition is exceeded for a certain length of time. The dual-band monitoring is also able to ignore sudden changes in the feeding cycle, such a an operator bumping the vessel while in operation……….

……without interruption to the production cycle!

How does the 1769-FC work?The HI1769-FC continuously monitors and records changes in the system weight over short intervals of time.

It calculates the difference between a user defined flow rate and the measured flow rate, then attempts to minimize the error by applying an algorithm to determine optimal control settings

Finally, it transmits the calculated control settings to the PLC which in turn adjusts the feeder device to achieve the user defined flow rate

The HI1769-FC also monitors minimum and maximum vessel weights.

When a weight limit is reached, the 1769-FC will instruct the PLC to automatically initiate a filling cycle.

Production can continue, without interruption, while the filing cycle is completed!

• Vessel head-pressure is automatically compensated for in a gravimetric system compared to a volumetric system.

A full vessel will dispense material faster than a nearly-empty vessel due to the added weight of material inside, constant manual adjustment

needed with most volumetric systems – automatically adjusted with using the 1769FC module.
