Family and Friends of Reaper Troop, once again

we find ourselves in transition; our Troop XO has

moved on and will be assuming the Squadron S4

position. I would like to take this opportunity to

thank 1LT Hollows and his wife Cindy for their

service to the Troop and at the same time welcome

our new XO from B Troop. 1LT Matt Bennett,

welcome to the Reaper Team. This month the

Troop will be inventorying equipment as I begin to

ready the Troop for another transition in the next

couple of months. Keep in mind, that if your

spouse is on one of the SFAAT Teams he will

continue to spend time in the field and in classes

as they prepare for their upcoming deployment.

Some of your spouses will also be competing this

month for their Expert Infantryman’s Badge and

their Expert Field Medic Badge, we wish those

Soldiers “Good Luck.”

Those interested in purchasing 1-71 CAV Apparel

see pg. 5, wear your Squadron colors proudly while

on leave or in your off time. They also have apparel

for your spouses and little ones. Great gifts!!!

With the spring and summer months upon us I

encourage you all to take advantage of the

outdoors and experience the North Country.

The 21st of June, Alexander Bay will be hosting its

annually River Fest, a day dedicated to bringing

Soldiers and their families closer to the North

Country and introducing them to what the area has

to offer. This includes boats rides to Boldt Castle as

well as experience the chance to boat up the Saint

Lawrence River through the Thousand Islands. If

able I highly recommend enjoying the day in

Alexander Bay. Soldiers have been given the

opportunity to purchase tickets.

Myself and the 1SG would like to personally

welcome a new Scout to our ranks:

Rhett James Perry – born 27 May 2012

We would also like to congratulate PVT Ralston

A friendly reminder, HHT is still looking for a

couple of Co-leaders to come forward or an

FRG Leader as well or some Key Callers.

Our FRG is only as strong as you make it. I

would like to stress that with the upcoming

deployments and JRTC or NTC training

deployments, its imperative to have a solid

family network.

The next Steering Committee Meeting will

be on 13th at 1000am in the Squadron

Conference Room, those interested in being

co-leaders, I invite you to come and partake.

On 14 June at 1800 (6pm) my wife, Erin

Thompson will be doing a “Wives Night Out”

at Coleman’s Corner in Watertown. This is a

friendly get together to enjoy some time

together and get to know some of the other

spouses within the Troop . See the flyer on

FROM THE Squadron Chaplain:

CPT Anthony Cuchens

Greetings from Chaplain Cuchens,

I am writing today with mixed emotions as this will

be my last time to share with you. I have been

blessed to be your Chaplain for the last 2 ½

years. We’ve laughed together, cried together

and shared these with the passion for life and

service that only comes from the Cavalry. I move

on to new opportunities in the Chaplaincy at Fort

Hood, but I will never forget 1-71 CAV and the

people I’ve served with here.

CH Suh will come on board soon and become

your Squadron Chaplain. I ask that you embrace

him and his family as you have me and my

family.

I leave you with a challenge given to me by my

mentor of how to live out your days.

The Essence of a New Day

“This is the beginning of a new day. You have

been given this day to use as you will. You can

waste it or use it for good. What you do today is

important because you are exchanging a day of

your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day

will be gone forever; in its place is something that

you have left behind…let it be something good.”

I will not say goodbye, but see you later. God

Bless and Godspeed.

Holy Ghost
