Heswall among best places to live

HESWALL has been listed among the best places to live in the North West, according

to a new guide.

The town has been named alongside the likes of Chester and Crosby as one of the

most desirable locations in the regions as part of The Sunday Times Best Places to

Live.

The two-part guide takes into account factors such as transport links, quality of

schools and natural beauty. It also looks at crime rates, property prices, cultural life and

unemployment figures while each area is also assessed on its unique characteristics

such as proximity to an airport or local festivals.

Design award for best new development

I group the Heswall Society will be making a design award for the

development which has most benefited the town.

The society is celebrating its 60th year and was set up in 1953 to preserve the rural

amenities of Heswall.

The society is still the only residents body which encourages the best designs of

ouses, retail and commercial properties in order to maintain the character and

distinguishing features of Heswall.

Builder arrested

A COWBOY builder doing a driveway in

Lower Heswall has been arrested by the

police. After discovering that the work was

substandard and very expensive, they

investigated and found that the workman

was already on warrant and there was no

tax on his van.

Drink driver banned

A 45-year-old man from Irby Road

pleaded guilty to drink driving on

Thurstaston Road and was ordered to

carry out 60 hours community service and

banned for two years.

Police on the streets to keepshoplifters at bay

POLICE have maintained a high visibility

presence around Heswall town centre

recently following reports of thefts from

shops in the area. There is also concern

among shopowners that rogue traders are

operating in the area.

three sons and a granddaughter, Cynthia has

chosen to support three charities, Marys meals,

Ovarian Cancer and Tomorrows omen irral.

The club meets twice monthly at the Grange,

Thornton Hough and have a varied and interesting

programme. They meet at 7.30pm on 2nd and

AWARD winning local amateur theatre group

Neston Players are right behind Welsh singer

Bonnie Tylers Eurovision Song Contest

entry in the 2013 competition. Bonnie will

be singing Believe In Me as the UKs bid for

Eurovision success in this years competition.

The group, whose next production Eurobeat

is an affectionate and humorous interpretation

of the legendary song competition, have

written to Bonnie to wish her the best of luck

and to let her know that the cast and crew willbe cheering her on as she take to the stage in

Malmo.

Paul Kirkbright, Chair Neston Players,

commented our production of Eurobeat is

being performed the week before Bonnie hits

the stage in Sweden, but we wanted her to

know that everyone involved wishes her well

in fact we are delaying our after show party for

a week so we can watch Bonnies performance

in the competition.

Eurobeat is a glorious comedy stage musical

which celebrates everything loveable and

cringe-worthy about the Eurovision Song

Contest. It is a truly interactive musical - the

audience get involved and vote for their

favourite entry so that a different winner could

be crowned every performance.The musical is set in Sarajevo, the city which

has somehow won the right to host the

competition. The Bosnians are undoubtedly

giving it their best shot, its just that somehow

things dont always go according to plan. A

tongue-in-cheek celebration of all that we love

(and hate!) about the Eurovision Song

Contest, this musical has been described

as one of the most exuberant and joyous

musicals to have appeared on stage in

recent years.

On this years UK entry, Paul Kirkbright

said: The great thing about Eurovision

is that it always surprises you. People

predict every year the best song before

the competition starts and who should

win, but nine times out of ten they get it

wrong so why shouldnt this be the UKs

the WIs finest hour. The whole

of its previous history - two

decades of educating, entertaining

and supporting women and

campaigning on womens issues

- culminated in the enormous

collective responsibility felt by the

members to do their bit for Britain.

With all the vigour, energy and

enthusiasm at their disposal, a third of a million

country women set out to make their lives and the lives of

those around them more bearable in what they described

as a period of insanity. Jambusters tells the story of the

minute and idiosyncratic details of everyday life during

the Second World War for the 5,546 Womens Institutes

and how they helped to improve the lot of millions of their
