2 Heron Creek Golf & Country Club

Dear Members,

The 2017 season is upon us in Florida. This season is especially important for

us at Heron Creek. We are presenting to you, the members, a completely

renovated golf course and practice center on Friday, October 21st.

The golf course is being reserved exclusively to our members and their guests

for the first week after re-opening. All requests for opening day should be made

through the Bailey's Platinum Preferred Placement System. Tee time requests

can be made up to 14 days in advance, and your actual time will be confirmed

by 6p.m. 8 days prior to play. In an effort to give every member equal access to

the tee sheet for the first week of play, association play for the Nifty Niners,

LGA, and MGA will resume on Thursday, November 3rd at their Season

Opener Event.

This renovation was a total team effort by managers and staff from all departments. Just to recognize a

few, pictured this month are Bart Cook, Director of Golf, mowing fairways, Christine Schneider of Food

& Beverage, laying pine straw, and Mike Smith, Director of Tennis & Fitness, assisting with the

renovation of course tee signs. For those of you still up north, please enjoy a few images of the grown-in

greens and newly replaced fairways. For our full-time members, I’m sure you have witnessed all of the

progress first-hand.

It is always a priority to provide the highest quality amenities for members. For example, renovations to

the pool and deck were finished by Labor Day. We are also conducting a survey for members to provide

feedback on the Tennis and Fitness Center amenities. If you have not received this survey via email,

please contact [email protected] to have one sent to you.

Please note: New hours of operation will begin October 21st. A flyer with this information will be

emailed to you within the next week.

Heron Creek is always implementing new ways to provide the friendliest staff, world class service, and

innovative facilities with the best value to our members. As always, appreciate your patience and your

loyalty to the Club.

Kindest Regards,

Chris Trottier, PGA

COO/General Manager

GOLF NEWS

HERON CREEK NIFTY NINERS

Dear Members,

Welcome back to another golf season at Heron

Creek.

We have announced Opening Day for October

21st with exclusive tee times for members from

the 21st to the 27th. Please make tee time

requests through Bailey system starting 8 days

prior to Opening Day.

Management, golf staff, and the grounds

maintenance staff are committed to improving

the course conditions for Opening Day and the 2017 season. We are proud of

the effort that was put into renovations, and I believe it will show just how

dedicated our staff is on Opening Day.

The Golf Staff is happy to announce some of the improvements we have

implemented during the course renovation to enhance your golfing

experience.

Here are a couple pictures of the progress so far:

We have a new bag drop structure and traffic pattern!

On course bathroom renovations are complete!

We have painted the doors and added much needed A/C

units in each restroom!

Course signage has been renovated and looks amazing!

On course water coolers and trash cans have been

upgraded!

We are looking forward to making this year even more successful than the

last. I look forward to seeing you at the Club!

With Regards,

Bart Cook, PGA

Director of Golf

Let's get this season started and play some golf! The 2016/2017 season officially begins Tuesday, October 4th. Please sign up using the Chelsea System no later than 5:00 p.m. on Fridays to play the following Tuesdays. New this year is a combined Opening Day golf event with the LGA and MGA on Thursday, November 3rd. The Club is re-sponsible for the event and will provide further details (sign ups, tee times, venue, food and cost). Although this is a com-bined event with the other Leagues, the Nifty Niners will play their own game (Step Aside Scramble) together. A Welcome Back Breakfast is planned for 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1st. We will meet in the Main Dining Room to chat

and share a few laughs. After breakfast, the League's opening day meeting will be conducted. Please confirm your attend-ance for breakfast and the meeting by contacting Patty We-gener via email at [email protected]. A sign up sheet will also be placed on the League's bulletin board. The 2016-2017 season membership dues are $50.00 and pay-able to HCNN. Please drop off your check at the Pro Shop or mail to our Nifty Niners Treasurer, Janet Vanaman. Those wishing to join the HCNN for the first time may get an applica-tion form at the Pro Shop or contact one of our Welcome Com-mittee members, Judy Thornton or Linda Heinlen. HERON CREEK MGA

With the major course renovations in pro-

gress, the MGA has not scheduled events

for the summer. Many of our members

reside up North and several local members

have taken advantage of the reciprocal play

policy offered by several clubs in the area.

Work on our course has progressed steadily

and we expect to hold our planned opening

day event on November 3rd.

The November 3, 2016 Tournament will be

a consolidated affair joining the MGA,

LGA and Nifty-Niners together for golf

with a party to follow play later in the

evening. The party will take place down at

the Hideaway with food, drink and enter-

tainment provided. It will be a great way to

kick off the new golf season and meet and

greet some new members.

New members are always welcome. To

join, obtain an application from the Pro

Shop, fill it out and return it with your first

year’s dues of $50. You will then be eligi-

ble for all of the weekly events and special

tournaments held throughout the season.

Sign-ups for an MGA Tournament or

Weekly event, should utilize the Heron

Creek web site which is

“heroncreekgcc.com”. This site will take

you to all MGA golf events and also allow

you to access the new Golf Genius app.

The Pro Shop will be distributing a Golf

manual to all platinum members both

online and hard copy in the near future.

The manual will describe the intricacies of

the Golf Genius App. Specific questions

can be directed to the Pro Shop.

HERON CREEK LGA

I think we are all excited for the Oct. 21st

opening of our courses here at Heron

Creek. Since the last newsletter, we have

enjoyed 2 away outings at Heritage Oaks

and Venice Golf & Country Club.

Heritage Oaks ended in a tie, with CTP for

Carol Parker, Maggie Elmuts, and Judy

Broughton. Venice Golf & CC was a chal-

lenge for all of us. The rough was so deep,

we spent a lot of time looking for balls, but

a fun time was had by all. The course was

in great shape. Winners were Donna Wat-

son. Carol Parker, Susan Engel, and Peggy

Dyer. CTP was Susan Engel, Judy

Broughton and Sandra VanBergen.

As a heads up, prior to our opening day

(Nov. 3rd), our president, Bonnie Taylor

Gillings will be e-mailing you the minutes

from our closing meeting from last season.

Your board decided this was a good idea so

you could read and digest the information.

At our meeting you will be asked for cor-

rections/additions and then 1st and 2nd mo-

tions for approval. Please be sure to read

the minutes prior to our meeting.

We, as a your board, decided to do it this

way as we are all so happy to see each oth-

er again and begin our season, that we are

all busy greeting each other and really

don’t hear the minutes being read. We will

do this for all general meetings in the fu-

ture.

We want to welcome 2 new members; Lin-

da Woodhall and Maria Rinaldo.

WELCOME! We are happy you have

joined our group. Ladies, try and mention

your name when greeting our new mem-

bers, because we all recall being new and

overwhelmed by trying to remember so

many new names and faces.

All lady Platinum members are welcome to

play in our Suncoast League. It is an inter-

club competitive league of 12 different

clubs using the Stableford scoring system.

It is a great way to meet other lady golfers

in the area and enjoy some tasty lunches.

Cost is $50.00 per event, which includes

golf, lunch and tips. Our first game is Oct.

28th at The Oaks; sign- up sheet is on the

bulletin board in the ladies locker room.

Sign up now, it’s fun.

Remember to sign up for Opening Day,

November 3rd! See you then:)

8 Heron Creek Golf & Country Club

Hi Everyone, Well, the new season is

here, and so I would like to

join you all in

welcoming our returning

and new members.. I hope

you all had a fabulous

summer! My staff and I have been

very busy these past few

months completing

maintenance projects and

making some noticeable

improvements to our tennis facility. A major renovation

of our community pool has also taken place this sum-

mer, which should make our swimmers very happy! As

usual, we welcome any feedback you might have as it

pertains to these and future projects. And thank you to

our members who participated in the Tennis & Fitness

Center Survey.

Some minor changes have been made to our tennis rules

and policies in an effort to streamline and maximize

court usage. These changes will be explained and

discussed at our “Season Kickoff event”, as well as

outlined in the tennis players directory which will be

made available to everyone. My goal as your Director of Tennis/Professional, and

the goal of my staff, is to provide you as members with

a comfortable environment where you can relax,

socialize, have fun, entertain and enjoy fun tennis!...

Please feel free to let me know if we are meeting your

expectations.

Wishing you all a Healthy & Enjoyable season!

Mike & Tennis Staff

TENNIS RACKET

TESTIMONIAL

Hi Mike:

Just wanted to let you know that

Tuesday morning all players who

showed up for open tennis were

absolutely amazed at how great the

court conditions were given that

we had 3"- 4" of rain the night

before. Not only were they dry, but

they had been groomed and

cleaned to perfection. As you know, most of our players

play in leagues and tournaments

and have played at most of the

clubs around Sarasota, Charlotte,

and Manatee counties. Everyone

here at Heron Creek agrees that we

have the best maintained courts of

anyone in the SW Florida area. We

also hear those comments from

other players when they visit for

league matches and Heron Creek

tennis events. So, kudos to you and we all want

Dennis and Bill to know that their

hard work does not go unnoticed.

Cheers!

Carol

natural waistline. Shirt tails must be worn inside the trousers unless cut in a style to be worn

outside (for example, a Hawaiian style shirt). For women, dresses, blouses, slacks and golf shorts

with a minimum of six inch inseam are considered proper attire. Shirts must have sleeves or a

collar.

Heron’s Roost Grille Room / Top of The Green Main Dining Room

Acceptable Golf attire as described in the rules and regulations is also acceptable in the Clubhouse,

Courtside Café and the Grille Room. Shirt tails must be worn inside the trousers unless cut in a

style to be worn outside (for example, a Hawaiian style shirt). Blue Jeans are acceptable only in

the Grille Room, Courtside Café or outside dining areas of the Main Clubhouse. Blue Jeans and

athletic headwear are not permitted in the Main Dining Room. Flip flops are not acceptable,

except in the pool area.
