Hernia operations are among the most frequent surgical

interventions. In Austria about 20.000 patients have to undergo hernia

surgery every year.

While formerly the quality of the operation was assessed according to

the recurrence, today postoperative chronic pain

remains the major problem.

In this theoretical and practical course we intend, after a detailed

anatomical inspection of the inguinal region and its important nerves,

to demonstrate the different surgical techniques, focusing attention

on the intraoperative nerve management.

The course will be held by the

Department of Visceral, Thoracic and Transplantation and Surgery

and the

Division of Clinical and Functional Anatomy

of the Medical University of Innsbruck.

For organizational reasons the course is limited to a maximum of 40

participants.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our course in Innsbruck.
