ALL SAINTS CATHEDRAL

• In 1871 A.D. British architect Sir William Emerson erected a majestic monument All Saints Cathedral 30 years before he designed the Victoria Memorial in Calcutta.

• The intricate work and designs on the marble altar and the stained glass panel makes the building more attractive. The Gothic style of architecture of the All Saints Cathedral Church, Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh in India has been a major Tourist Attraction in Allahabad. All Saints Cathedral Church is also referred to as “Patthar Girja”.

KHUSRAU BAGH• Khusro Bagh is a large walled garden, close to the Allahabad Junction Station, in

Allahabad, India, surrounding the tombs of Khusraw (died 1622), eldest son of emperor Jahangir, Shah Begum, Khusraw's mother (died 1604), a Rajput princess and Jahangir's first wife, and that Princess Sultan Nithar Begam (died c.1624), Khusraw's sister.

• The three sandstone mausoleums within this walled garden, present an exquisite example of Mughal architecture. The design of its main entrance, the surrounding gardens, and the three-tier tomb of Sultan Begum, who died in 1604, has been attributed to Aqa Reza, Jahangir’s principal court artist.

MADAN MOHAN MALVIYA PARK(MINTO PARK)

• This is the same place where in the year 1858, Lord Canning read out the declaration of Queen Victoria's Proclamation. This famous proclamation resulted in the complete transfer of power from the hands of The East India Company to the government of Britain. The step was taken in the wake of 1857 Sepoy Mutiny.

• 52 years after the incidepower. This lush-green Park has a white memorial stone that is mounted by four ferocious looking lions which are the emblem of the Ashoka Pillar. This mnce, in 1910, Lord Minto laid a foundation stone for the park. The Governor General laid this park in order to commemorate the transfer of emorial stone has edicts confirming it as the site where the historic proclamation was read.

CEMETRY(THE BURIAL PLACE OF BRITISH FAMILIES)

• It is the oldest Christian Graveyard of Allahabad.

• Here, the oldest grave is of Lieutenant Colonel A.W. Hersey, who was the first Commandant of Allahabad Fort. He died in 1798.

ALLAHABAD FORT

Allahabad Fort at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India was built by Emperor Akbar in 1583.The fort stands on the banks of the Yamuna near the confluence site.

It is the largest fort built by Akbar. In its prime, the fort was unrivaled for its design, construction and craftsmanship. This huge fort has three galleries flanked by high towers.

MAYO HALL

•Mayo Memorial Hall is situated near Thornhill and Mayne Memorial Library, in Allahabad. This large hall, with a 180 ft high tower, is a rare example of exquisite colonial architecture of the 19th and early 20th century.

•Designed by the renowned architect Richard Roskell Bayne in 1879, Mayo was built in commemoration of an assassinated viceroy and to hold public meetings, balls and receptions.

PUBLIC LIBRARY – ALFRED PARK

• Standing at Alfred Park this building was opened as a memorial to the friendship of Lord Thornhill, the then Comissioner of Allahabad and Mr. Mayne, the then Collector. It was called the "Thornill and Mayne Memorial". Designed by Roskell Rayne, this public library is a remarkable example of Gothic Style.

• The memorial has a lofty tower and accorded cloisters. In 1879 the library was shifted to the present premises, at Alfred Park. It has about 75,000 books, besides a treasure trove of manuscripts and journals.

VIJAYANAGRAM HALL – UNIVERSITY OF ALLAHABAD

•The foundation for Mayo Hall was laid in 1872 by the then Viceroy , Lord Northbrook. The College and Main Building were named after the former Lt. Governor of United Provinces Lord Mayo, due to whose efforts the Mayo Central College took shape. Designed by renowned architect Sir William Emerson of Victoria Memorial Hall, Calcutta fame. The building was completed in 1885 with an investment of Rs. 8 lacs, and inaugurated in 1886 by Lord Dufferin.
