What were our 3 Goals for this year?
1. Effective Library Job-Share.2. Collaboration with Teachers.3. Support for Improved Achievement
in Student Reading.
![Page 3: Heritage Middle School Library Shannon Morris and Lanie Kohler Report from 2009-2010](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022071807/56649ed05503460f94bdddb2/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
1. Successful Job-share Demonstrate that the synergy of 1+1 is
greater than 2. Create and streamline systems of
management to support students and staff.
Stay on top of communications that affect students and staff.
Have a solid “hand-off” system. Observe steady improvement of delivered
services.

Evidence for Job-Share Effectiveness Karri Borski: “I get two for the price
of one!” 30% increase in number of books
checked out. Last year: 4,880 This year: 6,321 Significant increase in collaborative
lessons.
![Page 5: Heritage Middle School Library Shannon Morris and Lanie Kohler Report from 2009-2010](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022071807/56649ed05503460f94bdddb2/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Next Steps: Teacher survey results needed. Collect another year of numbers to
chart improvement: gate count, checkouts, collaborations, etc.

2.Collaborate with Teachers Collaborate on one or two lessons at
each grade level. Incorporate “Information Literacy
Skills” in all lessons.

Next Steps: Use IB professional development
time to work on long-term collaboration and advance planning.

3.Support Student Achievement in SRI Reading Scores
Create a system. Label all fiction. Link SRIs identified in classrooms
with visible lexile color code to help students select appropriate reading materials in the library.
Encourage each student to read at his/her appropriate lexile level.
![Page 12: Heritage Middle School Library Shannon Morris and Lanie Kohler Report from 2009-2010](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022071807/56649ed05503460f94bdddb2/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Evidence of Success: Language Arts classes were oriented
in the fall to understand selection by lexile and color code system.
Of 10,485 fiction titles, three-quarters have been labeled. Students regularly select books now
at their appropriate lexile levels.
![Page 13: Heritage Middle School Library Shannon Morris and Lanie Kohler Report from 2009-2010](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022071807/56649ed05503460f94bdddb2/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Next Steps: Finish identifying lexiles in fiction.
(Possible finish in May.) Purchase services over Summer 2010 to
identify lexile levels in the catalog record of all library materials to enhance searching for students.
Continue to mark lexiles by color in new materials.
Color code nonfiction.
