Provide members the opportunity to:

• Learn about meat production.

• Experience owning and caring for an

animal or ham.

• Exhibit their animal or ham.

• Market their animal or ham.

Show your own animal at the Henry County Fair.

2019 at 9 am at the Henry County

Fairgrounds.

Alternative sale letters are due to the Sale Committee by August 1.

Seller must participate in a preview show or workshop on June 1st.

Steers must be born in 2018 calendar year.

Rate of gain will be calculated from weigh-in to sale day.

Steers must weigh 1,000 lbs. by July Show and maintain until August.

Ham Requirements

Ham enrollment is due December 14,

2018 to the Henry County Extension

office.

Members will cure hams on January 8

at the Henry County Fairgrounds at

6:30 pm.

Hams will remain at Hetherington’s

Meat Processing plant until Saturday,

February 9.

Ham Requirements, continued

Hams will return to Hetherington’s on approximately July 5 for smoking.

Members are responsible for all transportation of hams.

Hams will be exhibited at the Henry County Fair on July 15, 2019.

Members must participate in the Herdsmanship contest on July 15.

Hams will go to the Missouri State fair

on August 6.

Hams will return to the Henry County

Fairgrounds on August 19.

Members must clean their hams at the

fairgrounds at 3:30 pm to sell.

Exhibitors may purchase meat rabbits no later than 5 weeks prior to the show (see

rules).

Rabbits should be tattooed.

Market rabbits must be at least 10 weeks olds to sell.

Market rabbits sell in pens of 3 that weigh 11-16 pounds total.

Rabbits sell July 18, 2019.

Only pullets or broiler chickens can sell.

Poultry is shown in pens of four.

Poultry must be owned by exhibitor within

one week of hatching.

Ducks can be no older than 12 weeks at

sale.

Poultry will sell July 18, 2019.

Minimum commission of $20 or 4% of the

sale price (whichever is greatest) will be

withheld from the sale of all projects.

Commission used to cover operation

costs such as equipment, fees required by

judges, trophies and monetary awards, t-

shirts, photo printing, frames, copying,

mailings, etc.

Sellers must assist in cleanup

following auctions and check out with

a sale committee member prior to

leaving.

Failure to do so without prior

arrangement will result in penalty

fines being applied to premium

checks.

Buyers should be thanked in person and presented a thank you note.

A copy of the thank you note that is given to your buyer must be presented

to the Extension office beforemembers will receive their sale check.

If a copy of the thank you note is not received by two (2) weeks after

the auction the sale check will be reduced by 25%.

Members enroll by completing the

enrollment form and submitting it to the

Sale Committee by your project due date.

It must be signed by the members’

parents to be complete.

You may mail it or hand-deliver it to (MU

Extension, Courthouse, 100 W. Franklin,

Room 16, Clinton, Mo. 64735).

No enrollments will be accepted after

your project due date.

Members will be required to follow a

dress code during the sale.

Members must wear their sale shirt,

long pants and closed toed shoes.

Shirts must be tucked in the pants.

No hats are allowed in the show/sale

ring.

Individuals may show more than one carcass in the carcass show if the individual has their own

buyer the night of the regular sale.

The carcass shows will be held at Hetherington’s Meats Processing (beef) or Powell Meat Company

(other species).

Prizes are awarded by the Henry County Sale Committee to the top five carcasses per specie as

follows: Champion carcass receives $100 and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place carcasses receive $50,

$30, $20, $10 respectively.

If parents purchase their child’s livestock carcass they must write a check for the carcass.
