Endangered species are species that are near or very close to having their last individual dead. We must fight to save all these animals and protect our planet. This problem affects not only Portugal but the whole world. In Portugal, there are several species at risk . Some of these species are:

Mammals: Birds: Amphibians:

- Iberian Lynx ; - Black Stork ; - Salamander ; - Iberian Wolf ; - Imperial Eagle ; - Newt ; - Dolphin ; - Woodpecker ;

Fish Reptiles - Salmon ; - Snake - Lamprey - Gecko

Iberian Lyns• The Iberian lynx is the most endangered cat

species extinction and one of the most endangered mammals. It has a size much larger than a domestic cat and its habitat is restricted to the Iberian Peninsula. There are only about 140 Iberian lynx in the wild in the Iberian Penins. The main threat results from the progressive disappearance of the populations of rabbits (their main prey) due to the introduction of myxomatosis.

Black Stork• The black stork is a bird of the

stork family ciconiforme. It inhabits lakes, rivers or wetlands surrounded by dense forests. The black stork is distributed in Portugal, only the innermost regions, inhospitable and isolated.It is a strong migrant animal, except for the specimens of the Iberian peninsula which are residents. Its preservation lies essentially in the conservation of their habitat.
