Diabetes is becoming a big problem in our society, affecting currently one in every 20 people in the world.[1]

Prevalence of Diabetes • Diabetes caused 5.1 million
deaths in 2013. [1]• Every six seconds a person
dies from diabetes.[1]

Is there a cure for Diabetes?• No cure for diabetes • Can be controlled but not
easy. • Must prick their finger to
get drops of blood for test. • Limitation – don’t know
blood glucose between checks?
• Need advanced sensor

• Non-invasive *Blood free * not causing pain or trauma *real-time glucose sensors. *Ables to monitor during the day and night *use sweat, saliva or tears .

Conclusion
• The hydrogel shown a swelling in response to the Glucose and Fructose. But didn’t show a response to the sucrose.
• Challenges: Accuracy, the PBA has more sensitive for fructose than glucose

Future work
• Measuring using impedance. • Adding tertiary amine
