ThebeltcontainsalloftheimportantgeologicalfeaturescommonlyassociatedwithestablishedArcheangoldcamps.
Thisarea(60kmradius)oftheWawaSubprovincehasseenproductionofapproximately25millionouncesofgoldinthelast20years. MostoftheseouncescamefromtheHemlogoldmines([email protected]),wherepresentproductionaccountsfor1/3ofOntario'sand1/5ofCanad a'stotalproductionofgold.
GoldexplorationwasinitiatedintheMishibishuareaafterthediscoveryofHemloin1981. HundredsofnewgoldoccurrenceswerediscoveredwiththemostsignificantbeingtheEagleRiverDeposit([email protected]),MishiDeposit([email protected])andtheMagnaconDeposi t ([email protected]).
