Prayer: Pray for God’s guidance and an open heart before the beginning of the Prayer walk. Ask God to guide your steps and your observations. Seek to have an open heart.
For your walk:Just listen to the SpiritWalk slowly and observe. What do you see? Stores, houses, for sale signs, whatever. Just keep your heart and eyes open.Pray for houses as you go by, both for the people in the house and that your church can reach people in those housesPray for issues you know are important in your communityIf you see someone it is fine to engage that person in conversationBut the most important thing is to simply walk and let God work on your heart.
After the Walk
Reflect: What did I see? Was there something that
surprised me? What emotions did I feel? How did I sense the Spirit working on me? What do I need to pray about because I walked?
It is often helpful to journal with your reflections.
In the Weeks Ahead
Invite another church member to go on a walk with youPray over a map of the region, asking for God’s blessingsMake a list of community needs and pray over themPray about one person you know that you could invite to an upcoming church activity.Organize a day of prayer or a prayer vigil that your church can reach the community and make a difference for Christ.Put a map of your neighborhood in the church lobby and every time someone does a prayer walk, mark off where they have been, giving you a visual image of how you are blanketing your mission field with prayer.
