Present were council members Austin Bur- kett, Chris Helseth, Chris Larson, Peter Thorp and Mayor Kalvin Myers. Mayor Myers called the meeting to order. Thorp moved, seconded by Helseth, to approve the minutes of the April meeting. Carried by all. Dana Larson and Jim Rostad appeared before the board to ex- plain the reasons for the county asking for an extension of the ½ cent sales tax which will be on the ballot in June and to ask for the city’s support. Marvin Baker appeared before the board to ask for a reduction in the price of the property the board agreed to sell him last month. After discussion Thorp moved, seconded by Larson, to amend the motion from last month’s meeting to change the price to $300. Car- ried by all. Burkett reported on the prog- ress of the treatment plant/lagoon project. The engineer is working on number for a two cell lagoon instead of a three cell. It was reported that the dump grounds is open with the dumpster in place. Signs have been placed around town with the hours. Discussion was held on the need for several vehicles around town that need to be moved to make it easier for garbage pick up, blading and snow removal. Discussion was also held on some properties that need to be cleaned up. The board will contact residents about these problems. Discussion was also held on the length of time a building permit is valid. The monthly nancial report that had been sent to the board members was reviewed. City of CarpioCity Council Meeting

May 4, 2020The monthly meeting of the

Carpio City Council was held Monday, May 4, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. at the Carpio City Hall. Present were council members Austin Bur-kett, Chris Helseth, Chris Larson, Peter Thorp and Mayor Kalvin Myers. Mayor Myers called the meeting to order. Thorp moved, seconded by Helseth, to approve the minutes of the April meeting. Carried by all.

Dana Larson and Jim Rostad appeared before the board to ex-plain the reasons for the county asking for an extension of the ½ cent sales tax which will be on the ballot in June and to ask for the city’s support.

Marvin Baker appeared before the board to ask for a reduction in the price of the property the board agreed to sell him last month. After discussion Thorp moved, seconded by Larson, to amend the motion from last month’s meeting to change the price to $300. Car-ried by all.

Burkett reported on the prog-ress of the treatment plant/lagoon project. The engineer is working on number for a two cell lagoon instead of a three cell.

It was reported that the dump grounds is open with the dumpster in place. Signs have been placed around town with the hours.

Discussion was held on the need for several vehicles around town that need to be moved to make it easier for garbage pick up, blading and snow removal. Discussion was also held on some properties that need to be cleaned up. The board will contact residents about these problems.

Discussion was also held on the length of time a building permit is valid.

The monthly fi nancial report that had been sent to the board members was reviewed. The fol-lowing bills were presented:

#5624 - Austin Burkett – treat-ment plant maintenance/repairs $30; dump grounds $30; blading $45; equipment maintenance $60=$165.00.

#5625 - Souris Basin Planning Council – 2020 membership/mile-age assessment $100.00.

#5626 - Carpio Post Offi ce – box rent – one year $120.00.

#5627 - FU Oil Co – fuel for vehicles $13.96; equipment main-tenance $34.98=$48.94.

#5628 - Gooseneck Implement – fi lters for vehicles $229.12.

Larson moved, seconded by Thorp, to pay the bills. Carried by all.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. The next monthly meeting will be June 1, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

Notice of CarpioCity ElectionJune 9, 2020

Carpio city elections will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2020, via mail in ballot in conjunction with the primary election. The Mayor and two City Council seats are up for election this year. There are also two seats open for the Carpio Park Board.

All positions up for election are for a term of four years.

No one presented petitions to be on the ballot for any of the City Council positions up for election. All of these positions will be write in votes.

Randy Bryans and Jay Kurtz presented petitions for the Park Board positions. Please consider carefully who you would like to represent you on the City Council and Park Board.

City Council members that will continue on the board for another two years are council members Chris Larson and Austin Bur-kett.
